I think Herb losing his company is all on Herb. His workers even tried to warn him about Homers stupidity (and body oder) and he ignored them
Yeah he gave a stranger lots if over site and control over his company and then was shocked that it back fired
I never understood how building one rubbish prototype would destroy an entire company.
@@ChadSlampiece thing is we dont know how much homer spent or how big the company was
Likley this was meant to be presented to investors to really expand the company but instead it back fired and everyone pulled out leaving the company bankrupt
Lots of companies go under from a single bad product especially if they arent enormous
Yeah, I agree. When the designers told Homer they'd do it and Herb got to hear of it, he told Homer to go back in and insist on things done his way.
Yeah, that's just a terrible business decision from Herb. If you own a company and you decide to put someone who is completely incompetent in charge of an important project then you've only got yourself to blame.
It’s also been implied on three separate occasions that Homer’s a drug dealer off camera.
1. Homer: The cops?! Someone hide my stash!
Marge: You don’t have a stash...
Homer: Riiiiight.
2. Homer: Maybe Bart’s digging for drugs.
Marge: There’s no drugs in the backyard.
Homer: ....Yes.
2. Mr. Simpson, could you be leading a double or triple life?
Homer: Definitely not a triple.
That would certainly explain how he can afford his home, cars and lots of cool vacations despite him constantly changing jobs, etc
Child abuse Homer Simpson @
This was the moment Homer became Heisenberg
There is no dancing around the framing of Marge. That is truly Homer's worst moment.
Yeah. It wasn't something played as over the top like say his alcoholism (like when he mixed vodka and mayonnaise) or having to move a city by trucks. Nah, he just crashes his car and makes his wife take the fall. No comedic misunderstanding, no slapstick, just a down to earth sort of horrible that is later laughed away
Mhmm
Worse than strangling his own son?
Strangling his son is more of a gag repeated for the sake of repeating it....it doesn’t hold much weight, it’s really cartoonish, The DUI incident felt real and almost out of character for Homer
marge: i've been married to a fatman who has evil plans.
Jesus christ I never realised how dark Homers character truly is
I know right
“I am evil homer, I am evil homer” now has a new meaning.
I wish I added that quote in 😂

Come to the dark side we have donuts.
"Mmm, donuts." - Homer Simpson
Sounds accurate.
Hell has infinite donuts
Welcome to the dark side. Are you surprised you finished all the donuts when you went to Hell the first time?
Nanana Batman
Demon : come to dark side donuts here!
Homer: OK mm don ots
Worst thing Homer did was frame his wife for drunk driving. By far. Also please do the dark side of Lisa. She’s quite mean on the inside
We hear so much about this that we need to do the light side of Lisa, because no one talks about any of the good things she's done.
@@strawberrysoulforever8336 ...she's done good things? I thought all she did was berate the citizens of springfield and chastise everyone for being lesser beings than she is
@@jamesduncan6729 You just proved my point. Although her treatment of Ralph in "I Love Lisa" wasn't nice, she originally gave him her Valentine out of kindness and tried to let him down gently after Marge advised her on what to say. Her attempt to make a positive female model talking doll was done to combat Malibu Stacy, but it was a much better way, solving the situation instead of complaining about it (she started from there, but grew past it). She did her best to connect with Homer on sports and all he did was use her gambling talent. And if you bring up the vegetarian episode, I give you the Buddhist episode, where she stood firm on her religious beliefs no matter the pressure, but didn't force anyone else to do it (although people persecuted her the same way they did when she went vegetarian). Also, she's the one who got Springfield Lake cleaned up in the movie. See, this is why we need a light side of Lisa video. No one ever remembers the good she's done. Being selfish is something all kids grow out of.
@@strawberrysoulforever8336 she didn't do any of that out of the kindness in her heart. She only did all that after berating everyone and riding her moral high horse
This is just a reply section of Simps and Haters
Two things. One, I when I watched the series I personally immediately realized what was wrong with these actions (mainly the strangling) and as a result, I’ve always had the unpopular opinion of (call me Frank Grimes) disliking him.
Two, there’s something I’ve especially disliked about the strangling gag: they can’t pick a lane between it being serious or pure slapstick. As you pointed out, some days it shows Bart to be badly affected by it. Other episodes, Bart isn’t even slightly affected by it and the abuse is strictly laughable.
see this person gets me
ye a lot of these times bart isn’t mainly affected an’ all, though there are moments in later seasons that lampshade it and wondering how he feels
Homer hasn't strangled Bart in almost a decade
Also the issue is that for the first two seasons Homer was more aggressive but he transitioned into a lovable goof during season 3 which causes a disconnect
The abusive neglectful drunk has a dark side? I'm shocked.
This is more of an honorable mention.
Advocating for deportation.
Homer advocated for the law to deportation unregistered immigrants. Affecting Apu, Moe, and groundskeeper Willie. While he did change his mind about immigrants, Willie (if I remember right) was still deported.
Also the issue of prisoner overcrowding should be solved with mass executions in a throwaway joke
Yes...but that wasn't unique to Homer. Most of Springfield voted that way.
How is that bad if anything he should have kept his views no illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in America
I think this just further highlights how sad it is that Homer evolved into a brainless, relatively charmless slob in later seasons. In earlier years Homer did plenty of bad things, but he also had something of a conscience and definitely had heart.
The older episodes really had alot of heart in the stories showing the family was actually pretty close. They don't do that now
Why is this comment the truest thing I've ever heard?
@Tomaskers Homer was one of my favorite cartoon dads in the first eight or so seasons. He's shown to be human, not knowing that his stupidity causes harm to the people he loves and shows to learn or at least be impacted by that. Now he's so void of empathy and character it's just dark
Homer is me and I am him and we are all together..
@@alicekranyk4173 And are we the walrus?
Homer was right though about Football in the Groin though, he was the only one who saw it for the masterpiece it was
One thing that’s always made me especially hate homer is the effect his antics has on his children. We see Bart, not only physically abused, but emotionally and verbally too. Homer strangles him, demeans him, and shows no real love to the kid. Reminder: Bart is *ten*, these are extremely important years in his life, and this trauma will go on to affect him for a long, long time. We see some of this trauma in the Simpsons Movie with Bart seeing what it would be like to have a real father with Flanders. We see him flinch as Flanders pats him on the back only to find it a completely foreign feeling and ask again for Flanders to show him that minimal praise.
Homer has definitely got problems with his entire family, but he has, and will, effect Bart the most. And that is why I have an extremely difficult time liking him.
Yes! And don’t forget the way he forgets Maggie’s name, and often just calls her small Lisa. He also often ignores Lisa, and refuses to assist her in education or assistance that would fit her intellect, and acts annoyed by her presence atleast once in every episode. He acts like an asshole when marge is giving birth to magor, making small jabs at her throughout the ordeal, and not even holding her hand. I mean, remember “Lisa’s Substitute.” He just seams oblivious to Lisa’s intelligence, and ignores Mr. Bergstrom when he tells him to take charge and care for his daughter.
@@terribleliteraturehe loves Maggie very much
I mean Herb gave Homer absolutely no oversight on designing that car to the point he only first saw it at the showroom. That's entirely on him
I think a good spin on a "dark side" video would be a video on the times
Bart's pranks went too far they tend to fall more into the dark pile in later seasons.
He spent many of his episodes in recent season just trying to kill Homer.
Also, Bart’s definitely a badly raised sociopath in later seasons. In earlier seasons however, he did have a good heart.
Lydia should make a video about Flanders and toxic positivity, if we're on the topic of dark truths.
That would be a great video, one of the episodes touched the topic. When the town rebuilt Neds house
His day dreaming is pretty dark too
I always remember that dream he had where he takes joy in killing grampa his own father that seemed so out of place for him and something he would never do but then again he joked about how he put abe in a home after three weeks when his own father gave him a place to live.
He also dreamed of ned flanders in a burning building after ned saved his ass from his own house fire.
One thing from the car that Homer made did eventually become a standard in modern cars: bigger cup holders. So yeah, that car did have one thing that people would want.
Homer strangling Bart is probably my least favorite running gag.
The best gag was him and his brain talking to each other and they scrapped that in the early seasons!
Homer strangling Bart is only a fiction.
@@SlapstickGenius23 actually,it is canon, since it appears in the shorts
Me too. It’s child abuse.
Doing a video about me would require a two parter.
Don't worry Mr Burns, I'll be coming for you soon enough!
Only 2?
I think more like 200!😄😄😄😄😄😄
😆😆😆😆💕💕💕💕
@@internetexplorer3513 It would require a lot more. Basically, she will have to keep releasing episodes about Mr Burns to only scratch the surface
Casual Observer- Geez I didn't know Homer was so mean spirited!
Me: Trust me, Homers been hating his neighbors for over 20+ years! Even made a hit song about it!
Despite all that he's still a better character than Modern Peter Griffin.
@@JosephRailwayStudios2000 1,000 % agree with you! ❤️ All modern Peter is, is a jaded jerk who expect people to forgive his many, MANY, shenanigans .
@@LowellLucasJr. Well classic Peter definitely has his lovable moments
As a kid I loved that car he designed for his brother. I never understood why nobody was happy with it😂
I mean Homer did feel bad about it - if that happened in todays Simpsons, he wouldn't care.

The worst thing homework has done is put a gun to Marge’s face, that is so dark

@@bemasaberwyn55 Okely dokely!
Maybe a dark side of the entire Simpsons family. Also, I'm not sure if I heard the normal intro today.
Thinking Homer is a "Perfect Person". That's a paddling.
Riding a canoe. That's a paddling.
Thinking that this joke is cringe. You better believe that's a paddling.
I still find it weird that the cops and the FBI chased homer's mom all over the place, but they don't give a shit at what homer does who has done far worse
Yay, the first episode Lydia has uploaded since I have been subscribed to her.
Loving the channel by the way.
Aw thank you 😀
Homer's great-grandfather Old Tut Simpson had an entire academy dedicated to child strangling
There was a scene young Homer strangling Abe, aka Grandpa. Abe told him he can't have sweets because his bad grades, Homer yelled his favorite line "Why you little !" and started strangling Abe.
A kid. Strangling an adult man.
Man, I’ve loved the Simpsons since forever really, and I’ve seen a lot of Simpsons theories, but this one is definitely my favourite so far!
Thank you 😁
I always saw Homer strangling Bart as commentary on spanking your child. In the world of the simpsons all the violence of real life is turned up to 11 as a way to hold a mirror up to society. Homer strangling Bart is the show saying "well if you're willing to spank your child to punish them, why not strangle them? How are the two things really that different? They're both physical punishments." Idk at least that's how I always saw it.
Strangling is way worse it could break there throat if homer keeps doing it.
I need some Lenny and Carl right now haha 😂
This video was so well made! Great video once again! :D
As much of a Simpsons fan I am, I've never once found the Homer strangling Bart running gag funny or entertaining, just pure disturbing
Homer even tried to frame marge for the auto dialer and stealing cable but flanders isn't that great either he also using fear of god to control them but this video is about homer I guess
You can say homer has a lot of Iner demons
Woah not even a minute into the video and the editing is already amazing!!!!! Great job Lydia! :)
Thanks so much Lettie! This was a fun one to edit!
Homer is a lot like my dad. Well intentioned, and often tries to be the good guy and even capable of being really affectionate but, because of his own past, and underlying conditions undiagnosed like bi-polar, and a definite need for therapy (which was abismal at best in the 80s and expensive) which results in bad decisions, aggressive behavior (that is forgotten as quickly as it happens), and other things but, none of things make him a bad person just someone who's had a rough life, and shouldn't be taken seriously. As a kid the phrase "Blow up, walk away, calm down and forget" was basically the process for my dad and the thing my dad and I bonded over was The Simpsons because my mom and dad always saw my dad in Homer for better or worse. That said. I'm 22 and despite my dads less than perfect nature I do still love him and I wouldn't stand for anyone thinking him a bad person even if he can be an asshole and an idiot he still means well. I feel homer is very similar or emulating the writers own flawed but still loved family.
In modern Simpsons homer is like modern day Patrick on SpongeBob
Actually that sounds about rights.
Yes.
So true
It’s true Homer tends to “strangle “ Bart but..
You never see him do that to Lisa or Maggie.( thank goodness he won’t strangle a baby)
Not Peter on the other hand. You can see the crap he does to Meg.
You gotta wonder both Meg and Bart are the oldest child in respected family . But it’s a weird gag to abuse or crap on the oldest child .
Thank goodness Bob Belcher doesn’t harm Tina or any of his kids
I really love your channel it’s making me feel better during these though times 😁
No TV, no beer, make Homer crazy
As I got older and watched the earlier episodes, I noticed how incredibly annoying Homer is , to the point where I can barely watch the show.
Love this channel keep the simpson alive I got my son watching it now he loves it I grow up on the simpson I won't him to aswell 💛💛💛
Awesome! That must be nice to watch together 🙂
Are you planning on teaching him to spell?
@@waynemarvin5661 dyslexia is a nightmare so no I very much doubt I'll be teaching him to spell y you ask anyway
I just started watching this video but so far I can say that intro is so cool
The strangling thing has 2 things she didn't mention. Hibbert mentions broken tracheal bones that homer blamed on a tight bow tie and that in homerland (or one of the episodes where homer becomes calm) Bart mentions he can finally sing because of the aforementioned calm and non-strangling homer
Also, the almost destroyed Springfield thing can mostly be called gross negligence, not a dark side to homer
Even though the destroying Springfield thing could've just been negligence, framing Marge is worse than murder
your videos are such high quality and so in depth! Plus it's nice to see British content that isn't cynical (although I do enjoy that too)
Thank you 😁
Great video but if you can can you make a itchy and scratchy bets episodes soon
Also a "most insane simpsons episode plots " video would be great ...
One episode is a must have on such a list ... i think we all know...
The show used to be more realistic with some fantasy gags thrown in from time to time ... but not so much anymore.
I'm surprised you didn't mention some of the other fatal car accidents he caused. There are probably more, but these are the ones I remember.
Homie the Clown - Homer slams on his brakes so he can see the new billboards, causing a multi-vehicle accident that bursts into flames.
The Trouble With Trillions - He runs a red light trying to get to the post office, causing 2 cars at the intersection to crash with one of them getting completely flattened.
Pray Anything - He closes his eyes and starts praying while driving causing a truck carrying bacon to crash into an over turned truck carrying fudge.
Very good examples! Wish I included them
You've just received a new subscriber. Also, 500th comment!
i want to see a da4k side of ned because he's a lot more then you think like in the movie he says "ill make that real blood" to bart and how he had anger issues as a kid also he's been really close to snapping so many times
in retrospectice this makes Mona Simpsons looks terribly for abandoning Homer as a child
This is literally my new favourite channel!! Love it!!
Let us not forget Marge. She was seduced many times by other men. The difference is that homer didn’t really care. A better person than homer, but not perfect.
Interesting word choices.
I love the intro. Keep up the great work
I love the intro for the dark side episode's
You should do the Dark side of Ned Flanders + Great video (as always)
He's on the list 🙂
One of his worst offenses in my opinion was lying about getting rid of the gun, and then getting defensive when Marge moved herself and the kids out.
Man, this show goes to dark places
hes got dr nick's blood on his hands?? homer! that man gave you heart surgery! D:

How are your videos such high quality for your view count? Wow!
Homer invoked Order 66 on Maude.
7:55 Very rational actually, considering the entire Flanders bloodline (except Thistlewick) is full of bookburners.
Homer a loveable goof but yikes these moments just guarantees a place for him downstairs don’t it if anything him framing Marge was definitely his worst
Great Video !
You should definitely do Mr Burns or Bart both of them have done some bad things but more so Mr Burns
I'd like to see a Light Side of Mr Burns video. He's so evil it's hard to list everything he's done. He's only able to get away with it because he never manages to cause lasting damage and because he throws money at any problem.
I can't believe "smell you later" replaced "good bye".
No mention of him leaving a loaded gun where the kids could easily find it because "he didn't think Marge would find out"?
Darksimpsons proves it.. "Call my name, that name again is.. MR PLOW."
“Drooled over Maude’s peanuts” 😂😂😂
You made some good points but Homer can't be reasonably blamed for tanking his brother's company. Herb trusted his company with someone with no experience. Homer is a scapegoat for mismanagement.
Good point, I'll be touching on this on next week's video when I talk about Herb again 🙂
3:01 This one was more on Herb than Homer. Herb's employees told him that he wasn't fit for the job, Homer himself even told him and Herb didn't listen
New subscriber. Great videos.
I think that Frank Grimes was a pretty sad thing. He acted like his heart was in the right place or he was ignorant but the man flat out told Homer his feelings and Homer ignored him.
How about a dark side of Abe Simpson?
Anyone who hinges the success of their company on Homer is at fault....Herb made a terrible business decision, Homer just followed directions in the way that anyone who knows him would expect him to.....that’s exactly how I would picture a car designed by Homer

Homer helped Ned with the store, not hurt. Ned was the only person to blame for his store going under. It was Homer that single right handedly saved that store. Ned was the one that FAILED to do any marketing at all and used his money on services that didn't earn him any business.
His worst thing was when he made a cerial killer of ned but that was non cannon
Ooo, I would love a theory of Homer eventually causing the mutants in Futurama when he was the sanitation commissioner for Springfield. His toxic waste underground eventually formed the ground work for others to do the same
I love the editing in this vid
Idk if it’s canon or not but in the simpsons tapped out game, he destroyed Springfield at the start of the game because he ignored the warnings that were going of before the nuclear plant exploded
You forget that Homer made Fank Grimes insane, cousing him to a suicide.
If Frank Grimes was black, that would be the ultimate white privilege episode.
In fairness homer didn't do anything bad in that episode he tried to befriend grimes and even warned him before he touched the wires that killed him
@@varianmetcalf8220 I know but from the begining, Homer was kinda anoying to Grimey
