To me, the way this is set up, it makes Meteora seem like Star's aunt, who was the rightful heir. She's trying show Star what the world is like and trying to prepare her, in a way.

I feel like this can be an AU where Meteora had actually experienced joy at a young age, and monsters were accepted. But then, a human prince who despised monsters created a rumor that would end this peaceful era. Meteora was forced unto hiding with her uncle who was known as Toffee, unfortunately, her mother couldn't survive the attack. The said human prince eventually became the king of Mewni, fast forward time and now we have Star. Meteora starts a revolution and takes over the throne, in which Moon fully accepted and supported. Meteora's reign was peaceful, she restored the peace with monsters and assigned Toffee to become her general. Not having any heir to the throne, Meteora whole heartedly accepted Star, even tho she was strongly against her behavior. As soon as the wand gets passed to Star, Meteora sends her to earth with hopes of Star becoming better. Meteora then offers to pass the throne to Moon, wanting to start a school for unruly princesses and live a quiet life. Moon hesitantly accepts and becomes queen once again. While this is all happening, Star and Marco become official. A month after this Mewni gets attacked by the vain human prince and in the process gets Moon trapped in an unknown dimension. Meteora takes the throne and begins preparations for the final war against the prince. Star protests against this war and tries to convince Meteora to make an agreement of peace instead, Meteora then decides to teach Star a lesson, thus this song and animatic :PPP Edit: for those who want me to write this as a fan fic, I'll add to my list haha
... When I heard this song I couldn't believe this came from a MLP movie, or even related. It sounds like a litteral Villain Theme Song from DISNEY itself- I wonder if anyone else thought that!? Also, fantastic animatic! :D You've earned a sub!

The part where Meteora flings the curtain open and where butterfly sees the army marching outside the window. It packs a punch and is my favorite part!! This whole animation, although unrefined , leaves you to fill in the unfinished places and admire the beauty of it in a new way, it's refreshing. Thank you Jeykeyblue.
I can’t forget this animatic. The expression she makes at 2:45 conveys so much grief and sorrow when she stares into the throne that was stolen from her family. SO SO GOOD

Me too since i really find it unfair and illogical the way they forced star to break up with Tom and begins dating Marco, especially when you take the time to think about all the effort Tom did for her
Star used to be one of my favorite shows, but seasons 3 and specially 4 were just... So bad. It gets even worse when you find out that Daron had nothing planned from the begging, they just went creating stuff as they went.
I legitimately started crying at the flashback! AUGH! This is just too good! I love the storyboarding! The pacing is really spot on, and the angles really help show the story. Wonderful work!

Never realized how well this song fits Meteora, especially compared to Tempest. On reflection, it's a punch to the stomach to remember how funny we thought it was to watch her lose her mind.

Meteora's story is an actually problem because of how people quickly judges people of how they look and act. I was abused occasionally because of my addiction with gaming and how I was so fat, they manipulated me turning me into a skinny girl who barely could run without getting a sprained leg. I'm going through therapy right now and I hope that no one is going through this problem and be strong and love yourself no matter what. :D
The story I’m seeing here? Meteora’s mother, Eclipsa, had raised her a good memorable years before Shastican led an army of haters to get Meteora. Eclipsa had taken Meteora and sent her away for her safety, only to be imprisoned. Meteora grew hateful, and she began to plan the rebellion. Meteora had wanted to convey to Star the pain she felt from that and to get Star to realize Mewni isn’t going to change easily, and that Meteora actually didn’t want to get Star hurt, since Star tried helping the monsters. Meteora just wanted to Open Star’s Eyes to the truth as Meteora took the throne of Mewni, at last becoming her true self - the monster that the people feared unreasonably. A hurt creature done with their hurt.

Likely an unpopular opinion but honestly I think this would have been a better overall storyline for SVTFOE from the meteora arc and onward. (At least the toffee story line wouldn’t have been left as a loose end.)
If this was in the actual show I would be wondering what Star would be like after the song because it looked she was actually thinking that Meteora was right. That would be an epic plot twist.
I feel like she's definitely a lot more sympathetic, and that she was somewhat correct, but lashing out against other people. That said, she would probably try to talk her down, and probably have more luck. She'd probably give her the throne, with some concessions.

Reminds me of G1, where the typical serial starts out like that, before getting dark at some point in the first part, and then it usually had added darkness because the people making it didn’t think it through. Or maybe they did and just snuck it past the censors? The adult Seaponies stopped appearing at about the same time of The Magic Coins, when the drought from Baby Lickery Split’s wish for just sunshine dried out all the rivers, and it’s explicitly stated that they’re working to protect the Baby seaponies, with no mention of the adult ones… the Doylist reasoning is that they just stopped making adult ones, but the Watsonian… not so pretty. Also, Applejack killed a man. (Applejack’s Amazing Adventure)
Pheebs A It was heavily flawed in what it wanted to do. The movie only had to be semi competent and instead they overcomplicate it. The story is similar to a typical old movie outline like Don Bluths work, but done messy.The problem comes it tried merging various story archetypes such as the main team meeting 1 new character that ends being traitor before redeeming (which could also be the henchman villain), the 1 main character meeting multiple characters story, and the infighting characters. We know the main characters so they introduce multiple new characters that don't get enough screen time to properly develop. Instead it's a rush to a new bland song over any real character development of the new characters. The cat and the pirates should've just been one character, a captain with his crew that sells the ponies out. The villain builds up like she's taking the power for herself and trusts no one, and then becomes the dumbest character by trusting the storm king for plot reasons of not being the real villain and redemption. They couldn't stick to a single basic story format of the "journey not the destination" and ended up meshing too many tropes in this outline together.
I thought it was just a rehash of Season 4 (esp the finale) crammed together with different characters. I'm digging its integration into Season 8 though.
In my case, my general complaint is that I didn't really like how the movie feels like a bunch of different franchises/universes crammed together in Equestria, not to mention the rehash of the Tirek story among other nitpicks...
honestly this animatic and meteora's story fits the song more than tempest shadow's backstory and this video gave me chills while the original scene in the movie was a bit underwhelming, good job!

This song works so much better in this context because Meteora actually has a real reason to be feeling this way, being a half-monster many would assume is just a monster out to get them trying to blend in and spy or eat their babies or something equally evil to them. Tempest decided to not go to a hospital with the snapped off piece of horn to try and get it fixed, or at least keep it from exploding every time she tries to use magic, and scared off all her friends because she was actually a danger to them and got so upset that she ran away and became sasuke but a horse.
It's implied that the horn was irreparable. We haven't seen, in-show, a pony with a horn prosthesis/repair. I suspect that the injury, and subsequent rejection, caused her to suffer from Cutie Mark Failure Insanity syndrome,
Unicorns often have a high standing in society. A Unicorn without a horn is nothing, it's like they have lost all purpose in life. She wasnt able to control her magic anymore, and even small outbursts of anger could trigger her horn into doing god knows what kind of damage. She could have endangered others. So she became an outcast, nobody wanted to have anything to do with her. This is why she so desperately wanted it to be fixed, so she could be normal again.
You realise the show just expects you to be intelligent enough to realise that going to the hospital wouldn't have fixed it, right? I love this backstory of hers much better than the original one, no offense to the canon Meteora in the svtfoe, but this just looks and sounds more dramatic and devastating, plus i love the way Toffee was included into this, i like to think that he and Meteora were planning to take over the kingdom. It might go something like this *ahem*: Meteora a royal princess scorned and shunned by her own people for being the daughter of a monster is being chased away from her homeland, the poor princess watched her mother being taken away from her for only marrying someone who was different and having a child with him, and thus her hatred for the people who caused a lot of anguish and agony for her and her family was born. Forced to grow up and survive all by herself she hid herself and made up a new name "Heinous", a name suitable for the actions of the people who teared her life apart. Her lust for vengeance against the injustice she suffered kept her alive all these years, and a fateful encounter with Toffee set up the wheels of motion for Meteoras plan to take back what was rightfully hers again, her throne, her kingdom, and her revenge...

I like how Star’s face is so round and childish while M ( I forgot her name), her face is more mature. It shows the maturity level in animation. Star being naïve and M having seen so many things, has matured.

Alright. I saw the song title and thought, "Yes. Let's see." After watching, I thought, "YES! This is Awesome!!" I love it from beginning to end! The ending was best, Meteora turning into her monster form. Sister took the throne. I could seriously see that happening if the show went in that direction. And I want people to be perfectly honest... Who got chills when Meteora opened the window. And who started crying when Meteora dropped her doll?! I was like, "OH! The doll!" Heartbreaking part, Eclipsa and Meteora separation. Meteora awakening her inner monster. I think I would have liked to see the green flames move and see that fat king burn to a crisp. Other than that... This is a work of art. I try to imagine it in color, and not saying it wouldn't work, but this is so much better. Guess the High Commission screwed up real badly. They truly brought the monster out in Meteora. Had they left it be, Meteora wouldn't have been this ferocious with pent up anger and everything having been lied to and locked out of Mewni's history of the butterflies. So this anamatic just fits well with the story tbh. Wonderful job

Really love this, your art style is so detailed I especially love how you drew their eyes. Really wish this was canon cuz it gives more understanding of Meteora's personality n her suffering as well as seeing Toffee as a loyal soldier/general to her instead of the canon detailed chessmaster villain though his personality wouldn't change much. She never really knew her parents considering she was only a few months old when her family was attacked if she had been a young child who had fond n happy memories of her parents only to witness what happened to them would add more depth to her character.

Im surprized people consider Meteora and Eclipsa to be the villains of svtfoe. All things considered, King Shastacan is mostly to blame since he threw away Meteora since she wasn't "perfect" enough. Can you blame Eclipsa for cheating on a guy like that?
The king genuinely love Eclipsa but it was love one sided. That's why he let Meteora alive and instead exchange her with Solaria her being as half monster, her face reminded too much of his wife and he's still a human. But still, doesn't mean I like him.

And now I will answer the most frequent questions: The first and probably the most important one: "Will it be a full animation?" -No, guys. Sorry, but no, this is the final version. For me this animatic was a test of abilities and, so to speak, a "warm-up" before my other projects ... Of course, it's possible that sometime in the future I will rewatch this video and think: "OMG, I want to finish it!" But it will not in the near future. Maybe my next videos will be in color, it would be an interesting practice .. As for the full animation - I don't know. I've never animated before (.. although I've never done an animatic before), and full animation will undoubtedly take a very long time and take away a lot of my strength. Besides, I'm not sure that something good will come out of this ... But from interest someday I'll try. - And this in case someone wants to do a redraw or an animation of any scene, subtitles, or something like that (I think, I saw a couple of questions like that, so just in case, I'll write). This actually is a lot more better and easier to understand than the cannon. How meteora used star’s kindness against her and pretended to only want her life back by telling her what happened while the kingdom was being taken over by rasticor and her robots

The story in this is honestly far better than the show. Once the show's Hieness turned to Metora and came for the throne it was like a kid wanting her doll back. But here's the thing by that point Hieness was grown she was tactical, poised, and most importantly by her and the world's definition a perfectly fit ruler. Not the petty baby they turned her into to try and show the pain of her growing up with a robot( which they could have done better with as show by the scene were she looked at her files). Also how was she able to remember anything before looking at the files SHE WAS A BABY?
TheShinyBlueWhale No no before that when they were in that room in the basement of the monster temple at the party. She just saw her baby toys and furniture and she instantly started remembering her true past despite being a baby at the times. I could understand her knowing about the files but how could she remember that room in that moment before seeing the files?

I love at 0:49, because, when she says "Give up your sweet fantasy land", you can see an once of sadness on her face, as if she's talking to herself, still trying to convince herself. It's brilliant!
I've watched this animatic for over a year now, and I keep coming back. And it's very recently that I understood why I love it so much. In a few words : the pain on the face of adult Meteora. She's standing strong through the whole song, yet that strength seems to slightly crack on a few moment where it's not about schooling Star but remembering the suffering she went through to get where she is now. I love how the expression match the voice crack in the throne room as we see that her warning is a genuine attempt to spare Star the pain she's been through herself and how, even after all those years, it still hasn't healed. These few minutes alone create a complex and fascinating character. Both severe, yet caring, unbreakable, yet hurt, uncompromising, yet understanding.
this could probably fit in a future season of the show with a few tweaks and plot developments it would give the show even more depth (and be really cool too if they want to go dark )

The privilege can be explained as its a feudal fantasy world w magic and multiple different races and you cant really expect a light hearted show to explain the morality and consequences of brainwashing and noble privilige (of which appears t be rather idelyic rather than realistic) i recommended this animatics plot here for the show because i think it would be fun to explore

I feel like this can be an AU where Meteora had actually experienced joy at a young age, and monsters were accepted. But then, a human prince who despised monsters created a rumor that would end this peaceful era. Meteora was forced unto hiding with her uncle who was known as Toffee, unfortunately, her mother couldn't survive the attack. The said human prince eventually became the king of Mewni, fast forward time and now we have Star. Meteora starts a revolution and takes over the throne, in which Moon fully accepted and supported. Meteora's reign was peaceful, she restored the peace with monsters and assigned Toffee to become her general. Not having any heir to the throne, Meteora whole heartedly accepted Star, even tho she was strongly against her behavior. As soon as the wand gets passed to Star, Meteora sends her to earth with hopes of Star becoming better. Meteora then offers to pass the throne to Moon, wanting to start a school for unruly princesses and live a quiet life. Moon hesitantly accepts and becomes queen once again. While this is all happening, Star and Marco become official. A month after this Mewni gets attacked by the vain human prince and in the process gets Moon trapped in an unknown dimension. Meteora takes the throne and begins preparations for the final war against the prince. Star protests against this war and tries to convince Meteora to make an agreement of peace instead, Meteora then decides to teach Star a lesson, thus this song and animatic :PPP

The part where Meteora flings the curtain open and where butterfly sees the army marching outside the window. It packs a punch and is my favorite part!! Me too since i really find it unfair and illogical the way they forced star to break up with Tom and begins dating Marco, especially when you take the time to think about all the effort Tom did for her
Star used to be one of my favorite shows, but seasons 3 and specially 4 were just... So bad. It gets even worse when you find out that Daron had nothing planned from the begging, they just went creating stuff as they went.

Meteora's story is an actually problem because of how people quickly judges people of how they look and act. I was abused occasionally because of my addiction with gaming and how I was so fat, they manipulated me turning me into a skinny girl who barely could run without getting a sprained leg. I'm going through therapy right now and I hope that no one is going through this problem and be strong and love yourself no matter what. :D

The story I’m seeing here? Meteora’s mother, Eclipsa, had raised her a good memorable years before Shastican led an army of haters to get Meteora. Eclipsa had taken Meteora and sent her away for her safety, only to be imprisoned. Meteora grew hateful, and she began to plan the rebellion. Meteora had wanted to convey to Star the pain she felt from that and to get Star to realize Mewni isn’t going to change easily, and that Meteora actually didn’t want to get Star hurt, since Star tried helping the monsters. Meteora just wanted to Open Star’s Eyes to the truth as Meteora took the throne of Mewni, at last becoming her true self - the monster that the people feared unreasonably. A hurt creature done with their hurt.

Likely an unpopular opinion but honestly I think this would have been a better overall storyline for SVTFOE from the meteora arc and onward. (At least the toffee story line wouldn’t have been left as a loose end.)

Reminds me of G1, where the typical serial starts out like that, before getting dark at some point in the first part, and then it usually had added darkness because the people making it didn’t think it through. Or maybe they did and just snuck it past the censors? The adult Seaponies stopped appearing at about the same time of The Magic Coins, when the drought from Baby Lickery Split’s wish for just sunshine dried out all the rivers, and it’s explicitly stated that they’re working to protect the Baby seaponies, with no mention of the adult ones… the Doylist reasoning is that they just stopped making adult ones, but the Watsonian… not so pretty. Pheebs A It was heavily flawed in what it wanted to do. The movie only had to be semi competent and instead they overcomplicate it. The story is similar to a typical old movie outline like Don Bluths work, but done messy.The problem comes it tried merging various story archetypes such as the main team meeting 1 new character that ends being traitor before redeeming (which could also be the henchman villain), the 1 main character meeting multiple characters story, and the infighting characters. We know the main characters so they introduce multiple new characters that don't get enough screen time to properly develop. Instead it's a rush to a new bland song over any real character development of the new characters. The cat and the pirates should've just been one character, a captain with his crew that sells the ponies out. The villain builds up like she's taking the power for herself and trusts no one, and then becomes the dumbest character by trusting the storm king for plot reasons of not being the real villain and redemption. They couldn't stick to a single basic story format of the "journey not the destination" and ended up meshing too many tropes in this outline together.
I thought it was just a rehash of Season 4 (esp the finale) crammed together with different characters. I'm digging its integration into Season 8 though.
In my case, my general complaint is that I didn't really like how the movie feels like a bunch of different franchises/universes crammed together in Equestria, not to mention the rehash of the Tirek story among other nitpicks...
honestly this animatic and meteora's story fits the song more than tempest shadow's backstory and this video gave me chills while the original scene in the movie was a bit underwhelming, good job!

This song works so much better in this context because Meteora actually has a real reason to be feeling this way, being a half-monster many would assume is just a monster out to get them trying to blend in and spy or eat their babies or something equally evil to them.
Tempest decided to not go to a hospital with the snapped off piece of horn to try and get it fixed, or at least keep it from exploding every time she tries to use magic, and scared off all her friends because she was actually a danger to them and got so upset that she ran away and became sasuke but a horse.

Unicorns often have a high standing in society. A Unicorn without a horn is nothing, it's like they have lost all purpose in life. She wasnt able to control her magic anymore, and even small outbursts of anger could trigger her horn into doing god knows what kind of damage. She could have endangered others. So she became an outcast, nobody wanted to have anything to do with her. This is why she so desperately wanted it to be fixed, so she could be normal again.

I love this backstory of hers much better than the original one, no offense to the canon Meteora in the svtfoe, but this just looks and sounds more dramatic and devastating, plus i love the way Toffee was included into this, i like to think that he and Meteora were planning to take over the kingdom. It might go something like this *ahem*: Meteora a royal princess scorned and shunned by her own people for being the daughter of a monster is being chased away from her homeland, the poor princess watched her mother being taken away from her for only marrying someone who was different and having a child with him, and thus her hatred for the people who caused a lot of anguish and agony for her and her family was born. Forced to grow up and survive all by herself she hid herself and made up a new name "Heinous", a name suitable for the actions of the people who teared her life apart. Her lust for vengeance against the injustice she suffered kept her alive all these years, and a fateful encounter with Toffee set up the wheels of motion for Meteoras plan to take back what was rightfully hers again, her throne, her kingdom, and her revenge...

It's like watching a whole season that captures you in just 3:23 done better than most too.
Guess the High Commission screwed up real badly. They truly brought the monster out in Meteora. Had they left it be, Meteora wouldn't have been this ferocious with pent up anger and everything having been lied to and locked out of Mewni's history of the butterflies. Really wish this was canon cuz it gives more understanding of Meteora's personality n her suffering as well as seeing Toffee as a loyal soldier/general to her instead of the canon detailed chessmaster villain though his personality wouldn't change much.
She never really knew her parents considering she was only a few months old when her family was attacked if she had been a young child who had fond n happy memories of her parents only to witness what happened to them would add more depth to her character.

-No, guys. Sorry, but no, this is the final version. For me this animatic was a test of abilities and, so to speak, a "warm-up" before my other projects ... Of course, it's possible that sometime in the future I will rewatch this video and think: "OMG, I want to finish it!" But it will not in the near future.
Maybe my next videos will be in color, it would be an interesting practice .. As for the full animation - I don't know. I've never animated before (.. although I've never done an animatic before), and full animation will undoubtedly take a very long time and take away a lot of my strength. Besides, I'm not sure that something good will come out of this ... But from interest someday I'll try.

The story in this is honestly far better than the show. Once the show's Hieness turned to Metora and came for the throne it was like a kid wanting her doll back. But here's the thing by that point Hieness was grown she was tactical, poised, and most importantly by her and the world's definition a perfectly fit ruler. Not the petty baby they turned her into to try and show the pain of her growing up with a robot( which they could have done better with as show by the scene were she looked at her files).
Also how was she able to remember anything before looking at the files SHE WAS A BABY?
Mmagic Probably one of her assistant the bald guy with the goggles probably told her or made a tech to hack the robot to see the memory files

She just saw her baby toys and furniture and she instantly started remembering her true past despite being a baby at the times. I could understand her knowing about the files but how could she remember that room in that moment before seeing the files?

I've watched this animatic for over a year now, and I keep coming back. And it's very recently that I understood why I love it so much. In a few words : the pain on the face of adult Meteora. She's standing strong through the whole song, yet that strength seems to slightly crack on a few moment where it's not about schooling Star but remembering the suffering she went through to get where she is now. I love how the expression match the voice crack in the throne room as we see that her warning is a genuine attempt to spare Star the pain she's been through herself and how, even after all those years, it still hasn't healed. These few minutes alone create a complex and fascinating character. Both severe, yet caring, unbreakable, yet hurt, uncompromising, yet understanding.

The privilege can be explained as its a feudal fantasy world w magic and multiple different races and you cant really expect a light hearted show to explain the morality and consequences of brainwashing and noble privilige (of which appears t be rather idelyic rather than realistic) i recommended this animatics plot here for the show because i think it would be fun to explore

She do anything to keep te safe of Meteora, why? Because Meteora is all for Eclipsa. She's the best mother that I never had.
Eclipsa wanted to undo all the damages done by her predecessor towards Monsters and took Globgor for her Lover, a Monster she was dear friends with ever since childhood, yet was forced into an arranged marriage with King Rastacan who like Eclipsas' mother Solaria; was a Monster-Hating Nazi of a Mewman. Rastacan discovered the existence of Meteora eventually and sought to end the "blight" of a Half-Mewman, Half-Monster Heir to the Throne of Mewni, believing that the powers of Magic should _never_ fall into the hands of the Monsters, regardless of alignment or allegiance. Meteora seeks to finish what her mother started by force if she has to, to correct what was done to her family by Rastacan and the Magical High Committee at the whims of her Grandmother "the Mewman Hitler", After 300 years, the _true_ Heir to the Throne of Mewni has returned to oust the false royals.
