I have had an HP x2 11 (refreb) for 2 months now, running the latest 104 version, and the stylus is working. I also tested the Lenovo USI pen from my wife's Duet and it works as well. For whatever the info is worth.

I have the Lenovo Duet 5 very good Chrome tablet, would definitely recommend it great screen size very little lag if any and the only issue I am having is trying to use Google maps turn by turn navigation on it.
Hi, I'm currently looking for a smaller tablet, which I would use for watching TH-cam and other videos on a bigger screen than my iPhone 13 mini, as well as some occasional easy coding when I don't have access to my main Windows 11 2-in-1 laptop. Seems to me like Chromebook would be the perfect option for my needs. However, my budget is very thight - I would like to spend less than equivalent of 200 USD on it. Do you have any tips for such device for me? I don't need much power, but I would really like having at least 1080p screen no bigger than about 10.5” (something like 8.5” would be amazing), USB-C and if possible a 3.5mm headphone jack. No need for keyboard (if I needed to be productive, I'll either have my mentioned laptop or USB-C hub with mouse, keyboard and a big screen connected to it).
There are no 8.5" Chrome OS tablets. Honestly they original Lenovo Chromebook Duet would fit your needs. It's 10.5 inches. And you can get them dirt cheap on eBay. The one below is in good condition, but the kickstand just looks dirty. You could always get a new case: www.ebay.com/itm/265885555674?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=P99z0PArS6G&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=vrxevva-tiw&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY If you want to spend a little more you can get it for $145 in mint condition. www.ebay.com/itm/165693610987?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=dfkRPU0XRLK&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=vrxevva-tiw&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
The Lenovo Tab 10e is essentially the same tablet as the Chromebook Duet, but it's more rugged. Since you don't care about the keyboard it may be a better option for you. @Android Digest Thank you. These prices are great even with shipping to Europe, I'll surely give it a shot. The Chromebook Duet looks way better in my opinion, but I really like the headphone jack of the Tab 10e.
@@AndroidDigest Thanks again. I ended up getting the Chromebook Duet for 99 USD in an eBay auction (unfortunately that grew up to 175 USD with shipping to Europe...) and I'm super glad I in the end picked the one with a keyboard. Took me a while to set everything up (access developer mode, install, update and upgrade Linux, find some suitable file manager, find out, what apps shall I use as Android versions and what rather as Chrome extensions, ...), but once I've done all of that, it works like a dream! I'm writing this comment from that device by the way :D .
It does, but there are many Chromebooks that can only run the app in 1080p and not 4k. And some devices have limitations that can only allow 1080p anyway, but there are some tablets that can play Netflix in 4k, but to use that feature, on some devices, you have to use the web browser. If that makes any sense
Other things to try,,ACCESSIBILITY, VOICE TO TEXT works quite well, no typing needed,, & TEXT to SPEECH,, reads text quite well Try the script keyboard with the USI pen,, handwriting recognition ,, works remarkably well The Camera, has fuzy background portrait with only ONE camera,, && scan document && QR code
To be honest, I've got the original Lenovo Duet, and all that I want from it is a faster processor. I don't think it needs to be x86 based, I just want a high end ARM chip that can keep up with everything that I want to do. Imagine something similar to the high end Samsung tablets that runs Chrome, it would be amazing. But I never want to go back to using the TH-cam app on an Android after the joy of using the webapp (with ad blocker) on a tablet. It's just a better experience.
Thanks, Zac, for this very informative video. Looking forward to 2023 when, hopefully, Google will launch the new Tablet. I would be very interested in it and use Chrome OS on that. Thanks. Happy Holidays!
I use the original Lenovo DUET every day,, in the following configuration a $50 USB C HUB,, with HDMI OUT driving a second screen,, ( USI PEN for original screen ) BLUETOOTH, Logitch, KEYBOARD, & MOUSE with Tribit MAXSound Plus SPEAKER if needed like I say this is in use every day,, I dont have any of the problems you report
Need to see x86 coming back on ChromeOS tablets. As a heavy desktop Linux user, I truly miss the Google Pixel Slate a lot. Play Store apps might not work with x86, but I still have the ability to use any desktop Linux softwares I like with it.
My Google Pixel Slate is my daily go to device. It is superb. I can attach a Bluetooth keyboard and wireless mouse to get some work done in desktop environment. The screen is superior to any other chrome tablet and the speakers are excellent. I have the M3 8gb ram model and it flies. I hope Google release an even more powerful version because I would buy it in an instant.
Yes, the Pixel Slate is WAY better than it used to be. The updates have made it terrific, the one thing that I wish they would do is come out with a nice case for it! Because it's older there aren't many good cases for it, even back then not many people made them. I would love using a Pixel Slate with a Magnetic kickstand case like we see on the Tab S8. Either way, hope they come out with a new tablet soon. Sadly I think they are only releasing an Android tablet, so you may have to wait for a higher powered tablet from someone else
I want Chrome OS to succeed in tablets, honestly. The Duet 3 and HP x11 are awesome for their intended use. It's a steal that you can get the Duet at like $300 with the kickstand and keyboards. I won't be getting one because I find my Tab S8+ on Dex mode still more powerful and useful for me, but if I'm on a budget, I'll get one. And yes, 8 years of software support for Chrome OS is bonkers.
You're in the exact same spot as me. I would prefer the Samsung tablets but when I'm on a budget I normally go back to something like the Chromebook duet
I got the duet 5 in like new condition with back cover, keyboard, everything that it's supposed to come with in the box for $240. Couldn't be happier. I love it!
It can but it's extremely glitched. If you install Gboard, it bunches together words. Creates all types of issues. Pretty sure I brought that up in this review. Either way that's definitely an issue
As someone who heavily uses their Samsung Tab S8 Plus for note taking, the poor USI stylus versus the EMR based S Pen or Apple Pencil, coupled with a lack of a killer notes app makes a Samsung Android tablet or an iPad a more logical purchase. It's really frustrating that there aren't any true good notes apps for an operating system that is so heavily used in the educational sector, but that's a reality of most Android and Chrome OS devices not made by Samsung. It's frustrating because my girlfriend has an Acer spin 713, and is in college right now. She's tried to use Cursive and other notes apps, but just finds them too limiting. She has Good Notes 5 on her iPad Air, and that is so much more functional for her needs.
Well theoretically Chrome OS tablets should work with most Android note taking apps. But not always. And I do think S pen has the edge for sure... But I think most of the has to do with that 120hz screen and the incredible looking resolution. I think if they add 120hz to a higher end Chrome OS tablet they may start to close the gap. But for now they just don't have premium tablets. You have a lot of great thoughts though
Samsung Notes is the best note taking app I have used. Shame it's not available in the play store to be used on any device. one could probably find an apk and install it (not sure about this though)
lenovo duet 5 is great tablet the screen is great for notetaking, also has a secondary computer it helps with having notes or watching videos for productivity for me in real estate and education/ plus i use to keep data away from my primary source. Only sync information for recording and future work. I will recommend the lenovo duet 5 as a second/ less gaming. Hey if gaming perhaps you are not truly being productive. Enhance your work and limit time on platforms like social media!! Good Fortune
I think they need to drop ChromeOS for tablet and just make regular ChromeOS work with mouse input and finger input. Make icons and controls have both finger control and mouse controls. One operating system. Two does not work. Apple know this. Doesn't take genius.
It's OK if you want to be tied into Chrome, so they see everything you do, and it will never be yours, just like Apple in the walled garden you can sign out, but you can never leave!!
stop shouting on TH-cam about chrome OS bugs,, REPORT THEM TO GOOGLE,, THEY CANT FIX ,, WHAT THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT . To submit a feedback report, type Alt+Shift+i .... (( maybe you could make a HOW TO REPORT Video ?? ))
Did you ever think that actually creating awareness on this could actually create more bug reports? If they don't test their own products to see these bugs, I'm not sure what to tell you. If they try gboard on normal websites that normal consumers use for even 5 or 10 minutes they will find these bugs on their own... They should know all these bugs exist already anyway. But I'm creating a video that is helping to bring more exposure to the issues, which does help to get things fixed. I was also talking about the pros and the cons of Chrome OS, if I only talk about the pros and I ignore the cons and only bring them up in bug fix reports, that would give the wrong impression, as if Chrome OS is perfect. It's my job to share the good and the bad. With all that being said there is much more good for Chrome OS than bad. I love it and hope it continues to improve
@@AndroidDigest they cant test EVERYTHING,, remmber millions of lines of code,,, Chrome OS,, containers with Android & Linux.... THEY NEED USERS to REPORT BUGS ...... so get reporting... type..... Alt+Shift+i
I think one of the bigger drawback is Widevine/DRM errors with the OS. It doesn't matter if you have an 11.6" TN 768p $79 Chromebook, or the HP Dragonfly Elite Pro whatever for $1300-- You CANNOT get higher than 480p STREAMING AND DOWNLOADING of videos from apps in the Google Play Store that aren't Google Play Movies/GOogle TV. Netflix, Disney+, HBO MAx, etc. Also, permissions are janky-- You can give Netflix storage permission to read an SD card, but the app WON'T read it even with permissions granted. I mean, it CAN be done, as Google TV/Play Movies does do 1080p at least, it's just LAZY developers which is why I legit just cancelled all subscriptions to them. I think honestly a Duet 3 follow up with the screen on the Lenovo P11 Plus Gen 2 (11" 2k OLED) with same keyboard as Duet 3, and a new flagship Snapdragon chipset, or at LEAST Mediatek Kompani 1380 for around $399-$449 sticker price would be great. If they do it at $499, make it 8GB standard and run sales often as Lenovo tends to. LOVE the DESKTOP browser, and IDEA of native Google Play, but they need to incentivize developers to fix their apps for ChromeOS hoenstly to be a power house.
I got the Lenovo Duet 5 my first ChromeOS tablet and it's been great!!! Beautiful display.

Thanks so much. On a side note. Many of these Chrome OS bugs were fixed in recent updates apparently. My new tablet I'm reviewing doesn't have keyboard issues or touch keyboard issues or gboard issues. These issues were very long lasting but appear to be gone
I just got a hp x2 11 but the stylus is not working. I checked that some other x2 users also have same issue so I guess that is a os issue since June.
Thanks for the heads up! It could be a software issue especially if you are seeing a bunch of other users reporting it at the same time period
I have had an HP x2 11 (refreb) for 2 months now, running the latest 104 version, and the stylus is working. I also tested the Lenovo USI pen from my wife's Duet and it works as well. For whatever the info is worth.
Wyze not available for this tablet and ring keeps crashing and screen sharing is not supported. I’m very disappointed I returned the 2 tablet to Best Buy.
What tablet specifically? I know this video is just about Chrome OS tablets in general so just curious
The 2022 chrome duet 5 OLED 8GB.
I have the Lenovo Duet 5 very good Chrome tablet, would definitely recommend it great screen size very little lag if any and the only issue I am having is trying to use Google maps turn by turn navigation on it.
Yep it's a great tablet
You could always get a new case:

If you want to spend a little more you can get it for $145 in mint condition.

The Lenovo Tab 10e is essentially the same tablet as the Chromebook Duet, but it's more rugged. Since you don't care about the keyboard it may be a better option for you.
You can get it in mint condition for like $100

Does the Netflix app work on a Chromebook
It does, but there are many Chromebooks that can only run the app in 1080p and not 4k. And some devices have limitations that can only allow 1080p anyway, but there are some tablets that can play Netflix in 4k, but to use that feature, on some devices, you have to use the web browser. If that makes any sense
@@AndroidDigest thank you for you help was thinking of getting a Chromebook for TH-cam and Netflix but not sure if a galaxy tab might be better
Lenovo Duet 3 has been awesome wish I could get a 8gb model
Maybe one day! The 4GB still does pretty well though
Other things to try,,ACCESSIBILITY,
VOICE TO TEXT works quite well, no typing needed,, & TEXT to SPEECH,, reads text quite well
Try the script keyboard with the USI pen,, handwriting recognition ,, works remarkably well
The Camera, has fuzy background portrait with only ONE camera,, && scan document && QR code
For sure. The next Duet is actually a lot faster than the original. But I'd like to see an even faster model
Thanks, Zac, for this very informative video. Looking forward to 2023 when, hopefully, Google will launch the new Tablet.
I would be very interested in it and use Chrome OS on that. Thanks. Happy Holidays!
Well I think they are releasing an Android tablet. Still, a lot of great Chrome OS tablets coming out next year. And thanks! Enjoy the holidays!
I use the original Lenovo DUET every day,, in the following configuration
a $50 USB C HUB,, with HDMI OUT driving a second screen,, ( USI PEN for original screen )
BLUETOOTH, Logitch, KEYBOARD, & MOUSE with Tribit MAXSound Plus SPEAKER if needed
like I say this is in use every day,, I dont have any of the problems you report
Need to see x86 coming back on ChromeOS tablets. As a heavy desktop Linux user, I truly miss the Google Pixel Slate a lot. Play Store apps might not work with x86, but I still have the ability to use any desktop Linux softwares I like with it.
Thanks for the sub by the way. Means a lot. I love the Pixel Slate, it had some issues, but I wish we had more tablets like it!
@@AndroidDigest Agreed. I'm actually excited for the next generation of Chromebooks that will come with the Kompanio 1000-series chipset.
@@diwaalejandrogalvez796 exactly. There's a lot of Hope there
I got the duet 5 in like new condition with back cover, keyboard, everything that it's supposed to come with in the box for $240. Couldn't be happier. I love it!
It looks glitchy when you swipe up
Yeah sometimes it can be
I think Gboard can be installed and used on ChromeOS tablets.
It can but it's extremely glitched. If you install Gboard, it bunches together words. Creates all types of issues. Pretty sure I brought that up in this review. Either way that's definitely an issue
im still using a Pixel Slate .won't buy anothy Chrome Tablet waiting for Google to drop the Pixel tablet on Android .
That's fair! They should release one next year, hopefully
Shame it's not available in the play store to be used on any device.
one could probably find an apk and install it (not sure about this though)
where i live these good chromeos tablets aren't sold, i'd much rather buy these than regular android tablets
If s9 ultra tab can give me full size browser then i cab buy it now
Yeah, they don't exactly have that, the Samsung Internet browser is pretty close to a full desktop browser, pretty much operates like one.
@@AndroidDigest no but i need a full size browser because i need to do work with lot of chrome extensions
Good things... cheap price & light os. TANKS:)
Yeah the OS is crazy good. Very light and very fast for the money
lenovo duet 5 is great tablet the screen is great for notetaking, also has a secondary computer it helps with having notes or watching videos for productivity for me in real estate and education/ plus i use to keep data away from my primary source. Only sync information for recording and future
work. I will recommend the lenovo duet 5 as a second/ less gaming. Hey if gaming perhaps you are not truly being productive. Enhance your work and limit time on platforms like social media!! Good Fortune
Totally with you, it's great for productivity, and it has great battery life too
a risky BUG fix,, is to move to the BETA version on CHROME,, it might fix some bug's && add others.....
Exactly, I've seen a fix some of my bugs at times but then it can create others
ChromeOs's otherwise is allowing me to use my giftcard money on those pc browser mmorpg which ticks me off. T.T
🤣🤣 Darn that Chrome OS
I think they need to drop ChromeOS for tablet and just make regular ChromeOS work with mouse input and finger input. Make icons and controls have both finger control and mouse controls. One operating system. Two does not work. Apple know this. Doesn't take genius.
It's OK if you want to be tied into Chrome, so they see everything you do, and it will never be yours, just like Apple in the walled garden you can sign out, but you can never leave!!
Yeah, that's true. The walled gardens are tough.
First!
stop shouting on TH-cam about chrome OS bugs,,
REPORT THEM TO GOOGLE,, THEY CANT FIX ,, WHAT THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT
.
