Thanks again for the great videos! Ticks freak me out too. Good job being safe! Would like to see you go back in that canyon and find all the other cars down there! Mayby this winter when it cools off?
I'd say the Chrysler Cordoba was a theft dump. Poor lil '94-'98 S10! I've had a couple S10s, and they were both great rigs. 110°! I was sweating with the idea of wearing that much clothing in the desert! I'm from Western Washington, so when it gets over 75°, that's hot to me! Thank you for the great videos!
Thanks for the video! It is amazing to me how much effort you put in making these, and how many interesting things can be found in these ditches I drive by!
It's always good to be careful, because ticks are small, they do a lot of damage, just be careful, this hill is full, Saturn, Honda, Chevy Nova, lots of courage going down these hills, greetings!
You are the man for going through that field filled with Poison Oak rattlesnakes and scorpions, too bad its very complicated that pile of cars looks like a really good stash of parts the manual 5 speed transmission from the S10 and the complete engine and chrome trim bumpers from that 71/74 Honda civic CVCC you don't see many anymore. The Chevy looks like a G body platform
That third car next to the upside-down Saturn is either a Chrysler Cordoba or a Dodge Charger, like 1975-78 or so. Pretty sure, anyway. I have had a few Cordobas, love them. My Grandmother had a 76 Charger SE, man I would LOVE to have that car! Oh....just heard Chrysler emblem, obviously a Cordoba then.
Later generation "rounded Chevrolet S-10", but with the VIN number (leave off the last six digits), I can tell you exactly what you have found. Also don't confuse "CVCC" with "CIVIC", although the Civic did use the CVCC (Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion). In fact, Honda proved it was relevant technology as in the 1970s they embarrassed GM by fitting a Chevrolet 350 V8 with it. The system allowed them to meet US emissions standards without the use of catalytic converters in the early years. I'm going to say the newest that Civic could be is a 1979, but it's likely older than that. The Chrysler is a 1975 to 1979 Cordoba, possible code K3 Bittersweet exterior paint. They were assembled in Windsor, Ontario Canada, a plant that still operates today and produces minivans.
Great video! Ticks are nasty! They carry Lyme's diease, a close cousin to Syphilis with the same symptoms and outcomes. Just of one of several types of kooties they ferry to man and beast. White 100% cotton overalls would be cooler, well, not as hot.
Glad you made it down there and more importantly out of that ravine. I wonder if there are more cars nortth of the Chevy s 10 buried in that thicker brush?
The Santa Rosa Mountains are CHOCK full of old cars; the farther back you go, they older they get and the better their condition. See if you can find the complete 1932 Ford Model B Roadster with '56 plates, the Washington Blue 1936 Ford Fordor Sedan, the gray 1939 Lincoln Zephyr V12 or the 1969 Nissan Patrol 4X4. Also, check the opening scenes of "It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World", then look for the place where Jimmy Durante drove his black 1957 Ford Victoria off the cliff. It's only a mile or so up 74 from where the hills begin in Palm Desert. You can also see the remains of a brand-new white 1988 Ford Tempo that was a suicide mission, that landed on top of a black 1973 Datsun 240Z. Both are sprayed with a big orange X by the CHP, to indicate they are old wrecks, and not recent arrivals. Farther up still is a dark blue-ish 1937 Buick Special that was cut apart then tack-welded back together by a filming studio. This was done so it would 'explode' when it hit the ground from the roadway above. And on the east side of 74 there was a 1-year-old red Yugo 2-door someone pushed off when the dealer who sold them the POS car went out of business. Enjoy...!
@@reverserockettv007 In the case of the white 1988 Ford Tempo the car was a mysterious suicide the Sheriff's investigators couldn't completely explain. The car went into the deep canyon one sunny afternoon in November, 1989, but because it wasn't visible from the highway, it went unnoticed for several months - until some aluminum can scroungers came across it the following spring. The driver's remains were still in the car, along with his glasses and checkbook. The personalized license plates EGASUAS ('sausage' backwards) were still on the car with registration expiring in 1989. When the car came to rest against a Datsun 240Z that had been there for years, the front-end plastic shattered. By the time I visited the car, I found the small blue oval Ford grill emblem on the ground and still have it. After getting the Sheriff's hypothesis of what happened, I applied my own deductive reasoning and narrowed it to the only possible explanation. To skip the salad and get to the meat, the driver was a 66-year-old Rancho Mirage retiree who lived on nearby Tanforan Drive. He did his homework to make sure he would not be found any time soon.
Have to say you have guts to do this sort of thing by yourself. In my younger years, I would love to have done this, but not alone incase of getting into trouble. Hope you have one of the newer phones that has satellite communication just incase.
My ex went off the edge in ‘92. He was run off the road by a car that went over the center divider. It was at the county line between OC and Riverside. A tree helped break his fall, and he was left hanging upside down the embankment. His adrenaline got him back up the side. A passerby stopped to pick him up to get back to LE. It was a white Volkswagen. An officer called me a year later, and said ‘I know where your car is’ 😂 I said I know too, my ex was inside of it. He must have thought it was dumped.
Great story! Within the next few days I am going to try and make it back out there because all the recent burns I might be able to hike to vehicle I never could reach because vegetation thickness so I believe the fires might have cleared some of it?
Have you ever found a body in a rice car at the bottom of one of those steep canyons? I admire for persevering and Viking it down and back up from those cars
1st all thanks for the new video . 2nd if you don’t take safety first . 3rd you did kind of look all dressed up with duct tape around your ankles like you just offed somebody and your about to bury their body, you look like Dexter. Lol

The title says it all. Risking your life. You weren't kidding. If you don't have a partner to watch your back then you need a satellite phone incase you run into trouble and there's no cel. service. I know you go slow and don't take chances but it's so easy to catch an edge on a loose rock and sprain your ankle.
you would think it would be better if the highway department erected some sort of high backstop on that corner to protect people from their own stupidity speeding. Over time it seems it would be less expensive than sending recovery crews to evac the victims...
