The Cyborg 14 mostly cuts the right corners and its cheapness resulted in *more* features than much more expensive 14" gaming laptops (replaceable RAM, ethernet port at the back). A Core Ultra or Ryzen version would've been the cherry on top with the much needed battery life and performance.
I never expect this laptop will get decent enough screen and right thermal control to accomodate single fan design. You can be mad at me but i'll consider this one for my next laptop, especially if MSI Indonesia price this thing right.
Single fan and a 45w tgp. It's better to get a lenovo LOQ rtx 4060 if you're on a budget. Their prices are almost the same, at least here in my country.

Hello 👋. Can you make a guide on best price worth gaming laptops in different price ranges? (without discounts, as discounts aren't available everywhere)
just wanna throw this out there the cyborg 15 inch i have is a real pain to upgrade the nvme. the screw is so tight its impossible to take it out. msi tightened that particular screw way too hard. im sure the 14 inch is still the same but getting into the laptop is very easy.
I bought one. The machine is very light. After playing Elden's Ring for a while, it reached 60 frames. The battery is a bit small. I can only watch videos for 250 minutes. I have a 16g memory. I plan to upgrade to 32g to see if there will be any performance improvement.
did you buy this laptop? what specs you got? did you go with the 4060 model? how are the temps as well? Im considering getting this laptop maybe the i7 rtx 4050 version I think the 4050 is enough for what im plannning to use it for Im just concerned with the build quality over time tho as I've heard horror stories about single fan msi laptops being close to e-waste quality
I think MSI is the only brand that makes gaming laptop with 1 fan lol, my friend's GF63 keep getting hot with no apps opened despite the thermal paste has just been replaced lol
hey jarrod, can i ask how did you test the power scaling of the rtx 4060 mobile? specifically, how did you get it to run at 35w? i can't seem to set the power limit at lower than 60w in my lenovo slim 7
This is just literally MSI GF Thin series with 'more fragile' (since it's plastic). For 1000$, I'd suggest buy Bravo 15 (that 200$ more cheaper) that has both numbers keyboard and one more fan or it's 15 series with numpads.
Comprises are minimal even for it's size and price. Major ones include small batteries and single fans while minor includes smaller batteries and probably build but it's fine. I think it's a great yet powerful 14 inch device without breaking the bank. It's probably the most affordable yet portable gaming laptops we had in years that isn't 15"/16" and Razer slim
Jarrod, Can You Please review the new Msi Katana 15 AI B8 ? I am planning to buy the one with Ryzen 7 8845HS, i want to know what is the benefit of having the 8000 series Ryzen

"that's just how tech work's" It was to be a valid argument but is it really valid when we talk about laptops are they actually usin smaller anything when it comes to electronics? I can only see a smaler battery and chase. Does it use smaller ram? Capacitors? Really what is smaller and cost's more to produce at that size. I'm genuinely asking
Never understood this 14 inch low config gaming laptop segment. Who is this really intended for?!? The screen is too small for gaming and the GPU is too weak to drive a nice external monitor.
Some people may have need for more power than non-dGPU laptop, but only have the living space for a 14" laptop. For example, I'm a university student who stays in a very tight dorm room, in which a third of the space is the bathroom, and that's when it was empty; and this was an upgrade from my previous dorm, which was even smaller. I certainly would appreciate a laptop at this size more than I would laptops at a larger size, let alone a PC - it's just much more practical for the living space that I do have.
Probably never, I feel like it's too late. MSI didn't send it over to us last year and I left it too late to justify buying it. Now it's unchanged this year, so don't know if it's worth bothering with.
I own an entry level cyborg 15. I bought it discounted 650 usd which is cheaper than any same spec laptop which range from 800-1000 usd due to taxes here in the Philippines. It is a powerful machine but I'm too worried about the temps due to its single fan design. The temps shows 70°C but the top cover above the keyboard is so hot to touch. My biggest regret with this laptop is the ram & storage thinking 8gb + 512gb is enough. Now I need to upgrade to 16gb + 1tb but it will cost me 150usd and it has a single ssd slot no expansion at all plus If I do it myself my warranty will be voided. I should have bought lenovo or an acer with a ryzen processor. The metal chasis really caught my attention with this laptop and now I regret with my decision. 😂
Would it be possible to flash the bios to achieve more than 45w on the gpu and use a better power supply to accommodate? Clearly the cooling can handle a little more power and that screen is impressive for the price so it would be a shame to have a poor gpu with a good screen.

Any laptop can have coil whine, it's normal, usually once the fans are going or you throw on some headphones it does not matter. I do not think coil whine is a valid reason for warranty/exchange. You just roll the dice and waste time to probably end up with the same thing.
Definitely, should've been a 60W RTX 4050. Maybe even higher, but I wouldn't really know how strong that fan is for both of the CPU and the GPU. Could've been a higher TGP, that's for sure.

hey Jarrod if this laptop was literally the cheapest 14 inch laptop available where Im from, would recommend this laptop? like if theprice difference with other laptops was around a thousand dollars and I really want to get a 14 inch laptop for digital sculpting, light 3d modeling and rendering images of my digital sculpts and the occasional gaming at low settings, would this laptop be a good companion device and not a main machine that I can take with me on the go?
Hello 👋. Can you make a guide on best price worth gaming laptops in different price ranges? (without discounts, as discounts aren't available everywhere)
Does it seriously not have a ssd and m.2 combo configure 😮😮
Acer Helios neo 16 with i9 13900hx rtx4060 32gb ddr5 512gb SSD for 1100$ worth or not?
just wanna throw this out there the cyborg 15 inch i have is a real pain to upgrade the nvme. the screw is so tight its impossible to take it out. msi tightened that particular screw way too hard. im sure the 14 inch is still the same but getting into the laptop is very easy.
I bought one. The machine is very light. After playing Elden's Ring for a while, it reached 60 frames. The battery is a bit small. I can only watch videos for 250 minutes. I have a 16g memory. I plan to upgrade to 32g to see if there will be any performance improvement.
More ram will not help
did you buy this laptop? what specs you got? did you go with the 4060 model? how are the temps as well? Im considering getting this laptop maybe the i7 rtx 4050 version I think the 4050 is enough for what im plannning to use it for Im just concerned with the build quality over time tho as I've heard horror stories about single fan msi laptops being close to e-waste quality
14" gaming monitor with still ethernet port, finally
should i go for the cyborg 14 with rtx 4060 or stealth 14 with 4050?
Oh wow the hdmi connects to the integrated graphics. Normally I see the hdmi ports connecting directly to the Nvidia graphics card in gaming laptops.
Hi jarrod, i m looking to buy a new gaming laptop. Should i go for new loq 2024 14th gen 4060 or wait for new predator helios 16 (2024)
This MSI Cyborg looks like a perfect candidate for a VBIOS flash (a VBIOS of 55-60W TDP will be just fine- almost a set and forget mod).
What is a vbios ?
And don't you have to buy better charger?
Still i was looking at rhis latoo for gaming and daily stuff not interested in heavy gaming. But do you think this is worth it?
Jarrod, Can You Please review the new Msi Katana 15 AI B8 ? I am planning to buy the one with Ryzen 7 8845HS, i want to know what is the benefit of having the 8000 series Ryzen
Was waiting for this review
Thank you Jarrod. @JarrodsTech I got the Legion Pro 5i and 7i for about the price id get for one give or take with the nicer specs and they both run like life itself you all. I am very pleased. 32 gb ram, rtx 4070 and 4090. I would have gotten the 4060 but the LOQ deals went down before i could get to it leaving just the 5i as a acceptable number two for my daughter.. (shes under 10) so a major upgrade she can probably get 4-5 years out of at her level before high school upgrade. Jarrod knows what he's talking about and you labtop companies.. better sponser this man.. just spent 5000 and it was worth it the moment i seen these videos. i think that's better than ad and commercial advertisement @msi @asus @lenovo @dell @alienware etc. Thank you Lenovo. Will keep can eye out for the 50 series :) and it better not be overpriced because Jarrod will let us know !
Can you do Raptor Lake Refresh Legions too, excellent review btw as always Jarrod
Just got the Cyborg 14 with the RTX for a single fan running 4060 not too bad but ofcourse this is the lower wattage 4060. Good Deal where I am can recommend this over the Cyborg 15. Display is much much better.
is it 45W only?
@@mrwallydrag yea but not too bad im getting around 80fps on high settings in Helldivers 2 and 200fps + playing overwatch, 4000 series GPU very efficient.
"that's just how tech work's"
It was to be a valid argument but is it really valid when we talk about laptops are they actually usin smaller anything when it comes to electronics?
I can only see a smaler battery and chase.
Does it use smaller ram? Capacitors?
Really what is smaller and cost's more to produce at that size.
I'm genuinely asking
Please make a video on lenovo yoga pro 9i 2024
Never understood this 14 inch low config gaming laptop segment.
Will this be good for architecture 3d modeling and rendering?
I want to see Msi raider 18 & titan 18
Alienware m18
when would drop razer blade 16 & and asus rog strix scar 18?
LG laptops also have awesome BIOS customization by the way 😉
Guys, Which laptop brand is the best for i9 and 4070? (I had around 2400 usd budget)
I would absolutely love to see a cyborg 15 review. When should I expect one?
asus scar 18 looking incredible, hoping to see this video release soon
Is cyborg 15 the same but just bigger
Hey Jarrod, you still based in Canberra? I’m curious if you know of any decent pc diagnostic/repair places.
Not sure sorry, never needed to look for one.
Would it be possible to flash the bios to achieve more than 45w on the gpu and use a better power supply to accommodate? Clearly the cooling can handle a little more power and that screen is impressive for the price so it would be a shame to have a poor gpu with a good screen.
Is it an artificial limit?
Same question
When will you review the Msi Pulse 15 RTX 4070 ?
gigabyte has a really wierd laptop last year, aorus 16 not the 2024 ver 16x
it got 4 fans and only got launched in taiwan
can you review that one before this year's 16X
But, with all this features in the BIOS can you increase power limit for the GPU?
No, that's an Nvidia limit, would need VBIOS flash I imagine.
Bought the Lenovo Legion Slim 5
Hello, I see that cyborg and other msi laptops has 1 fan, can be this a problem ? I intend to by a budget laptop that will run without heat issues in a hot area (summer 45°), what you recommend? Thanks
The temps are good look at video
Just ordered an i5 12450h rtx 3050 version of this for 800 euros 🎉
Love the transparent look. This is on sale here... interesting.
Any chance you can review the omen transcend 16 2024 version with an oled screen?
What scares me is that there is only one fan inside.
Can you test the 4060 version so we could know if it's worth it to get the higher priced option or not?
Check my 4050 vs 4060 comparison video, I won't be spending another $2000 AUD on another Cyborg sorry.
So, worth it?
are broken hinges included. really never buy a MSI laptop, the hinges will brake within 1yr.
Hello I am your subscriber I need an help, recently I ordered an Acer Nitro 5 with Ryzen 7 7735HS with 4gb RTX 3050 95watt TGP and 16 gb DDR5 ram , I got it for 59K is it worth it ? Please help
Please compare 13700hx vs 13900hx vs 14700hx vs 14900hx
That chin though. Probably not a terrible option for people who want a cheaper, more portable laptop.
asus g14 and legion slim 14" are still on top
At twice the price I’ll happily pass on those and get the cyborg 14
@@ogkendrick6392 they are not twice the price, you can literally find both for 999$ or around 1k
dude the video literally showed the g14 for 999$
@ogkendrick6392 loq 15 is better
hey jarrod can u answer this please if possible. i have ideapad 5800h rtx 3060(90w). my issue is after 1yr of use i am getting coil whine in gpu, so is it ok to game on and keep it under load(coil whine should not hurt the device right). or should i get lenovo to repair/ replace the component ( these may give a refurbished board if i force them to repair it i am under premium warranty)
Any laptop can have coil whine, it's normal, usually once the fans are going or you throw on some headphones it does not matter. I do not think coil whine is a valid reason for warranty/exchange. You just roll the dice and waste time to probably end up with the same thing.
@@JarrodsTech thank you
Interesting.
Decent FHD 144 Hz screen but still a 45W GPU, the thermal results suggest a higher TDP GPU could definitely have been a possibility here.
Definitely, should've been a 60W RTX 4050. Maybe even higher, but I wouldn't really know how strong that fan is for both of the CPU and the GPU. Could've been a higher TGP, that's for sure.
I would never buy a MSI laptop again until they fix their hinge snapping issue full stop!
@JarrodsTech Please 🙏🏾 the Razer Blade 16 2024 OLED. Half a Millisecond panel is insane 😅
does the 4060 ver, still has the 45 watt limit?
Yes 😢 is very bad laptop
This and gf63 should be way cheaper , because you can get nitro 5 which is a way better machine than both of them for very similar price.
Can you review normal Cyborg 15?
Please review the MSI Bravo 17
Ok the translucent plastic should be a thing normally
Tell me someone, please, how good RTX 4060 50W with R9 7940HS 32 Gb RAM inside Asus Vivobok Pro 15 OLED
And what about optimus?
