watching you fish is inspiring keep up the good work and great videos. I used the info you had in your how to jigging video to get me set up for jiggin slow pitch next year when i get my kayak. I will mostly fish coastal socal from 30-600 feet in newport beach Ca and i cant wait.
@@jifishingco HaHa well u asked a loaded question 😅 Im very fortunate to live near a very unique fishery where near our coast we have an near shore cavern that runs within less than a couple miles from shore offering us 600 foot depths very close. you gave so much useful info but here's what I bought and what I gleaned from your amazing in depth info. Well I am a psycho like you Sooo I bought 3 setups all Okuma Tesoro slow pitch rods ranging from 80G's to 600G's I bought PE Line in color depth rating for" targeting depth" Genius! I'm running 30 LB on all setups and the PE so when I go deep Line doesn't scope as much with high currents. I bought one spinning for my smaller setup. on my smallest setup I got a Daiwa BG MQ 400D spinning reel on the other two I need to buy casting reels but I'm having a hard time deciding what casting reels to buy there very expensive for the SPJ narrow in the price range of 400 and up. you got any suggestions for more budget minded reels? I'm still trying to narrow down Which Kayak I wanna buy. I have got a host of jigs on hand already for slow pitch my fish finder from my previous Yak.
@@surfersoldierforchrist5928Oh man sounds like you got some good grounds over there! Hell ya! Love me a fellow psycho fisherman 🤣 The colored line is a must in my opinion and 30lb is a good size. I’m running PE 3 on my current heavy setup and I have yet to break it. I haven’t even broke my PE2 set up either. Crazy strong stuff. That’s awesome! Sounds like you’re almost all set. What’s your price range for reels?
@@jifishingco well im looking at torium 16 hga 249.00$ would that be a good one for deep droping up to maybe 300 ft? im tryin stay under 349 what would you reccomend? also if possible a narrow spool.
I know right! I kept one once and it was loaded. Never tried since haha. I have yet to try kahala sashimi. Maybe one day I’ll bring one home and hope for the best.
Mainly because I’m psycho 🤣 Just kidding haha. I recently upgraded to a new unit and kept my old one but wanted to see if two screens was doable. My larger 9” unit is just displaying sonar and my 7” unit is for gps mapping. It’s definitely overkill but really fun to use. Thats so awesome to hear! 🙏🏻 Here in Hawaii?
Nice video ! Have a question, why don't you keep amberjack ? I see a lots of people released this fish, isn't good for eating ? Not on your taste or juste no kill ? :)
Thanks a lot for watching! 🤙🏻 Majority of them in our waters are loaded with parasites so not too many people keep them. I’ve tried in the past but when I cut it open it had a bunch inside so I’ve never taken another one since. They’re supposedly really good eating though, I just don’t want to take its life and not be able to eat it.
Watching your videos makes washing dishes go by a lot faster.
Ayyyyeee!! 🤙🏻 That’s the best time to watch TH-cam haha. I do the same thing. 😂 Thanks for watching!
Tough days can be the best days!!!
That’s true! Adversity makes us stronger 💪🏻

Too bad those kahala are usually wormy. When they don’t have them, they’re super delicious for sashimi.

@@jifishingco We had success with smaller kahala, like 8 pounds, from Hawaii Kai. The bigger ones are almost always riddled with the worms.
@@burlhays4360 maybe one of these days I’ll keep one. If too wormy I’ll give it to my cats haha
Why 2 fish finder ? Thanks for the content by the way. I’m hooked on slow pitch jigging, got inspired by your channel 🤙🤙🤙

Haha I got lucky and found a big school of fish that was just roaming around. Followed them around for a few hours 🤣 It was a fun time.
I would have gone home if I didn’t have bait 😂
Nawh, I wouldn’t let you. I’d lasso you and make you jig with me 🤣
