I think this is the first time in 10 years I've heard a big man of the past trying to comment on how to stop someone from dominating in the low post. Cuz for 10 or so years no one has dominated the low post to enough to make the og's go, "they ain't defending him right".

What Kenyon is really referring to is just being more physical and what he would do to stop him from just doing what he wants on offense, joker is a beast but alot of times it’s lazy defense being played on him as athletic as everyone is in the nba the bigs hardly jump at his shot they just close out and play hands up defense, I really think he’s just underestimated because how compose and slow he moves but the whole time he’s getting to his spot and comfort zone.

Big men try to body him, but problem is, try jumping when you have a large body pushing you. He is able to get bigs off balance, and he is phenomenal at using your momentum and strength against you. If you lean hard one way on his hip, he has a ridiculous back spin into a jump hook.
Sag off, he has a feathery mid range. Double him? One of the best passers ever.
Guys that can actually guard him are a dime a dozen.
One player I think would have decent success would've been a prime Marc Gasol. He matches up size wise, smart and just as quick.

It's tough, though, bc Jokic is properly strong, and he gets a TON of leeway from the refs to put his shoulder down and smash his way to his spots. Like, he throws his weight into guys really overtly, but there's no whistles for a dude with that kind of fan impact. And there's only a few guys in the league who are big and rough enough to put up that fight, and none of them are getting the ref's preference over Jokic. It's a pickle, and no one's really solved it.

Kenyon and Gilbert were both average when they were playing but seems like social media has given them the tool to appear bigger than they used to lol. Gilbert wasnt a great defender and Kenyon didnt actually stop anybody. All this two hang on to is they played when the NBA was still rough and all that.

Bro do u watch hoop?? Gilbert was torching the entire league for years before injury....Kenyon was always a top defender in his prime years...gil never was about defending but average?? U whoopin😂. And gil never hangs his hat on old school physicality...he usually talks shyt about it.

@@nicholaskidd7425 yeah that's average, 3 years of scoring which is kinda what you'd expected from ball dominant guys in that era. one play off series win, cone defense and it's downhill from there, sure he was injured but the NBA greatness isn't made from excuses. that just screams a typical average scorer.
KMartin was a good defender with some fine finishing under the basket and that's it. He is someone you'd like to have on your team but you can get over it as PFs in that era were very good and there's lots of them. he is very replaceable and again that just screams average.

@@nicholaskidd7425 and that impressed you to think he is above the average line? lol basketball for a while now, at least for real whoop fans isn't really just about scoring, or at least for more matured NBA fans.
he would score 30 ppg but give up 25+ even to the worst match up he had. he is one of those players who would be too small to guard an SG and too slow to guard a PG and he didn't even pretend to at least guard his match up lol. he didn't make his teammates better either.
in his 3 year span of 'torching the league' they struggled twice being above .500 on a weak eastern conference, 0 deep playoff runs, 2 first round exits - goes to show you just how short 'just scoring' can only take you and hints towards the empty stats people talk about this days. and on those 3 years he lost to a young lebron twice(a player gilbert has a lot of things to say about lmao) and it's kinda weird gilbert gives a lot of criticism to players who do more than just score - giannis, lebron, jokic
after his injury his meddling with team building and off court antics didnt help his case either, and no im not just talking about the gun incident.
this is why people dont rate him that much even in the NBA. that to you my friend is why is just average.
