I started Nanas Against Trump and Fascism! Making a nana doll every week ever since he was elected. Naming each one after a person I find inspiring. The last one I just posted is Nana Scarlett, named after Scarlett Pavlovich, an accuser of Neil Gaiman. Making a beautiful and wild doll every week helps me not sink into sadness too much.
Vincent I always appreciate so much how you recognize your platform and you use it to try to make your community a better place. I have so much respect for you for standing your ground on your political beliefs because you know your voice has important reach. Keep doing what you do! 👏🏼
Love the alt-crafting content. Everything is political and if we want to exist well as human beings we have to become more empathetic, care for one another, and also lean into talents and hobbies that we can share. We can share finished objects, skill, and also share time and conversation with our community while making. 💜
YES YES ALL OF THIS!! Thank you so much for talking about this and i will continue to be creative during these trying times despite it all. What we can do is fully support each other at these times
Poignant message I find FANTASTIC and so timely. I, personally, ABSOLUTELY agree with EVERY POINT you made. Thank you for creating a safe space for all of us and for using this platform for such a purpose as this; providing support and well, kinda cheering others up, I guess? I’m not very eloquent, but it matters. Your message matters. YOU matters. ALL humans matter. What a mess. ❤️🩹. Thank you ✌🏻🫶🏻🧶
Building community and uplifting each other is what we have to do. You never know what someone near you is going through. Sharing your skill, your ability to create something with others may help their mental health big time. I picked up crochet during the pandemic and had some skills prior, yet it was a hard (joyful, yet hard) journey. I would love to have someone there supporting me. I would totally add that into the list ☺️
I’m thinking of getting back into cross-stitching and embroidery. I originally got into it when my Dad was in the hospital, and the tediousness coupled with the constructiveness was really helpful for me.
I just started crochet a few weeks ago and its been amazing at helping me stay calm and unwind when things feel chaotic. I've been so stressed and this is the first things that has actually helped me feel better. Bonus, its helping me quit vaping.
This is excellent! Using craft to support each other and our own mental health in the face of our present dystopian hellscape is exactly what we need. I make bespoke crochet clothing for my family, now I’m going to view it through the lens of protest. Thank you for your awesome video!
The first time around when Ravelry was being filled with maga stuff I was so greatful the owners kept it a space to be political and safe without allowing abuse and harassment on their social media. Especially now ravelry is still a safe space for many of us I’m so glad I knit and crochet and have met so many of us. Im going through a lot of grief and making with my hands is holding my heart and giving me something to look forward to. Thanks for the reminder and I think I wanna spend more time in that space vs meta owned apps.
You are absolutely amazing Vincent ❤ this really made me smile. I recently learned to start knitting, know how to crochet. I've been crocheting my own type of plushies and such for I can just have fun and not stress about getting a pattern right. When I started doing that, I felt more confident and was able to try patterns more.
Thank you for this great and inspiring video. I love crocheting and crafting. It's a wonderful way to express myself and to support others. Right now I crochet a bubby bag for an event in February where a friend of mine does a presentation against breast cancer and for the breast cancer prevention by giving every visitor a self crocheted bubby. She asked for help in our local crafting group and we all were so excited to help her out and crochet breasts in all colors and sizes. I'm so looking forward for the presentation. Scrolling through all the comments underneath your video is also very inspiring. I love your work and how it creates this community. Love you all.
In a time where I felt very hopeless because of the obvious political climate we're in here in the US, I am so glad I came across your video along with other crochet and fiber artists who continue to use their platforms to speak out against fascism (basically) so thank you for that.
All of these points are fantastic. Thank you for making such a thoughtful video and reinforcing the importance of community and craft and fighting back against this capitalistic world. I’m so glad this video came up on my feed, I am now subscribing :)
I don't know you, this is the first video I have ever seen of yours but I want you to know. You are amazing and I hope you keep up this good work. My roommate crochets and I might pick it up myself.
Thank you so much for this video, with US Oligarchs meddling in UK politics I'm expecting things here to go down a similar path to what the US is experiencing now 😢 I totally agree with everything you said, I've bookmarked it so I can revisit it during the darkest days and remind myself why crochet (hobbies) is so important for bringing joy to me and my community ❤
I am Panstitual and I really want to make my art more of a statement. Use it for good and helping others. I just haven't decided how to do that. In the meantime it is helping to keep me grounded and centered. Crochet, Knitting, Embroidery, sewing, etc. Breathe and stitch and breathe and stitch!
I've followed you for years and I appreciate this so so much. It's scary out there especially as a queer woman. Thank you for using your platform for this
Ive recently connected with some folks over crochet. I keep it as a hobby and refuse to turn it into an income. not that it is bad for anyone to do that. Heck, I have bought some of your patterns and kits and i LOVED them. But for me it is a form of Rest as Resistance. to turn away from the capitalist mindset, rejecting the view of attaching a dollar amount to value anything. It is freeing. it is fun. it is colorful and I like it. thank you. Imma share this video with all my friends
Being able to be productive when everyone around you is engaged in their phones or meeting after meeting after meeting. Hell, I told off city hall "At least I got something done at this meeting!"
Hi 👋 I just saw your channel and I like what you have to say about crocheting because I have been crocheting for about 7 yrs now and it’s very relaxing and rewarding I have made all kinds of things blankets hats scarves animals plants 🪴 you name it I have done it and continue to do it cause I love it crochet 🧶 😊
Why say making art is political in a time we’re everyone is so divided why not just say “making art helps you express yourself” theses are the reasons why we are so divided… we use to not speak on politics at work or to family and friends 💔 I hate everything about the fact that we dislike each other because our political standpoints.

Love this!!! Crochet has helped me so much get through the days. This year I’m going to sew and quilt more too!

That a great point about community. Thanks for the input 😊
I am crocheting my worries away and I am focusing on the joy that I can bring to others by my art. They can’t take that away from me!
new follower here. thank you for this message! it is so important that we continue to find joy and invest in our communities. ♡

You are amazing Vincent! So good to be able to say I know you. You are brave, strong and have a wonderful message. I need to learn to crochet!😃❤️

Crochet is the only thing that is keeping me sane and so is the rest of my protest art. Love your commentary.

I really respect that. I wonder what crochet would be like as a leisure hobby instead of an income. Keep on the great crafting ❤
crochet is punk hell yeahhhhhhhhh!
Fabulous message
Great message! 🤘
