Give your impressions of how you like it or don't like it... what it's like having to recharge and plan your trip... Got the idea watching you fill up your tank in this video... LOL

The town of Boron is named for the element Boron which is mined as Borax near Boron. Twenty Mule Team references the number of mules used to pull the enormous wagons of borax out of the valley during the 1800s.

Drove through Boron on Friday. Happened to get off the highway to check out something in the town, and found the aerospace museum. The single volunteer was extremely friendly and invited me to tour the interior (having to turn the lights on in the process). They received a lot of their planes from a museum in Lancaster, CA that closed. It might seem like a strange place for an aviation museum, but the proximity to Edwards Air Force Base (hence the B52 flying overhead) is the main reason for its existence.

Some Fathers and, later on, their Sons have piloted the same exact airplane tail numbers. The Pilots and Navigators in a B-52 during a mission are busier than a one-armed paper hanger. 🤯🤠

I am with you there as I like old desert towns if abandoned and any cemeteries even ones in a big city because the epitaphs tell you a lot about people living around those areas as part of the story of those communities . In Glendora in CA they had a good size cemetery I think is called OakGlen which I grew up not far from it . I was with friends more than once reading the tombstones . I was at a funeral there once too in the very early 90s . Wasn't living in the area then .

32:00 The Barrel backstory- For years an orange with black stripes giant barrel has been in Boron serving up food and is one of these former A&W stands. It's basically a food stand with a small outdoor eating area consisting of a few tables and some picnic benches. The giant barrel has a walk-up window, and the place serves all sorts of the usual fast food such as hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, tacos, etc. At one point it was painted white and called Dinky's. Now, it is just called simply "Barrel" which seems much more fitting.

Boron is close to Edwards Air Force Base, hence that huge aircraft you spotted. Excellent video, Adam...I read online (so, take it with a grain of salt) that they are indeed planning to reopen the coaster at Buffalo Bills and are currently testing it pretty regularly (let's hope that's the case!)

How do you go through BORON CA ( pronounced BORE-ON) and drive on Twenty Mule Team Road and miss the biggest and only Borax mine in the USA? Hence the big Tonka Truck you passed. You really missed out there. They have a great visitor center and tour.

Those were telegraph lines that were falling down, not power lines. Telegrams ceased on 2006.
The Royal Hawaiian was used in an obscure 2003 movie called "The Big Empty" starring John Favreau and Joey Lauren Adams.
Also, you've got a spot on your lens on the lower left hand side.

Adam, are planning to do the Universal VIP tour on this trip? With the writer's strike going on, this has stopped most filming. So this would be a great opportunity to visit the Metro and Back to the Future sets via the VIP tour. I know that Provost and Ordinary Adventures got do that recently.

This comment has nothing to do with today’s video. I just wanted to suggest that if you’re ever in Memphis you should visit the world’s largest Bass Pro Shop. It has a bowling alley, hotel, and 28 story glass elevator inside that takes you to an observation deck overlooking Memphis and the Mississippi River. This isn’t very Punk, but Memphis can give you some Funk. Shall you?
