in todays video we're going to explore the 100 rules of power metal. and these are rules and laws that you need to adhere to if you're a real power metal fan. well, these are not to be taken fully seriously but there are some underlaying truths to these stereotypes. I think that these 100 rules portrays some of the characteristics, mannerisms, ideas and attributes that are associated with the Power Metal genre. So let's have some fun!

Power Metal's definitely my most favorite metal subgenre ever. I definitely like fantasy, sci-fi, history and vikings; I also like Japanese RPGs.
Since Power Metal is considered to be the geekiest metal genre, I like other geeky stuff too like anime, video games and old Disney animation classics.
But overall, just have fun and enjoy. And hail and kill!

Manowar and Running Wild were staples to my youth. No false metal 🤘🏻 I’m old though so when I heard Dragon Force, I was like WTH? This isn’t power metal. I like Dragon Force but wouldn’t classify them as power metal. Iron Maiden and Dio definitely had some songs in the Power Metal category. Judas Priest too. To me Manowar encompasses it best. Of course Rock n Rolf and Running Wild encompasses Pirate Metal but early stuff like Genghis Khan and Black Demon more power metal era than Pirate Metal at the time. Still a few bands doing old school Melodic Power Metal styles but you have to search harder for it maybe. Manowar also made one of the best Metal ballads ever with Mountains. No wussy hair metal ballad style, it’s a true Death and Glory ballad. Long live true Metal! Great list. Haha. So many truisms! Glad I found your channel.

I love death metal and black metal but when I need a break from all the screaming power metal is my go to.
Try Satan's Host (the ones with Harry Conklin) if you need a mix of all three!

Unfortunately Andre Matos died young and power metal lost one of its best voices. Power metal is a genre that allows all themes in terms of lyrics. It can learn you history and cultivates the fantasy . Also it is a genre for everyone regardless of age , gender , religious beliefs or race

My favourite rules and some of my additions:
3-4. Worship Tolkien, especially LOTR. But read the books in English, because only the English version is metal.
7. Clean vocals. Because vocalists who actually sing are awesome.
9. Power Metal must be melodic. Yeah, true, because it's better when it's melodic. But not as melodic as Symphonic Metal.
16. You must worship fantasy. Did it before I realized that fantasy is the core of Power Metal. When I did my love for fantasy increased.
29. No growling allowed. Because we love vocalists who actually sing (look 7). But metal screams are welcome.
43-44. Be bombastic/epic. True!
45. Metal must be powerful and uplifting. Literally the reason I love it so much. Escapism is awesome!
53. If you're young prefer the more melodic European style. No additions here, I just like the rule.
76. Smile! Because Power Metal is powerful and uplifting. And goofy.
77. Have a thick German accent. But my accent is Russian....I guess I can get lost.
79. Wear leather. Leather is awesome, especially when it's black.
84. Binge watch Game of Thrones and Vikings. And Merlin (the BBC show).
89. Have long hair. Because long hair is the best.
