- The fastest #sprinting athletes in #highschooltrackandfield are often tempted to turn Pro in #trackandfield immediately. But the truth is that success at the highest levels of pro sprinting is incredibly hard to achieve. Athletes like Noah Lyles and Erriyon Knighton are some of the few exceptions to this rule.

Coach robs channel got me paying attention to track again
The crossover we all needed!!
I prefer to listen to you both as “team” than ANY other pairings or groups or organizations covering T/F! This sport “deserves” & “needs” coverage this one on MANY topics ( college & pro ).
I hate how track is covered in the US. Only a few smaller meets are shown. And they never even show all the participants. How disrespectful to not even introduce them. So how can track get a fan base if we can't know who's in an event .😮
I love you two collaborating together ❤.
Coach Rob, from what I’ve seen there is no sure fire formula for success. For some, going to college for four years works (Christian Coleman). For some, one and done works (Sidney). For others going pro out of high school works (Noah and Erriyon). One size doesn’t fit all. I think the biggest factors must be ability, maturity and focus. Some folks just need more development than others.
By the way, Coach Rob, though I don’t always agree with you, I’m a huge fan. Keep up the good work!
Never underestimate the muturing process, both physically and mentally, from going the college route.
I love to listen to your insight on track very interesting and informative
I appreciate that! More than you know
Erriyon ran 10.2 and 20.2 in 10th grade then he signed a contract. He ran 19 the next year after already being pro
Quite suspicious
@@MrSpirallingnot at all😭
I like when both of you come together...Folks these two guys know track.
How about the threat of over running/burn out in college?
Tell me there no money in track & field without telling me there’s no money in Track & field. If your not tracking the best in the world your not going professional. If your professional your not making money in the sport, even if your the best. This is why the sport is losing great talent to football, soccer and nearly any other to sport where .05 seconds will not make or break your career.
Its not just about the times they can achieve... physical, mental and emotional maturity is needed for a pro career in an individual sport where there is little support and no Jr circuit to prep them. They get thrown in the deep end right away. Its a huge (and unnecessary risk).
Maurice Greene also
Is this video old? I'm confused by the reference to Masai Russell not being sponsored by a shoe company. She's a Nike athlete!
Hobbs Kessler (5th at Olympics) and Mondo Duplants are doing well for going pro straight outta hs
i think duplantis went to lsu
@@robertrosenthal9390 yea he did that’s my bad
Masai is signed with Nike right? Great observations though!
My apologies for not making a caption during the video. This was filmed before she signed that deal later in the year.
the most fun is high school sports bro i swear
Drew Hunter (BUST)
Tebogo turned pro at 18 too come on...his pro season he won to medal in budapest...and is only the junior athlete to run sub 10 and sub 20 ....🤷♂️
Take the 💰 and 🏃♂️!
I mean tebego did the same thing
Did Maurice Green took it to College?
He did attend multiple colleges, but does not appear to have actually "run" in college as far as I can tell.
@@SCATrackandField ok thanks 🙏
It's surprising more American athletes don't transition to other countries like the Kenyans. (Or like their basketball guys playing on European teams.)
Track is a hard sport to earn a living in basically it’s still an amateur sport
People love saying Syd is what going to college looks like as an elite athlete but the reality is.... Shawnti Jackson is realistically what it looks like
*Everyone should be required to go college for one year before going pro in any sport.*
Why?
@@416yaadie
*Because at 17, 18 and 19 years old, they're only turning pro for the money and not because they're elite enough to unseat the worlds best in competition. Going to college is an introduction into growing up and the hard work and dedication it takes to be a professional, college also gives an athlete a good measuring stick of their talent on a level next to the pros if they're even remotely good enough to compete against the world's best.*
College IS a scam😅
@@PEN-N-PAL Yep. I just watched dozens of former collegians become champions and win medals (as they do every Olympics). You can count on one hand how many top tier prodigies that signed out of high school actually live up to their promise. Most fail.
