@@JayandKarolina Hopefully when you come back they will have done up the Town Hall. That is a beautiful building. As ever you to were great guides to what is my nearest city. Naturally you have seen but a fraction of Manchester. And yet, in my near 80 years you have introduced me to a couple of places I've walked past innumerable times, but never had a peek inside: the wonderful John Rylands Library and the M/cr's Cathedral, wherein my mother and father were married prewar in 1938. Pity the weather was so dank, but that's pretty much M/cr's trademark. Many thanks for the tour.
Your comment is so touching! We're so glad we brought all these memories back and showed you a glimpse of Manchester from our perspective :) Thank you so much for watching! Take care!
Been watching some of your vids for a while - but now subscribed. You're a very pleasant couple and easy to watch. Lived in Manchester for many years but now live in the Newcastle area, loved your videos from the North East. Manchester has changed an incredible amount over the last 20 odd years - I do get down there a couple of times a year. However, my heart now belongs to the North East - Manchester is too busy and expensive to live there now. (And yes, stay away from Piccadilly Gardens - horrendous place, has been for years). That Brewdog hotel looks amazing. I'd definitely consider it next time I'm there as a treat, I can imagine it's expensive! EDIT - "This 'n That" is a legendary place amongst locals - incredible value for what you get as long as you like Indian food. I'm bloody hungry now!
It's so nice to hear that - because it's one thing to shoot vlogs and another to know that people really like them 😍 We feel most comfortable in the north of the UK, but don't yet know where specifically! Even if we don't drink beer much the Brewdog Doghouse Manchester was great - very ambient, with delicious food and in a great location! Speaking of Indian food - Jay's mum cooks brilliantly, so we can easily taste the authentic flavours, but the food at ‘This and That’ was simply PHENOMENAL 💛
Glad you enjoyed it Simon! Manchester definitely has just become one of our UK cities! And best of all, you can always come back and do more things because Manchester has a lot to offer 😍 We're also taking a flight off to China in September from Manchester Airport so have already planned to come the day before!
Welcome aboard! Thank you so much 😍 We constantly try to make our videos better and put a lot of effort into planning to hope you’ll like the other videos too!
Oh yeah, we truly did! That time around we only had like 2-3 days to explore but we would definitely need to be back after our Asia adventures! We found the John Rylands library and the Manchester Cathedral so captivating though :)
Glad you enjoyed it! It was also the biggest highlight of our visit to Manchester! It’s so stunning!!!!! 😍✨ And knowing its past history it makes it even more charming.
Loved the video J and K, i like the way you involve the people who live and work there. You ask questions and most people take delight in answering and that is so nice. These videos of yours just let everyone know that most of us living on this planet are a friendly lot no matter how hard some try to make it not so. But that said doesn't mean you are "off the hook". First it was the steam trains in York. Now the not knowing what "that thing" was ( record player). I can''t wait o see what you don't know about China.
Thanks James ❤️ We try to take into account different opinions of people or interesting facts that local people share with us because it always reflects the city and the reality of the residents :) It's hard to know everything, but curiosity will always lead us to discovering interesting things! In China everything will be new also we probably won't be familiar with most things haha
Born and bred here, never wanted to move away. Its changed a lot and Piccadilly could be improved.. THe people are great. Not sure why its a tourist destination but enjoy.
You should have gone to Manchester City. The Etihad Campus is much more impressive than Old Trafford because there are so many more facilities there. I study in the Reading room of the Rylands library. The nicest place in Manchester is the quadrangle at the University of Manchester on Oxford Rd. Magical and hidden away.
Only been to Manchester once, last year, but it's evidently a city that offers a lot and is thriving in a lot of areas (look at all those skyscrapers!). After watching this, I have more to explore on my next visit. The guy in the cathedral is a credit them - full of interesting info.
Thank you so much! We couldn't agree more - this city is a bit of a contrast, because you can see the preserved history, beautiful architecture, artistic districts, great food options but also in the same time modern solutions! So like we had said Manchester became for us one of our favourite cities in the UK ❤️🎉
Holy Jesus! I was very interested by your great video, so much so that I looked on the Brewdog hotel website for prices. For ONE night for 2 people was £330!! Seriously? Last month I had a week in Hurgada all inclusive for £700 per person (there were two of us). That included the flight! And it didn’t rain, and it was hot, and we were 100M from the Red Sea.
I live near manchester didn't know this restaurant from what I can see it's not just the food the father and son are the nicest people and father a Wanderers supporter what more could you want nice vibe all the customer's happy 😊,
Excellent video guys! 😀 I really enjoyed it as I used to spend many days of my misspent youth buzzing around Manchester City centre exploring and it brought it all back to me again. Happy days! I only live 20 miles away now in High Peak Derbyshire, but not been there for many years. After watching this I really want to go back again. Another place which is great to see there is the Manchester University Museum with all the ancient Egyptian relics. They have revamped it all just very recently, so I bet it's a really cool place to visit now no doubt? Also If you go into that round Central Library building, they have got an elevator that goes horizontally, it's mad! Good ole Madchester, 🐝Nice one and looking forward to your next video. 😁
It's very kind of you! Thank you so much for all the insights and watching the video 😍 It definitely wasn't our last time in Manchester so we have some great reasons to be back!
What a brilliant video. Apart from the fact that MCR is blue! Should have gone to The Etihad. MCR was voted the 8th best city in the world for nightlife in the recent Time Out magazine poll. Glad you loved my city. 🐝
Well said! Manchester is definitely at the top of our list of cities in the UK, so we'll be back there soon - in fact, we're flying to China from MAN airport in the second week of September this year, so we've already planned on coming to Manchester for a day trip before we leave to spend some more time there 😍
New sub... just spotted your Mancs video, really nice job of exploring this post industrial, eclectic city. You guys rock😊👍🕺Looking forward to your China trip. All the best😊
Awesome! Thank you! We love to hear from you these things because it makes us happy doing the job you appreciate :) We're counting the days now since our flight is booked in 3 weeks time! 😍🇨🇳
It’s a shame it rained in Manchester while you were here. It doesn’t rain as much as you’re told. I live here and I didn’t know about the Brewdog hotel.
Aww, that's so sweet! But I literally drink the tea right after pouring it, so even if something spilled, it probably wouldn't bother me haha - it's weird, I know, but that's just how I am 😂😂 [Karolina]
36:01 😂😂😂 My Wife and I literally were in that Cathedral in December as we visited the Chtismas Markets and because they were soread all across the City, we ended up near there and so dropped in to look. I didnt have any clue that those carvings were there under the seats, let alone how a guide would describe one as "piss in a bottle!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂 he isnt holding back is he! 😂😂😂😂😂 THIS is what I love about my Home City, the humour!!
So cool! We're pretty sure your daughter will love it! And you Samantha will have interesting things to do each time you visit her! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it! We put a lot of energy into planning and filming so comments like this are so rewarding! And also we want to showcase not only the essence of the city but also what it TRULY is so hope we managed to do that when in Manchester 😍
That’s not the original aflecks palace, the original burnt down I think it was across the road.i use to buy all my hip hop and white label vinyl in the 80es
Being guided by Steve was truly an incredible enrichment to our experience and general view of cathedrals in the UK! And all of Manchester had some amazingly preserved historical gems - The Rylands Library, The Viaduct etc.❤️ As you know, we slept pretty much in the city centre and had no safety issues. But there are always more suspicious people in big cities so I would just recommend being aware of it at any time...
@@JayandKarolina yea and other cities in England are so messy right now. Maybe one day will visor Manchester and also surprised to see there is a Selfridges there :)
Manchester is a superb city and I’m a Yorkshireman. I often walk from Worsley into the city along the Bridgewater Canal which is the last stretch you walked into Castlefields. I dislike Brewdog due to the CEO refusing his staff in London a £1 pay rise but fuck me that hotel looks good. Hate to say it.
1:02:15 You are entering Castlefield Basin which is where the Bridgewater Canal (from Worsley Delph) meets the Rochdale Canal at Dukes Lock. Here is the heavy history of the Industrial Revolution where all the coal from the Delph was shipped to the Basin and offloaded to power the steam factories. It is a fascinating place and the melting pot of old architecture meets new is ever present throughout the City. Bringing together the building that looked derelict at the beginning of this video, Afflecks Palace, and Castlefield Basin is a video you can search for of Zane Lowe interviewing 1975 singer Matty Healy where he explains the derelict building and the poster on the stairs in Afflecks Palace and also they take in the Castlefield Basin as part of a walking interview. A fascinating watch! The 1975 are essentially recognised as a Manchester band. Guy this video has been epic so far!!!!!
Thank you for these historical insights Chris! We will definitely have to return to Manchester for more as it really is an industrial gem of England ❤️ Glad you liked the video because we had so much fun filming it!
Great Video so much detail . Manchester does have a bad reputation from other channels but the Cathedral looked nice and the man that showed you around Steve was very nice, The Curry place was nice not having to pay anything can you put a link to him in your comments. I am surprized you knew what a record player was. Please visit Tenby in Wales . Les adverts in the feed please was a little to much on this video did spoil the enjoyment a little.
Many thanks! This city really made a big impression on us because everyone will find something for themselves - and the nice people and beautiful, industrial buildings only encourage you to visit Manchester even more! So far, we've only visited Llandudno which absolutely has stolen our hearts so I'm sure we'll do more of Wales exploring soon! 😍
Thanks for watching! It's so true, haha, it was the only part of the city that was just very dodgy and actually stood out (in a negative sense 😂😂) from any other areas of Manchester we visited!
Best cities in UK 1. Southampton / Sandbanks / Isle of Wight, 2. Oxford 3. Bath 4. York 5. Cambridge 6. Chester Manchester mostly a dump like Liverpool and now London
35:00 Imagine just you and the boys building chairs for the church in the 1400s and your making just some people gambling and your colleagues chuckling to himself "Its a monkey serving pee in a bottle"
Dennis Law was a Scottish footballer who played most of his career at Manchester United. He was transferred to Manchester City where he scored the goal that relegated United. He didn't celebrate. Narrow boats have a 7 foot width (beam) whereas other canal boats are widebeams (up to 14 foot wide) or general cruisers. All are canal boats.
Well you definitely visited the wrong football ground entirely there, but aside from that its a pretty good video .... i go in 'This and That' reguarly when i'm on a city centre pub crawl on a Saturday with the lads.
Although United has a larger fan base, the majority of the fans are from outside of Manchester, the city of Manchester is majority City fans when comparing the two, and United have never had a shop in the city centre, but City have had a shop in the city centre for probably about 10 years maybe more, I can't remember when the first City store opened on market street, as it used to be on the outside of the arndale.
Thank you for mentioning the pot smoke in your video! I am highly allergic to marijuana; so I will make sure I have plenty of benadryl when I visit Manchester! 🙂
You guys are not serious. You went to Castlefield to look at the Viaduct garden, but not the Roman Forts? You didn't go to any of the galleries or museums. You didn't go Trafford centre, or The Triangle. You didn't go to any theatres. Looks like you went early in the morning and everywhere was closed, or even Sunday morning. I have never in my life seen the City centre that empty, and i live there lol.

@@ruthmckee4905 Thank you so much for sharing your thought so Ruth! Mcr has been developing very fast over the last couple of years so it’s interesting to hear that :)
Yes loving these videos. I’m coming to England in January. However I will only be in London. But it’s lovely to see all the stuff we can come back and see!! Great videos guys. Excited to see the China videos as well!!
Sounds great! Manchester will be way different during the winter time but we believe it will be very charming indeed 😍 Thank you so much for watching!
Little hint: we're counting the days now for our China trip since our flights are booked in 3 weeks time!!!
Nice video of Manchester I love it I’m a local Manc
❤❤
It’s a very cool city indeed 😍 Glad you enjoyed watching the video!
I was at This and That yesterday. And the curry is so delicious!!
I've been looking forward to this video! Makes me miss Manchester a lot.
Glad you enjoyed it Simon! Manchester definitely has just become one of our UK cities! And best of all, you can always come back and do more things because Manchester has a lot to offer 😍 We're also taking a flight off to China in September from Manchester Airport so have already planned to come the day before!
@@JayandKarolina Oh wonderful! I've flown to Beijing from Manchester with Hainan and it was an excellent flight. Hoping to try Juneyao next year.
Lovely to see you guys
We're so glad you've been enjoying watching our videos! :) Thanks!
Thanks for visiting my city, I am very glad that you liked it and had a good time.
Just discovered your channel guys, watched the Manchester vlog and loved it, looking forward to the rest.
Welcome aboard! Thank you so much 😍 We constantly try to make our videos better and put a lot of effort into planning to hope you’ll like the other videos too!
Love the video, thank you. Pete.👍
I'm so glad you enjoyed Manchester.Theres a lot of history here, if you care to look it up :)
Oh yeah, we truly did! That time around we only had like 2-3 days to explore but we would definitely need to be back after our Asia adventures! We found the John Rylands library and the Manchester Cathedral so captivating though :)
Another good travel vlog, especially liked the John Rylands Library and super clear camera to capture it 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! It was also the biggest highlight of our visit to Manchester! It’s so stunning!!!!! 😍✨ And knowing its past history it makes it even more charming.
Its fabulous that you were in Manchester. 😮. Great vlog. Well done to both of you. ⭐🙏🏻
Thank you so much (Mal?) :) We really enjoyed Manchester so hope the energy is transferred to the video!
@@JayandKarolina thanks Jay. It's Malcolm. I live in Manchester. Also love your Chester vlog.
i've a close family member at university manchester now i know where to go when i take my first visit there 🙂 love the hippy part
My sister used to study in Manchester and she absolutely loved it! You should visit the Northern quarter and Castlefield area for sure then 🤩🎨
Loved the video J and K, i like the way you involve the people who live and work there.
Thanks James ❤️ We try to take into account different opinions of people or interesting facts that local people share with us because it always reflects the city and the reality of the residents :)
It's hard to know everything, but curiosity will always lead us to discovering interesting things! In China everything will be new also we probably won't be familiar with most things haha
The cabbage in This n That is my favourite thing ever🎉
Yes, the cabbage was delicious - but being completely honest, we loved everything 😍😋
The Koffee Pot in the Northern Quarter do the best breakfasts in town
Born and bred here, never wanted to move away. Its changed a lot and Piccadilly could be improved.. THe people are great. Not sure why its a tourist destination but enjoy.
Thank you for your introduction of this city ❤nice ~~hope you enjoyed your stay in Manchester ✌️I love Boddingtons beer the most 😂
We absolutely loved it and Mcr became one of our favourite UK cities 😍 Also the Brewdog experience was incredible 🔥 Thank you so much for watching!
You should have gone to Manchester City. The Etihad Campus is much more impressive than Old Trafford because there are so many more facilities there. I study in the Reading room of the Rylands library. The nicest place in Manchester is the quadrangle at the University of Manchester on Oxford Rd. Magical and hidden away.
as a mancunian I love this video, feel free to reach out if you come again will be happy to show you other hidden gems of my amazing city.....
Sounds great! And we're so happy we lived up to your expectations too! Loved Manchester so we'll definitely be back soon 😍
I live in Manchester, and I STILL want to book into that crazy beer hotel!!
We totally feel you Justin! It really was a great experience 🥳🥳
Great informative vlog ❤keep making more
narrow boats a flat top is a barge i worked on that canal from Old Trafford to Castlefield renovating the walkways and bridges
Yey! Another Day, Another Vlog 🤍🤍🤍
Glad you enjoyed it Edward :) More to come! 🎉
I live near manchester didn't know this restaurant from what I can see it's not just the food the father and son are the nicest people and father a Wanderers supporter what more could you want nice vibe all the customer's happy 😊,
Yes, you are right! Really worth checking it out then soon! It's called "This and That" :)
I live in Manchester and you’ve shown me places I didn’t know about! . Would of love to shown you other places that I know about
We're glad to hear that - love to make videos showcasing not only the most popular spots but also some hidden gems or places beloved by the locals :)
Hi Jay, congratulations on the video you made 😄
Hi Karolina, you're always nice as always 😍
Thank you for watching and your support! Really appreciate it :)
It’s a shame it rained in Manchester while you were here. It doesn’t rain as much as you’re told. I live here and I didn’t know about the Brewdog hotel.
So far this summer has not been the best but we believe Manchester is even nicer when the weather is better 😌 A good reason to be back soon!
Our experience at the Brewdog Doghouse Manchester was just incredible!
Long eaton is in Derbyshire , it doesn’t matter about the postcode.
I was so scared for Karolina's fingers as you were pouring that hot tea in the cup.
We absolutely loved walking through the cathedral with Steve because we wouldn't have known half the stuff either! And the humour was really CLASS 🤩🤩
from notts also :) watched this as daughter is just moved to manchester, so checking it out before we visit . enjoy china
So cool! We're pretty sure your daughter will love it! And you Samantha will have interesting things to do each time you visit her! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Brewdog hotel is round the corner from my office, you showed Manchester well
😬😬
How many times has Jay mentioned Pick n Mix on this Manchester trip 😂😂
TOO MANY 🥲 [Karolina]
Great City, great vlog. Subscribed
Awesome, thank you! Hope you'll stay with us a bit longer :) We have plenty of content coming your way 🥳
That full English looked the business
Fantastic review of your time in manchester, really well produced 👍 great content guys.
Glad you enjoyed it! We put a lot of energy into planning and filming so comments like this are so rewarding! And also we want to showcase not only the essence of the city but also what it TRULY is so hope we managed to do that when in Manchester 😍
Very industrial? Might be being the birth of the Industrial Revolution being the major Manchester’s identity.
That’s not the original aflecks palace, the original burnt down I think it was across the road.i use to buy all my hip hop and white label vinyl in the 80es
Manchester, United Kingdom its awesome.
It really is! United people, friendly atmosphere and nice surrounding :) Not even mentioning the food scene!
Oh I love the tour of the church and the architecture is amazing. I would love to visit Manchester one day and is it fairly safe in the evening?
Being guided by Steve was truly an incredible enrichment to our experience and general view of cathedrals in the UK! And all of Manchester had some amazingly preserved historical gems - The Rylands Library, The Viaduct etc.❤️
As you know, we slept pretty much in the city centre and had no safety issues. But there are always more suspicious people in big cities so I would just recommend being aware of it at any time...
@@JayandKarolina yea and other cities in England are so messy right now. Maybe one day will visor Manchester and also surprised to see there is a Selfridges there :)
@@chalayanThere are actually two branches of Selfridges in Manchester…the one in the city centre and the other at the Trafford Centre
@@tommyboy0161 i see. Thanks for the info :)
Ps that area at night in nq is really a good vibe
Nice channel! Adorable couple! Subbed!
You are so kind! Thank you so much 😍 Hope you’ll stay with us a bit longer!
Go to Picadilly Gardens when there is a heatwave and it looks very different
👀
Brewdog is a Scottish based brewery not English. It has pubs across all Uk not just England.
I'm a big fan of Brewdog IPA's but never knew they had their own premises! Nice vid ;)
If you love their beers, you'd love the stay in one of the BrewDog hotels 😍 It was such a treat for us too!
I love this doghouse🥹
I can’t believe the man in Manchester cathedral said ‘piss’ haha.
We loved every minute of our Cathedral tour with Steve because he was super knowledgeable but also funny too 🤪🤪
Ahh my city! So glad you like it here
Matt Busby played for city 😂😂😂😂😂😂
And Liverpool but made his mark at Manchester United as a manager
This and That ... dude filling those plates up 😅
The portions were HUGE! And the great thing was that the quality of food was still amazing!
great video! i think most places are great places to visit, apart from Piccadilly Garderns, lol
Chester
Manchester mostly a dump like Liverpool and now London
Brewdog is actually an award winning Scottish craft beer company so their bars are across the UK and overseas, not just England
We didn't know that they're present overseas! Thanks for sharing :)
the owners also treat their staff really poorly
35:00 Imagine just you and the boys building chairs for the church in the 1400s and your making just some people gambling and your colleagues chuckling to himself "Its a monkey serving pee in a bottle"
Best CITY in the world
Well you havent done much travelling then have you if you think that
Dennis Law was a Scottish footballer who played most of his career at Manchester United. He was transferred to Manchester City where he scored the goal that relegated United. He didn't celebrate. Narrow boats have a 7 foot width (beam) whereas other canal boats are widebeams (up to 14 foot wide) or general cruisers. All are canal boats.
He didn't relegate united , other results had already sent us down
You must be a huge Manchester United fan to know all them details Graham! Thank you so much for sharing! :)
Well you definitely visited the wrong football ground entirely there, but aside from that its a pretty good video .... i go in 'This and That' reguarly when i'm on a city centre pub crawl on a Saturday with the lads.
Fair enough haha ⚽️ We absolutely loved everything about "This and That" - the people, atmosphere and obviously the FOOD!
You are so welcome! Yes... it might be unfortunately the case 🤔
You missed a huge opportunity to listen to I Am Kloot…
