Great message! In Germany the political situation wasn‘t that great and many people are afraid the far right party AfD gets more influence. Crocheting helps to tune out for a while and to calm yourself. Also I find too, that creating clothes for yourself feels you are not as dependent on big corporations. Maybe I will pick up sewing too so I can make clothes.

This video is really comforting. I've considered using my work for activism before, but haven't ever known how to start. It's so difficult not just to be paralyzed, or completely numb right now. Thank you for creating this safe digital space and for sharing what we can do to keep from feeling hopeless. We appreciate you.

Hello, I’ve never watched your videos before but saw this on my suggested page and I absolutely agree. I make many LGBTQ pride items or items with those colors or messages and just crocheting while watching videos has definitely helped me with my fears of what is happening in our world. I definitely recommend it for anyone who is interested I specifically Tunisian crochet and I absolutely love it.

Thank you for promoting the craft of crochet and how we can use crochet to help others in the community. There's a good book I read recently, The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer, which is about sharing with others and community. As I listened to your video, it brought that book to mind. Have a wonderful day! 😊

I just found your channel from this video and let me just say, the timing could not be more perfect. I'm a small, California-based artist & crocheter trying to start a mutual aid effort for my community, but I've felt during the process that my creative skills aren't very useful for helping people in need. This video opened my eyes to so many ways that I can help just by using the skills I already have. I'm not joking, I clicked subscribe within the first 4 seconds of the video because you said the words "art is political and you are not powerless". Things are indeed looking dire for the U.S. and I try to keep my spirits up even as executive orders are signed with the intention of stripping my rights entirely as a trans person. But sometimes I need a reminder that I can make a difference even in times like this. Thank you for sharing all these methods of community aid through crochet and for making my day more hopeful. Looking forward to more of your videos! Stay safe 💞

Been Crocheting for over 30 years. Didn't learn to read a pattern till about 20 years ago. Then I got into kits in the past few years. Now the spouse and my mom have been keeping me stocked up on kits the last few years for times, like in the winter, That I am unable to get out of the house to help keep me busy when I have nothing else to do. Managed to make extra projects thanks to them for things like a White Elephant exchange. This past Christmas I actually made a Whit Elephant with a touch of sparkle for the White Elephant that turned out pretty good. The manager that got that just loved it. Over the past few months, I have been lucky enough to encourage a few newbies to the craft that are discovering the joy's of Crochet. I am really loving it more so now than ever. This craft has been so rewarding as of late. All Thanks to a baby sitter I had when I was a kid that got me started into the craft. Thank you for the video and sharing your thoughts.

Thank you so much. I am a woman and I crochet, knit, paint, make cards, journals, etc. I only go on my phone when I absolutely need to. I can’t stand sitting in a Doctors office and every single person just sits there like a bunch of robots scrolling and scrolling. They sit with their girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, wife, partner at a restaurant and don’t even talk, just scroll, is there a point? Crafting is absolutely a great thing for your mind. I have also been a quilter and made 60 quilts a year that were donated to the homeless, you can crochet anything, mittens, scarfs, hats, etc. to give to the homeless or people that really need them. I do not make money off of any of my crafts and never have. It’s going to get to the point where people won’t be able to find anyone to buy your stuff because they can’t afford it anymore. The rich don’t buy crafts, that’s low life stuff and I have been told to my face about that. I am so pleased to see that men are getting into any kind of craft. Even people in jail are now crocheting making blankets to help the homeless! I don’t like it called punk but maybe I’m too old. Crochet is fun and is joyful and it gives you something more than that stupid phone in your hand. Get away from the nonsense for at least 2 hours a day! There is another woman who started a site about putting down your phone and hers is knitting. I am very proud to see people like you who are into the community. I have worked with the Veterans and homeless, drug addicts, for years now and proud of it. Thank you again, for brightening up my morning. I am going to share this with many people and I have a lot of yarn from the over 40 years of crocheting and knitting, so I will give them all an easy pattern to start with and the yarn, the only thing they will have to buy is the hook. Even better if you have a bunch of left over skeins put them all together with the magic loop and make your own colors so the person doesn’t have to tie it in a knot and will feel even better because it looks perfect. God Bless You.

Please - redo the vid - NOT the instruction part (reference that to this vid) do it just showing some finished pieces with "yarn" that has many colors (the kind you do bookmarks with beady eyes that are made like worms,) and sparkly yarn and of course show a completed red one and a completed 'puffy' one. Valentine's day is coming up. Also - a quick little lesson on how to 'read a crochet pattern chart' - not sure if there is one for this heart of if it is a thing for mere mortals to write up in a standardized format. Perhaps you have one for the design you are doing in this vid.

I make cuddly cryptids, but lately my wife and friends have asked me to expand my creations. I’m in the process of making the whinny Trump cry baby in diapers and including the receding hairline. It’s very therapeutic to both zone out crocheting and to escape into the creative design side of making your own patterns and dolls!!! I’m in, and I’m in total agreement with the ridiculousness of this capitalist society that keeps being taken by the worlds worst conman and biggest joke of a strongman. I can’t wait to see what kind of a community you are able to build.

I crochet because I love it since I was a kid. Then ten years ago I was diagnosed with a chronic terminal condition and I then embraced crochet as a floatie to keep me sane thru endless lab tests and medical appointments thru the years.. Crocheting has kept me on track and focused during the darkest times and giving me joy with every finished piece. I was looking for inspiration for some new skeins and this video showed up in my feed. . I am glad you are a crocheter and that you decided to inspired others with your content. I am Puertorican living in the island and the headlines here and those coming from mainland are very scary. These are difficult times and keeping our minds focused and positive is the best thing we can do for our mental health. Blessings, my fellow craft friend!!

I am crocheting for charity. Having being left homeless due to damage to my house from Hurricane Helene, I am overwhelmed with grief and uncertainty. Crocheting helps me keep busy and gives me an object to focus on. I do not share your feelings about Trump. He is doing much to help us here in WNC, and in California, too. It is too soon, to make judgment about Trump and his policies. Friends have donated and gifted yarn to me. So, I choose to make things for charity. Yarn isn’t cheep, but it’s worth it to make something to give another warmth. Creating is very important for emotional, mental, and spiritual health. Blessings to you 🕊💕🕯😇🙏🏻💚
