Thank you SO SO SO much all of you and especially to LoquaciousLK for helping me bring this whole idea to life. We’ve been working on this for over a year now and it’s been a wild ride to say the least.
Lullaby for a hero follows the emotional journey Zelda goes through thanks to Link. The song was redone to fit both the context of the story and the relationship that Link and Zelda have (which is more romantic in my opinion, but here it’s mostly up to interpretation! We respect all head-canons here! 💚) a little better.

I love how you altered the lyrics. Celestia acts as though she is finally seeing the error of her ways and mourning her foolishness, while Zelda seems to be further hurting herself for something out of her control at the time. It isn’t fair to ask any one being to seal pure darkness, much less one who has been hurt and is severely depressed. While Celestia is apologizing, Zelda almost seems to be… coping, with her trademark self sabotage. This is beautiful.

@Sean Lee oh yeah, this song is originally a fanmade My Little Pony animation from like a 6 or 8 years ago! This is just a lyrical adaptation for Zelda, but the instrumentation was all for a different franchise! Certainly a lot of talented people in both communities though!

@JLacay the My little Pony G4 series isn’t just for little girls, that show is home to many ethical dilemmas, valuable lessons in friendship and it deals with several dark topics. Not to mention the Disney quality music and voice acting :) it has a HUGE fan base, which of many are adult men and women. The fan animation (called lullaby for a princess) depicts the struggle between the two royal sisters, one of whom grew resentful of the other due to her not getting as much love and appriciation as the other and turned evil 😊
@@JLacay Uhm... MLP isn't just for little girls and isn't about glitter. Yes it's bright and cheerful, but it has a lot of life lessons, or morals, that it adds in the shows.
And it also does have lore.
Basically, Celestia and Luna are sisters, Celestia is the eldest and Luna is the youngest. Celestia rises the moon while Luna brings night. However, since Celestia is older she would take the throne obviously, but the pride kind of got to her head and she ignored Luna's feelings, it wasn't on purpose, but she still did.
Luna then got jealous since her sister was more popular and everyone seemed to glorify the sun more than the moon. Luna started to feel alone and that made her even more angry.
Then, one night she transformed into Nightmare moon, the dark side to her magic and she tried to make the night eternal.
Celestia then banished Luna to the moon for a thousand years by using the elements of harmony.
And then you find out the rest when you watch S1 Episode 1.
The cutscene where he dies genuinely makes me wanna cry. Imagine being Zelda knowing you did everything you could, and in the end it wasn’t enough. It would never be enough. It was too late for you, and now you’ve cost yourself everything. All you can do is wait and pray
Never in my life did I expect to hear a Zelda parody of an mlp song. This is great.

It’s about the Golden Goddesses and their cruel act of fate.
>Din always blessing Ganon’s reincarnations with the Triforce of Power, allowing some vestige of his power or a henchman to come back and release him is seen as a cruel and sick joke.
>Nayru’s being “unkind” is her Triforce of Wisdom guaranteeing Zelda and her reincarnations to have to undergo some sorta pain, be it her being captured, injured, locked away, and/or usually losing family or friends, all to just awaken the power needed to seal Ganon away again.
>And Farore being the wild card, who’s plans this time are to not let Link go out and save Hyrule immediately, but to have him grievously injured and locked away in a coma for a century, thereby leaving Zelda all alone for 100 years, and all their friends and former comrades to either die during the Calamity, or grow old and pass on without making lasting memories with them.
It’s the tragic story the Triforce Wielders are destined to repeat thanks to the Goddesses.

Yes but this time. It is shattered completely. Unknown to anyone but the audience, Demise’s consciousness has finally be unleashed. This action is irreversible. Link only killed the Ganondorf Dragmire incarnation not the Demise monster himself. The Bringer of Demise aka Demise is free and he will unleash hell the likes of which was never seen.

@@alakazamlover4908 It's easy to miss the price Celestia paid even for those that watched the show, since it was never directly covered. I could go into detail but suffice to say 1 pony was never meant to shift both the sun and the moon by themselves.

That's EXACTLY what I've been imagining through the whole video. Since when would Zelda be able to write a song this complex? Was it during her time sealing ganon? If so, did she spent 100 years completely conscious? How does that work bro

I don't know why it took me 3 replays to notice it, but with the two birds and the boar, one died to the boar, while the other restrains the boar, but dosent manage to kill it, obvious analogy to the game and idk how I missed it

Coming back to this amazing song and just noticed that when Zelda unleashed her power for the first time, Link smiled with relieved joy before succumbing to his wounds. Knowing that the Princes, might is say HIS princes, would be safe.
It's kinda sad all of her efforts were in vain. The litteral weight of the kingdom was on her. she realized too late her feelings for link. 100 years of imprisonment for her failure to keeping Gannon at bay. Once free and Gannon defeated she is finally able to love him. The failure of the past will always be with her and Link will help her shoulder this burden.

My favorite part was that at one point there were two birds representing them and then there was one when she awoke her power. A small detail that makes it that much better
considering that the original song was abt a bond between two sisters, I'd like to think of this as more platonic as well

(Sorry for the late reply I was just scrolling through comments and never saw this, ACK) that’s a fair headcanon! The lyrics were changed for a reason though, I wanted the context of the original song to be distanced from this one. I personally see them as more romantic, but I kept it ambiguous on purpose here so that everyone can enjoy whatever headcanon they wish ^^
Honestly I like when things can be depicted as either platonic or romantic. I've always seen them as romantic as well but if you can see a relationship as either that's usually a sign that they're pretty good for each other LOL

Friendship is magic
The final scene is chilling and got me to tear up. The single bloody feather is Link, whom Zelda is praying might awaken again from the Shrine of Resurrection. It being a single feather instead of another dove is to represent how severe Link’s wounds were, and how much he fought to ensure her safety, till there was hardly anything left of him. The remaining dove is of course Zelda, and the boar is obviously Calamity Ganon, whom by the end has a muzzle and has been bound, representing how Zelda managed to ensnare and trap him within Hyrule Castle for 100 years, until Link might return to her. Both the boar and the dove also have their eyes open, showing how Ganon and Zelda were locked in a battle of endurance against each other for 100 years; the first one to close their eyes, to lose their edge for even a second, would ensure either the boar to kill again, or the dove to be able to return to it’s fallen equal, and perhaps rebuild their home, as doves are depicted rebuilding their nests and roosting a lot of the time. So that Link and Zelda, might one day have a day of rest, to say “we did it”, and to mourn the loss of their fellow Champions…

Lullaby for a Princess is one of the best things to come out of the mlp fandom.
BotW is, in my opinion at least, the best LoZ game of all time.
Combining the two like this is nothing short of amazing.
Absolutely love the lyrics. My mind conjured up the idea of link hearing someone singing this to their kids while staying at one of the stables and having brief flashes of memories come back to him
I almost wonder how Links version wpuld be after he wakes and gains his memory back, prepping for the last foray in Hyrule castle to face Ganon and save Zelda.

I feel it should be more in the lines of a war march of some variety, referencing that he wasn’t enough once, and that failure would never again disgrace him.
I like to imagine as she sings “may your dreams be sweet” he’s just reliving his last days over and over until, eventually, they all fade away. And then he can finally hear Zelda’s voice over the screams of all the people in his dreams.

Super late but check inside hyrule castle in the main library behind a book shelf (moved by magnesis) the kings diary is left there. He did care, he just had to show tough love

To be fair to this Link, most of the others are also rather quiet most of the time. I think some of the books you can find in BOTW that were Zelda's diaries say that, after she tried actually talking to him, that he said he felt that he had to be stoic due to his own responsibilities, resulting in a quiet and rather emotionless shell... Before the diary went on about Link being both a late sleeper (almost universal Link trait) and loving food (insert clip of him eating a rock roast in AoC here).

- The change of lyrics from Celestia being proud of herself vs. Zelda being just so, self-deprecative of her abilities is SO fascinating. Because even though Zelda is being so hard on herself she STILL casts a shadow on Link (as with Celestia on Luna) because she's holding herself on too high of a pedestal. her expectations for herself are so high that she fails to realize that the one closest to her is also suffering
- I love Revali's dislike towards Link being compared to Zelda's own treatment towards him. Really shows that they weren't so different at first, which allows Zelda to realize that she's been neglecting him; I know this is a general BOTW thing but like it really gets put to perspective here
- THE BIRDS??? THE FUCKING BIRDS??? FLYING THROUGH THE FOREST TO ESCAPE FROM DANGER ONLY FOR ONE OF THEM TO GET KILLED BY THE BOAR ? ??? HOLY SYMBOLISM/PARALLELISM???? I AM CRYING???
- At this point (after Link "dies") I realized that this could be interpreted as Zelda getting ready to face off against Ganon for the next 100 years on her own, maybe even singing to him as he's being placed in the shrine of resurrection, and it really makes the whole song fit even better

Really humanizes Link I would say. We see him as a mortal who has feelings and can get scared, rather than the force of nature we play as in BOTW and TOTK
This legit gave me the chills. This video does a superb job of bringing to light the turmoil and hardships that Zelda had to endure.

As a Musical Theatre geek and a Legend of Zelda geek, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS 😍❤️🤩😄! This is absolutely amazing and told so beautifully to the point where I was so relaxed. I love how Zelda shares her perspective just as Link shares his perspective. This is so inspiring, it INSPIRED ME, keep it up, you're doing amazing.
I've played the Zelda breath of the Wild game and this song brought me to tears it was beautiful and really carried what Zelda was thinking

What a great animatic. It's honestly such a strange whiplash to hear LfaP referenced all the way in this glorious year of 2022. I'm very gratified that such a seminal work is still being remembered & remixed even now. And I echo some other comments:

I never realized how sad the botw game was. Both of them had to give up their life due to a neverending curse, never to live a free life; not even the sweet release of death could save them. And what's worse is they lost each other this time, leaving both of them to suffer in different psychological ways; either through memory loss or depression. Never to be set free..... ( I have never cried over a video game until now ) 😞
The link of ocarina of time dead and helping the link of twilight Princess as a ghost to teach him his past skills was the first time the legend of Zelda made me cry 😅 a true gut punch to think this man who saved hyrule after losing everything he cared about and had to be sealed for 7 years to age was sent back in time as a child while still keeping the memories of his adulthood only to be forgotten, abandoned by all, not remembered as the hero he was and all that to die alone and erased from history never able to share his experience with anyone until the link of twilight Princess… Zelda has some dark moments
@@clementestival6233 The reason why Navi just left was she was going to disappear. Once fairies have done their job they simply disappear but since she felt like they were friends she left before he could watch her simply not exist.
@@Breathofthesugar oh I know that don’t worry XD I’ve watched more lore videos than lectures for my college course, I wasn’t referring only to navi when I mentioned abandon, but link after being sent back in the middle timeline was pretty much all alone, no one remembered him and he left the kokiris, we don’t know the extent of his fate before death but it must have been a lonely one

Oh my gosh this made me cry! The feels! The change of lyrics! The animation! It's so perfectly beautiful! The ending about flying away is even more poignant now that we know what we do about TOTK! Amazing work this was truly a gem to watch

The original song I love a lot and sing to often, so looking for Zelda animatics and starting this video I was delighted to see there was a cover! Your illustrations are so well made and detailed and I can't imagine how much time this took.
For some reason I can't place, my favorite part is the zoom with the Silent Princess at 5:22. I can't explain why it made me cry, but it did!
