So happy when I got this in my inbox. I'd love to see more content from you, but I'd also warn you that you shouldn't force it. Let it flow naturally, and hopefully it'll become a natural thing to do every day. The other thing I wanted to point out is that I'm pretty sure you could start speaking English in your videos right away. Don't let perfection get in your way. Wabi sabi! :D
@@RyoyaTakashima: I agree with Filipe. Don't let perfectionism hold you back. This is a video by a polyglot at a TED conference that talks about the best way to learn a language. th-cam.com/video/o_XVt5rdpFY/w-d-xo.html Spoilers: There is no best way except the way in which you enjoy the process the most. This is because if you are enjoying something, then it probably acts as a mental lubricant for learning. It's easier to practice. It's easier to keep at the process. It's easier to feel satisfied. English speakers are very forgiving when it comes to speaking English. There's obviously rules to English that you may not know, but it's okay that you don't know everything. Simply trying is appreciated, and you can learn along the way. I know that you enjoy making videos; so, to go along with what Filipe mentioned, you can already start speaking English in your videos. If you still feel uncomfortable with your English, might I suggest using Japanese for "@Peaceful Cuisine" but English in your "@Ryoya Takashima" channel... or vice versa. This way, it's something you enjoy. It increases how much you practice. It increases the amount of feedback you'll get. And--this is probably the most important addition--you'll not have to translate and add subtitles for at least half of your videos. In conclusion, you're got this Ryoya.
Since you’re studying I’ll comment in English instead of Japanese. I lived in Kyoto for about a year to study there. Seeing you drive around on your bike brings back a lot of memories. Looking forward to more Kyoto vlogs.
When u said “I’ll do my best in 2020”, it made me be so excited for new year, new goals, new adventures and new efforts. I’ll also try my best everyday to improve and to be proud of myself. Thank you and hope u will achieve your goals in 2020 ❤️
Fantastic goal!! I personally love reading subtitles and listening to you speak Japanese but I understand the work you have to go through. Please post more ❤️
I find that watching children’s cartoons in the language you want to learn helps a lot because sometimes movies or TV shows can be quite overwhelming! And in children’s shows you can start at ones for a lower age and just work your way up as you get better!
I'm excited for the vlogging, Ryoya! I have always been amazed by your cinematography so I am looking forward to seeing that on that vlogs, too. Greetings from the Philippines!
shadowing is one of the best ways of learning a language; I've found that it's easier to use youtube videos than regular tv though, because the content is usually shorter and the language is more natural (it's how I learned french and how I'm learning spanish)
@@PaperWolfe I used to watch Cyprien and Joueur du Grenier because their videos are usually subtitled in multiple languages and then I would find youtubers that talked about subjects that I was already watching in English like living in Korea (Jake the Korean dream) or Japan (Louis-san) or stuff that I just wanted to watch like art vlogs (Marie Spénale) and documentaries (Arte). Also, I watch the news (France 24 en direct), it’s really helpful even if it’s sad/boring. Basically, start off by watching what’s trending in France (because they are usually subtitled and/or basic topics) and then search up more niche topics that you’re interested in. Hope that helps. Bonne chance!
It is how I learned English and now I’m studying to become a translator from English to French as French is my mother tongue. It works really well! If you want to try Canadian French you could watch tv and radio online at Radio Canada.
I can't describe it, but with your movies, even when I'm in a bad mood, I can totally cut myself off from the real world and feel the whole peace and harmony that you emanate. I love watching your movies and I'm really happy that you will start recording vlogs! Greetings from Poland!
Gyahh! I was distracted by your amazing wall art (the pics you took) I have to rewatch this just to understand what you were talking about 🤣🤣 Also best way to learn english is talking talking talking! Find someone to talk/converse with it will help with pronouncing and confidence. I find that a lot of non English speakers are afraid of their accent or the way they sound but trust me just have conversation with an English speaker. Love your dedication to everything you put your mind to. It inspires me! I will be looking for ways to improve myself. Happy NEW YEAR!
English has been such an important part of my life now; as someone who has Portuguese as first language, but is very interested in learning other languages, English has been sort of a bridge between my professors and I. It helped with my Italian and is helping me with my Korean and Cantonese. Somehow, someway, they also get lost teaching those languages in a country like Brazil, so it's good to find some common ground where we can talk freely and learn from eachother experiences. I'm happy that you're going to start putting lots of effort into learning English, you'll be able to talk to even more incredible people. Good luck with the process of learning. I truly hope I'll have the time and discipline to try and learn Japanese next. Also, lovely to have more videos of yours, can't wait to watch!
Having someone you are comfortable with to talk English back to is what helped me. But I was about 6 or 7 when I learned. The show Arthur helped me a lot and then going to school and having no choice but to talk English really made it possible. Good luck!
Wish you a Very Happy New Year as well Mr. Ryoya. I'm excited for your plan this year and also confident enough to say that you'd be fluent within six months in spoken English. Cambly is an excellent choice for this course. Best of luck and most importantly have fun!
We are blessed to get to communicate and learn about other cultures with such ease and convenience. Foods, activities, etc. Thanks for sharing. Love the new ride. I need one.
I found your channel yesterday and I love it! Kyoto is my favourite place in Japan, we're going there again in May. I've been studying Japanese for a few months, and find your blog incredibly helpful for immersion listening skills. The fact that you do it bilingually is even better! Arigatou gozaimashita.
I would love for more vlogs. I had a terrible day and your videos always calm me down but also inspire and motivate me more. I really miss Japan, it made me very happy so when I see your videos, I feel the same sort of happiness. Thank you and good luck with your 2020 goals!
Yesss, can't wait for more casual video from you, Ryoya-san! And good luck on learning English, it actually reminds me that I need to continue study Japanese, I've put it on hold for a few weeks, I kinda forget everything... 😅
Happy birthday Ryoya-san! Thank you for your all your hard work; it's always uplifting to see one of your videos when I come home. One of the bigger problems I find with Japanese people learning English is that their pronunciation is often very... Well, Japanese, so I think that watching TV in English is a great idea! Let's work hard in 2020!
Hi Ryoya. I found your Chanel a few days ago. Great vlog! Congratulations for your videos. You are very creative and such a great inspiration for those who want to shoot videos. Best regards, from Brazil.
Hi Ryoya! Language is one of those things that the more you use it, the better you'll get. So ... maybe in each vlog, you can start using English a little bit at a time. Next thing you know, you'll be a natural at it! Don't wait! Excited to see more vlogs from your channel! Happy 2020!
Yay, Ryoya! Looking forward to more videos. My wife and are planning a trip back to Kyoto (I've been 3 times) in a year or two so I'll be looking forward to some recommendations.
That is my favourite piece of music in the world. I just discovered your channel, I am loving the videos. I look forward to seeing your vlogs of Kyoto.
Your new year's resolution makes me feel like starting learning English. I'm looking forward to watching your beautiful movies such as cooking, traveling and scenery in Kyoto.

Watching tv shows (or any kind of immersion) is a great way of learning English! The more time you spend with the language you want to learn, the better.
Man I wish I can dedicate even an hour to study japanese daily too. You're so productive and inspiring Ryoya! Keep it up, I love this new style of vids where you speak both in English and Japanese.
Hello from California. I'm so excited for the vlogs you'll be doing. I appreciate that you add the English subtitles. I LOVE the sound of the cello. My daughter plays as well. Good luck on your new journey for 2020.
BIKE LIFE!!!!!!!! LIfe goals. Learning a new language...I love listening to you speak and the bonus of subtitles is the icing on the cake. Love watching Korean dramas too. Languages enrich our lives.
Domo arigato Royoya, Happy New Year. I look forward to your vlogs in English, You will do very well Im sure. But I am happy you add subtitles so I may understand you.. Tho I do love to listen to your voice :) Prelude is a very emotive piece.. The Cello is such a beautiful sound. You will be successful with practice... Much love Mx
Wow such good news! Really excited for your vlogs as your travel videos are my favorite so I feel normal vlogging is the closest kind to those. Can't wait to see more! Happy new year and best wishes for 2020 💞
Great idea! Hope you post a couple more vlogs before the end of May when I will be traveling to Japan. First to Tokyo, then taking the shinkansen to Kyoto. So I am looking forward to all your content on Kyoto. Thank you!
