We at the VA have decided your injuries are not service related

Sad and true in a lot of cases, so make sure you high speed jumpers get all your injuries documented.

Me, just hearing the wind, why wasn’t the JM on the DZ calling off the jump, the exact way I landed in trees @ Sicily DZ Ft. Bragg f’ing up my neck x 4 titanium plates plus multiple other injuries to boot, also this jumper had the stiffest legs for his PLF, definitely a back injury candidate or neck or legs, etc., the JM should have called range control & cancelled.

@@citizensoliderguy5238: Excuse my ignorance, but is that a Cruciform style Parachute used by the Army Airborn today? I'm asking because I've never seen that particular main chute used before. I learned to jump with old WW2 Cheepo mushroom shaped main using a static line in 1975. Now at 70 years old, I'm still skydiving using my 5th Ram-Air main chute which not only has self inflatable parafoils that not only gives greater speed & direction control, but also spreads the stress of deployment (opening shock) for which these old bones are eternally grateful.

@@nerblebun We jump with the T-11 parachute. The T-11 is the main system we use now. We also use the MC-6 which is steerable, to an extent, but not like what you use to skydive with. I can also assure you that all of our jumps have lots of opening shock and ground shock just to make sure paratroopers aren't sleeping during an airborne operation.

in 1976, I made 13 Jumps under Round Military Parachutes. All but 1 of my landings felt like I was jumping off of a 2 Story Moving Building. The last Jump disabled me for 1 year with a moderately sprained foot.

Been there, done that, did not ever enjoy those kind of dynamite landing falls. Saw one guy who came in hot and oscillating so bad from side to side that he landed "face first", thought he broke his neck, he did not move, so started yelling for a medic right away. Never found out his final status.

Yep that is a big "NO GO" never ever reach for the ground with your feet, always keep those feet and knees together when getting ready to conduct that dynamite PLF...

I guess with the new T-11 that's a hard landing. That looked pretty standard for a T-10 though.
