Thank you for watching. In case you are interested, you can watch the other videos I filmed in the Faroe Islands here: th-cam.com/play/PL0wwMzq5-Q2gy_gEKRY12gW6bxp-iFD8J.html
It is the capital city and a major hub for the entire Islands. Almost all my next videos of the Faroe Islands were filmed during nice weather. The weather did not cooperate with me at the beginning.
@@WandererBell mostly nice weather is great. I can't imagine travel during heavy winds and rain showers all the time. You must have great karma 😉. Thanks for the information about the town. Enjoy your trip.
That was an enjoyable stroll around Thorshavn. I loved seeing the older residential houses and wondered which one might have been my grandmother's family home before she left for the UK. Maybe one day I'll get there.
I had a friend that went to the faroe islands with his work. When he came back he said thst the skin of the womem is so beautiful becsuse thr sun doesnt shine so much
Thats interesting! Yes, the sun does not shine that much there but that might be a problem for people who have a Vitamin D deficiency. The sun is good to produce Vitamin D naturally. By the way, there are many Philipines women in the Faroe Islands. There is a documentary movie that talks about this subject.
I can fill in a few random facts. 🙂 10:50 This is the town hall. You see it again on the right at 20:22. 11:15 Niels Finsen is the sole Faroese Nobel laureate (medicine, 1904). 17:15 The cannons down at the shoreline are from the British presence 1940-45. 18:42 "Hafnia" is the Latin name for Tórshavn. 19:40 The language on the sign is Danish and this is the office/residence of the Danish High Commissioner, hence the crown of the Danish government.

1 tima = 1 hour. They live beautiful in the faroe island. I also think that fatoe Islands looks more beautiful. With the grass on top of the granit rocks in the Middle of the northern part of the gulf stream
They are beautiful but I am not sure why it is not a popular place to visit. Denmark should do more to advertise the Faroe Islands and compete with Iceland.
I´am from Tórshavn where I still live. The name means Thors Harbour. You will find that there are many names that have there origin all the way back to the Viking age, when the Faroes where settle by vikings. It is belived that the vikings came to the Islands around the 7th or 8th centuri. Before the vikings came the Islands where settled by Irish munks.
Absolutely fascinating! Thanks for sharing this incredible insight into the history of Tórshavn and the Faroe Islands. The Viking influence and the origins of the names dating back to that era are truly remarkable. Appreciate you shedding light on this rich heritage!
I am really lucky to be Turkish and to live in a wonderful country like Turkey. A tiny island in the middle of the ocean... Not a single tree grows, the weather is overcast and rainy almost every day. This incredibly depressing and boring town is also the “capital” of the island. The streets are always empty, there is no proper activity. Even while watching the videos, I worry about the people there. Of course, you can go to the Faroe Islands for a short holiday and see the natural beauties.
Thank you so much for showing beautiful country, you just make me laugh at the point you ask for hands sanitizer and she said no we don't have it,yes you are right English is big problem in that county

Most people visit the Faroe Islands to enjoy the nature and the tranquility, not to live there.
