I build drag cars at work, chrome moly, tight fits, tig welding, carbon bodies, titanium and aluminum components, it's cool, but it's serious work that's rewarding but not always fun. Watching y'all create these rock'n rollers is so satisfying to me because, like what I do, it's form and function as well as safety, but the precision is not nearly as critical and the sky is the limit for creativity. And your experience engineering these creations to perform on the trails and go the places they do is pretty dang cool. Keep on trucking guy's, y'all certainly enjoy it and clearly have a lot of fun, and ya get to do it all in a beautiful area of our great country. Keep'em greasy side down and stay safe!!
I build race cars also, creativity is definitely is definitely limited by the rule books. The quality of welds are scrutinized when obtaining chassis certs.
That was a couple serious fab sessions…no messing around! Rory , you got a good eye and skills on that bender …those tube slider/fenders look perfect for that cab.
Rory amazing Pipe building skills I would lose it after the first bend🤣 And to all you young fellas out there that are too lazy to get out of bed and do something with your life this is what work is all about and you can have fun doing it😁 looking good guys💯✊🇺🇸🍺🍺🍺
@1MBStudios I'm sure they didn't start their career with 10g in tools and a shop! I'm pretty sure like me as a construction then electrician, you start with what you can afford while working for someone else's business in their shop and their 10g in tools! You add to your tools as you go then you go on you own when comfortable money wise to open then shop and build! Unless you got daddies money of course!
@@wesman7837 I was commenting on another person that said yeah with about 10g in tools and 40g shop! I do know they have wayyyyyy more than 10g in tools, parts and other necessary hordes or usable equipment! I don't think the shop is 40g either so Look at my first comment!
Holly all hands on deck batman! You weren't kidding when you said "once I get all the parts I can build it really quick". It is so cool to watch you build a functional roll cage and basically the body of the wrecker. In many ways that is how trailmater was built and we have a front row seat to how it all goes together. I love that you are preserving the look and feel of this old relic but actually making it functional. What a cool project.
I enjoy watching the Trail Mater team at work, whether on rescues or recoveries, but the best is watching them bend metal and formulate out of thin air how Robby's wrecker will appear when done. All the metal bending and cutting and welding is fascinating to watch.
Rory, thankful for all 364 videoes of your channel🎉. I've been watching 2 years it feels like I should say, you rock and #trailmater is the best tow rig ever💚❣️
7:03 That improved thumb... if Mike gets stranded on the road he would have no issues at hitchhiking back to the shop 👍any driver would see him from afar 😁
I’ve great respect for fellers that can can “see” a truck long before it has any shape. That thing will be a beast with all that tubing welded to the frame.
It's pretty watching you all take a rusty cab, cobbled up frame and a pile of metal, then start cleaning up and creating a very capable Off Road Wrecker that is capable to handle just about any terrain. And oh, without even so much as a whole overall drawing on cardboard. That's awesome to watch happen. The truck is beginning to show its personality, its aggressiveness.
I love seeing old trucks being repurposed and given new life. This is an awesome build, and it's coming along great, can't wait to see the finished product.
Nice job guy's, that tow truck is gonna be badass. Robby is gonna be proud to drive it. And everyone's gonna know you guy's built it. Thanks for the video guy's.
Robbie's truck is looking good. I like Rory's schematic drawing at the end. Very precise,. Another great video with Rory, Mike and Shawn keep up the good work
It has been a long time since we had some hardcore fabrication / full builds to check out. Nice change of pace and man is that truck going to be a monster!!! Thanks for sharing.
It's a pleasure to watch professionals fabricate. You all accomplish more in one episode than I could get done in one February and March. Keep up the good work.
Yeah! Thats a good days work. Six or eight weeks and that masterpiece will be a rolling billboard for how a cool vintage rod is twisted into shape for a tow truck. If I was forty years younger this would become my focus for a new toy just like it!
So satisfying seeing you guys work together pulling the rope in the same direction knocking things out. Glad to see your imagination coming together on Robbie's wrecker. I'm sure it will turn out amazing. Won't be no Trail Mater. But anything Rory puts his mind and hands on is better for it. You guys keep rocking the vids we'll keep watching.
"Not one unruly customer in there.." not yet anyway 😂🤣😂 those bending machines are amazing as is the crew shaping the pipe 🙂 sooo much grinding and cutting... in all corners of the shop too 🙂 that was a lot of wear and tear on the old running board to literally wear through the steel over time 😯 with all the really fancy tools, I am a 'little' surprised to see the handheld cutter... "That's a Robby problem" 😂🤣😂 Thanks for sharing... great editing Justin to keep all the action flowing... left me glued to the video and not fast forwarding like some of those tooooo long ones on other channels... 😍 and P.S. you can keep those dang Canadian Geese 😂🤣😂 they are real bossy and very messy 😂😂 and Shawn is really COOL !
Watching you three work together on this project is on another level. Great skill, team work and having fun while you're doing it. Thank you as always for the entertaining content. Be safe guys.
Robbie’s tow truck will be awesome! The tubing going around the fenders and running boards is killer. Keep up the fantastic fad work. Great rescues and keep up the comedy !
Wow guys! You work like you’re done this a 1,000 times. Unlike others that cut away then come back later with version #9 that just fits perfect. You guys get it right the first time. You guys are the real deal!!! Thanks for tanking us along!
Thanks for putting yourself out there on TH-cam. I remember when you started and were very nervous and the videos were not very well edited or put together. Look at you now and how far you've come in such a short amount of time. I love what you do and though, I don't even know you, but I feel like you and your team are good friend of mine and we've known each other for years. Way to go, keep up the good work.
I put in my share of time on a similar bender so I can declare that you make those compound bent shapes so effortlessly most people watching this will not realise how difficult that is to achieve! Very impressive. (And Mike's attack side grinder didn't induce a trip to the hospital)
When I'm building things and I cut them to long then a bit short a long length of none savory words would be spoken and the piece be thrown across the shop into the ceiling. Projects starting to look good. Keep up the great work boys.
Glad to see that you are stretching the cab. People must have been a lot smaller 100 years ago because there’s no way anyone ever bragged about the comfort of their Ford Model AA or Model T. But if the comparison was a Buckboard and horses maybe it still was.

Really enjoying the Model AA build. Very interesting and learning how it's done by very skilled builders. It is going to look and function amazing. Thank You for bringing us along!

Cool stuff for sure.
If that cab isn’t stretched a little, it will be the world’s most uncomfortable wrecker ever! Glad to see it in the plan.
Afoot well would help.
Like he said @cap1206! Make something Robby will love jumping into rather than dreading the ride….

Stretch the cab and make room for storing gear and emergency supplies. Outside access doors
The shot of the feet dangling is hilarious. I always look forward to your videos. Keep ‘em coming.
I was trying to figure which one was Fred and which one was Barney!
