Not really that helpful as the heats were uneven and some were more stacked than others, hence different effort levels. Wind conversion is more useful for SFs.
As well using a wind adjustment calculator for more accurate times, you also need consider whether a sprinter is shutting it down (Kishane) or running at full speed (Noah)
Really dude??? Kishane had a jog fest for that 10flat with no one close and a false start disruption. 9.96s is not "incredibly fast". SMDH. Lyles has more in the bag and Oblique was immaculate. Kerley, Kong Fu, Simbine all looked good. Hinchcliffe was near full out and Omanyala is an enigma. SFs are all stocked, even if SF1 looks easiest, BUT as its first, all will run blind and thus hard to secure a fastest losers spot in case of no automatic spot.
Stop that jogging mess. Tebogo fans fans finally stopped saying it when he jogged himself into 4 or 5 straight losses. No Thompson doesnt have his foot on the gas like everyone else that won their heat but they ARE NOT JOGGING, if they were jogging to run a 9.8 at full sprint theyvwould run a 8.0 and we all know he isn't doing that because he isn't jogging
You definitely have the best breakdowns Rob 👍🏻👍🏻. I am really pulling for Hinchliffe to medal just because that haircut he is sporting clearly adds speed. The Lyles hype train just doesn’t look like it’s going to play out like the US wants. De Grasse I thought ran very well as did Bednarek. Still see Thompson crushing this if he runs his best race but the field is just gonna be stacked. ✌🏻
Doesn't matter what you did last year or earlier in the season, all that matters it what form the athletes are in right now. It also doesn't really matter what time people post in the prelims. An experienced runner is going to take it as easy as they can and still qualify safely. Thompson, Bednarek, Seville, Omanyala, and Tebojo all made qualifying look easy. Tebojo may not have won his heat, but he was jogging ahead of the field for 90% of the race. Kerley and Hinchliffe both made winning their heats look hard, and Lyles, DeGrasse and Jacobs looked like they were lucky to qualify at all. People get caught up thinking their favorites are just biding their time, but usually the guys who breeze through the heats are the ones standing on the podium at the end.
This man blocked me from commenting. He said that Kishane Thompson 10:03 converted that is a lie. Kishane's time was 10:00. Coach Rob, you are the basis. Kishane clearly is the one who will win this final.
One thing to take into consideration is how did the winners won their heats? Some with fast times have ran their hearts out and that’s their max. I am predicting a fast final with the winner running at least 9.74 Kishane looks to be the man
What matters is how good you look running that time. Kishane looked the best out of everyone. He shut it down 40 metres out from the finish line and made it look very easy. That's scary. I could see the men's 100m being what happened in the women's 100m where Noah is glued to the blocks and has to catch everyone, but Kishane is in front from start to finish. Bednarek, Kerley, Tebogo, and Seville looked great too. Honestly, Noah looked the worst out of all the favorites.
I am telling you here and now that Kishane is winning this. Once he is in the lead Noah is not getting close. Kenneth (Kenny) looks like he is in a better shape... but u can never say who is in 2nd and 3rd. Tebogo was looking ready too, Simbine looks good, Fred looks good but ain't making it to the medal. The Japanese tall mixed race guy Abdul will be a threat. Then there is Oblique Seville who is also capable. This men's 100 meters is going to be red hot
Don’t put too much emphasis on heat times or finish in the 100m sprint at the Olympics. The top two in each heat qualify, and the best sprinters often save their final gear for the later rounds if they don’t need it. In Tokyo the eventual gold winner,Jacobs, came 3rd in his Semi!
"Adjusted for wind speed" but didn't adjust for athletes obviously shutting it down over the last few meters? Kishane looked left, looked right and literally stopped running 50 meters out. Omanyala obviously cruised. I barely have Noah getting bronze in the final and if Oblique Seville can get his life together Noah wont even get that.
Numbers never lie but the Heat numbers lie. People didn't run their best races and some people broke it down very early. Kishane ran 80 meters then coasted and a lot of others did something similar. There is a lot of talent in the field so it will be fun to watch.

I don't think Noah can run down Kishane but to say he won't medal in the comments is just ridiculous. Also, rounds is totally a different beast than a finals, Noah has been on quite a few championship final stages, Kishane hasn't, it can freeze you, look at Ta Lou, Asafa, we'll see though
One cannot analyse outcomes primarily on the outcome of the first round. It was clear as day that the qualifying athletes were all with one or 2 exceptions, running within their capabilities. The only athlete that looked absolutely flat in qualifying was Noah. He knows he will have to overcome what happened in his last race if he is going to be on the podium. Please do not forget that Kishane Thompson ran 9.77 easing up at the Jamaican Trials. After saying all that, some very strange things have been happening to our athletes at this Olympic. Let's wait and see how the script unfold.
The stats are realistic guild and i like your analysis. The real track people knew this one is an open book. I still feel the big guns will come barking and be advised that the two Jamaican or should i say the three guys won with a lot left in the tank.😊
Incorrect. Ben came third in the quarter finals and just got in to the semis. He won his semis beating Linford Christie at 10.03 before running 9.79. Of course we know about the DQ.
@@BDQ1975thanks for correcting me, it was even worst than I realised. The point is if you are looking to win gold at a championship, loosing the preliminary rounds is a good idea for conserving energy.
I suspected Noah Niles took his heat lightly, almost cost him to be left out, I guess he will learn his lesson next time. I am not under estimating coach Rob analysis, look at what happened to the women 100m race.
How can someone say how they feel (or what they feel) and we say they are lying? If you ask someone, "who do they feel will be in the finals, or who will win?", whatever answer they give, shouldn't be called a lie, unless you can read minds.
I think Noah ran it deliberately slow to play mind games with the rest of the field. He will crush the semis. Kishane will be through too. It will come down to the mental games in final 100
I say Lyles gets 3rd or 4th. Idk why, just feel like hes not strong enough. Regardless. Sprinters want to win their heat or qualify exerting the least amount of energy possible, to save themselves for the final.
I am.72 old fat and white waiting for a hip replacement however in 1973 I won big in Australian track on grass...10.5 and I know the politics of heats and semis...someone could write a PhD on it 🎉
Wind gauge calculations is nonsense because the wind speed doesn’t affect each athlete the same way, example, hurricane force winds blowing through a village not every tree falls
U are wrong. Elite athletes only run to qualify for Semifinals. Don't have to win. It is a balancing act because each 100m run takes some wear on your body. Especially if you are way better than the rest of the field, you just have to run good enough to win ur heat.
We can only wait and see right now what happens. Noah’s personality is challenging for me, but I just like watching good races and athletes compete. You’re saying 10.03 isn’t worthy of advancing to the semi finals? Chill. This is gonna be a great next few races 🎉

Even just thinking 🤔 kishane cruised at 50 meters to go 😂😂😂😂stop talking bruv 🙏🏽🌎☮️💙🏴🇯🇲
The stats are realistic guild and i like your analysis. The real track people knew this one is an open book. I still feel the big guns will come barking and be advised that the two Jamaican or should i say the three guys won with a lot left in the tank.😊
Louie Louie Louie… keeps surprising US!!!
In 1988 the great Ben Johnson finished 2nd in his 100m semi final.
Kishane Thompson looked the best and smoothest in the heat.
Wasn't 1988 the same year that Ben Johnson was banned for roids?
Incorrect. Ben came third in the quarter finals and just got in to the semis. He won his semis beating Linford Christie at 10.03 before running 9.79. Of course we know about the DQ.
Ben Jhonson wasn't great, he was a doper and got caught.
@@theobserver6493yes indeed! That was a great injustice to the man and the sport.
@@BDQ1975thanks for correcting me, it was even worst than I realised. The point is if you are looking to win gold at a championship, loosing the preliminary rounds is a good idea for conserving energy.
Go South Africa! Go Botswana!
Tebogo is going to get Gold or Silver...Calling it right now!
Gold in the 200m
I suspected Noah Niles took his heat lightly, almost cost him to be left out, I guess he will learn his lesson next time. I am not under estimating coach Rob analysis, look at what happened to the women 100m race.
I see hyper favorites but no clear favorites there will be three to four guys that can win it and its going to be super close.
How can someone say how they feel (or what they feel) and we say they are lying?
If you ask someone, "who do they feel will be in the finals, or who will win?", whatever answer they give, shouldn't be called a lie, unless you can read minds.
Lyles would be lucky to get a bronze medal
I think Noah ran it deliberately slow to play mind games with the rest of the field. He will crush the semis. Kishane will be through too. It will come down to the mental games in final 100
I say Lyles gets 3rd or 4th. Idk why, just feel like hes not strong enough. Regardless. Sprinters want to win their heat or qualify exerting the least amount of energy possible, to save themselves for the final.
It is wide open . Anyone can win in final ! Kenny may be in the podium ! Noah can bounce back .
I honestly agree with you the South African guy is a real threat he might take it home ,watch the space.
Good stuff😊 Who won the ladies 100 😂
Lyles.is.gold.material.trust.me.😮😂
What about oblique Seville
When do you think women will break into the very low tens on par with men?
Bro, what are you talking about? When you know you run fast you go about 90% just take it to the finals so you can not burn yourself out...
Some take the fame don’t train as hard and this the outcome you don’t have to get ready you got to stay ready
Noah Lyles #1
Where is the damn converted list ?
You are actually comparing times from the heats 🤣🤡🤣
I am.72 old fat and white waiting for a hip replacement however in 1973 I won big in Australian track on grass...10.5 and I know the politics of heats and semis...someone could write a PhD on it 🎉
Jamaicans don't show until finals remember that 🇯🇲😎
Well only one showed up and it was 2nd.
Wind gauge calculations is nonsense because the wind speed doesn’t affect each athlete the same way, example, hurricane force winds blowing through a village not every tree falls
Sylvester 😂
1)Thompson
2) Kung fu Kenny
3) Lyles
Kenny powers I hope..
Wtf are you talking about. Kishane T shut it down after 70 m just like Bolt used to. He's winning it!
Bolt didnt win his preliminary rounds 2012 200m but he qualified.
Kishane Thompson slowed down I don’t think you saw that
Finals are another race.
Dude you don’t know anything about track and field go report on football
U are wrong. Elite athletes only run to qualify for Semifinals. Don't have to win. It is a balancing act because each 100m run takes some wear on your body. Especially if you are way better than the rest of the field, you just have to run good enough to win ur heat.
Bro, what if they purposely let up to conserve energy for all the heats they’re running..? That’s a real question, not an argument..
We can only wait and see right now what happens. Noah’s personality is challenging for me, but I just like watching good races and athletes compete. You’re saying 10.03 isn’t worthy of advancing to the semi finals? Chill.
This is gonna be a great next few races 🎉
