I tore my ACL and meniscus and got surgery and went to rehab. Made me really appreciate what athletes go through on a whole different level.
Who asked?
@@YungPhilosopher who asked you to comment?
Difference is most of them have guaranteed millions and the best doctors
@@freddycalipari4242difference is they have to return to play at the highest level
@YungPhilosopher Don't comment if you don't care biotch.
This show is real. Its dope getting stories from the athletes perspective
Slowly turned into my favorite nba show for sure💯
Two athletes. No one cares about Wanda Sykes over there

Lol until McCants starts talkin 😂😂😂😂🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
I got a lot of respect for D. Rose and G. Hill. For their comebacks after comebacks
paul george had the greatest comeback and barely gets his respect for how elite he still is

Yo Kenyon making my knees hurt 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂 I’m crying TEARS!!
Knowwwwmmsayin😂😂😂
Remember the trainer in Portland who was supposed to take care of Brandon Roy and Greg Oden? I read an article by a kinesiologist who went to examine them (their joint functions and way of moving) and who warned that trainer about their biomechanical imbalances (in their ankles). The trainer would not take it serious and therefore did nothing to adress it. We all saw what happend to these guys.
Exactly killed those guys career yell
Wow wonder if that guy got fired. You would think that’s unacceptable.
I think they fired that staff and then hired a brand new training staff when they got Lillard if I’m not mistaken.
@@IChocolateBearIthey Clippers should do that this season they still have the CP3 era medical staff which is not good
@@iamhorcruxerthis is why I’m glad they’re being named and shamed!
Dope how they tellin the real! For Kenyon to even have a full career after what he went thru in college is crazy. i remember watchin him play. beast !
He had the whole NCAA scared of him and Cinci his Senior yr
Word!
I had a trainer in hs get mad at me for going to the doctor for what he said it was a strained knee. MRI showed a torn meniscus. Obviously can’t compare to these guys but yea I get it
Nah bro u making a good point these trainers really don’t care , I see they job is to get yo back on the court as quick as possible , it’s messed up
@@Only1DeeKayy🎉ya
I see it like, If people in high school go through this where their coaches, trainers lie to them about injuries imagine at the Profesional level where there's millions on the line
That’s a sign of extreme incompetence - when you get upset at a high school kid for seeking the opinion of a REAL medical professional. In fact you should get a second opinion for EVERYTHING no matter who said it. 80% of second opinions don’t agree with the first.
Kenyon makes the listener feel what he's saying
“It’s called WEED.” 🤣👏
Best medicine. 🗣️💯
As I’m in Jamaica 💨💨💨
Fans think injury (like playing the game) is like 2k (simulation). They make the money they make for a reason. Players go through it year round.
It is. I couldn’t give two sh**s when players get injured. They need to suck it up and get they asses back on the court. This is supposed to be entertainment. No one gives af about their personal lives
Kenyon talking about what he went through was greatly appreciated. As a basketball 🏀 fan I never thought about that part of what these players go through . The Sacrifices that you all went through 😮Wow . As fan’s we watch and cheer, but we never think pass that THANK YOU KENYON AND GIL FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME. I SALUTE YOU 🙏🏽PLEASE DO ANOTHER SEGMENT ABOUT THIS TOPIC ABOUT LIFE AFTER BASKETBALL. THIS WAS VERY INTERESTING.
A real one for real
❤
I ruptured my Achilles and has surgery. 5 months later, I’m at 50% of where I used to be. People don’t realize how much punishment athlete take to play.
Martin was a BEAST. Played his heart out. Definitely wanted him on your team!
These are the conversations that civilians never hear. Y'all are warriors.
Man after I went through tearing my meniscus and walking around on it for 4 months then having surgery then rehabbing it’s hard as hell and depressing you really feel helpless after having surgery. It gave me a new respect for them dudes going through that then getting back out there to play
They are paid millions of dollars it’s not the same
@@justthisguy1948the only difference between you and these athletes is they are richer. There are still humans with bones and ligaments.
@@justthisguy1948 so what? A millionaire still feels pain. Making millions isn't going to lesson the pain of going through rehab
@@the_dark_knight5140 it absolutely helps
@justthisguy1948 you broke idiots really think money fixes everything huh? You think these athletes aren't humans with feelings and emotions because they have money?
Shout out to Kenyon dawg we love you for sharing your experience brother, pain is relative but most importantly relatable…
K Martin keeping real lol
3:00 It reminded me of what recently happened with Victor Oladipo and the Pacers also it makes me think of Derrick Rose situation in Chicago when they would rush him back
Kawhi too with the spurs
Same with IT and Brandon Roy and even Oden.
@@DMalltheway B Roy was going to happen regardless. He didn’t have any cartilage left in his knees. This wasn’t malpractice. Just unfortunate.
Yeah. I felt so bad for Oladipo, he was just getting in rhythm
Derrick Rose was NEVER rushed back. Teammates said he could’ve and should’ve gotten back sooner for the 2013 playoffs… took more time to reinjure himself 8 games into the next season.
Sounds like a doctor from the Veterans Administration 😢
My dad got injured in the military and they tried to play around and say his injuries weren’t service related. Went off on they dumbasses and got his disability
😂
😂 I swear.
Rehab is literally like learning how to walk again as an adult
I can't imagine what Gil, Kenyon, Brandon, Shaun Livingston, PG, and KD had to go through thats rough on the mind too.

Makes me wonder more about Kawaii and Spurs
Nothing to wonder kwahi quit on the squrs took his talents to Toronto and won a chip tony Parker hates him lol

This was one of the realest clips I’ve seen on here! Loved it!
One of the best episodes !
Great topic and insight.
When kmart speak more he shows his true value to the show hes a gem to the show💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
30 years of work packed into 10 years or less. We don't feel that. Our knees click for less
I’m so glad y’all spoke on this. How many athletes have suffered through injuries or worse lost their careers
Enjoyed this episode
Kenyon said he was "unsolicited" crying, lmao 😂 Now that's Pain.
“Just take this leg, I’d be in this mf 🦼 🦽 💨 “ 😂
😅😅🤣😅 thought I was the only one that saw that!! Maaan, Gil stays being Gil!🤣
My man K-Mart is different. The realest!!!
1. Always get an MRI with contrast.
2. Isn't Dr. Trainer the one that said Keith Van Horn was fine but he had a broken Ankle?
Powerful testimonials
I remember when Kenyon Martin got hurt and this happened I can relate to it. I was very happy and relieved that he found the right doctor and end up playing more NBA basketball 👍🏾. On the other hand I can relate to it I having a torn patella, chewed up meniscus, repositioning of my heel and extension of my achilles tendon. Doctors as far as I'm concerned with butchers and they basically experimental. Wish I was in a position as you brothers were to avoid better doctors but thank God you all made it and Hall of famers in my eyes. As a basketball player who never got that far but always in my love the game. To God be the glory I've had a total of 20 surgeries major 😇😇🙏.
Great conversation. Awesome stuff.
Real convo … salute 🫡
Respect for sharing these personal stories
This is why the leauge needs a union for this players after they are done
2 Achilles surgeries within 5 months of each other. It’s been 13 months since the first one and still can’t really run. The amount of strength I lost in my calf is Wild. I’m walking around with one big ass calf and one slim Jim 😂
Your gonna get thru it bro! Keep pushing!!
Mannnnnn!!! I had MRSA before on my stomach. Decided not to take the pain medication when they cleaned it the second time. Lawdddd!! Straight scrapping my flesh. I learned how a animal feels getting cut on with that blade.
Very good video…great information…..
This conversation got real real man, injuries, surgeries and rehab, thats why they get payed millions, they literally sacrifice they body to entertain bruh Sports is the modern day gladiators no cap!
They was draining Mike(Wizards) knee almost nightly and they said the fluid was black. Mike played on one leg and averaged 20.
That's why it's so impressive to see Jamal Murray come back even better than he was before the rehab.
Look Denver made sure he was healthy
Denver either was overly cautious or Murray got multiple screenings and did a Kawhi and waited patiently
Love KMart man, great story teller! Was a real beast too! 😂😂
Kept it real in this one
It's stuff like this that makes feel for athletes. Especially when people say they just playing a game they don't really do anything.
That’s why I don’t get how people mock Ben Simmons. This guy got a spine surgery. I got a hairline fracture on my back in 2015. To this day, I don’t function the same. I don’t sit, walk, sleep, or do day to day task the same way anymore. And this guy is bumping with giants.
This literally what I argue wit my guys about kawhi, Ben & pg they call em trash & im like how tf u mad at injuries 🤣 same with ad at least when they healthy they at the top of they game it’s not like they bums
Facts PG broke his damn leg in half and still out here hooping lol. Makes me think of embiid too his knee basically empty at this point. That’s gotta be hell
Exactly I never ever talked down on Ben that man had legit injury
Kenyon is hilarious 😂
I appreciate this group keeping it 100000%
My son is 16 and has tendinitis in his knee.
The pressure to come back early early is real!
Hearing stories from these vets is what you need to put your Heath and body first
As a person that's older now and my athletic days are behind me, never let your young man go if he's not 100%. I played High level HS football and some college, I got hurt my senior year in HS but being young I thought I just pulled my groin and I played through it instead of getting checked out. Needless to say 10-12 years later my lower half aches and I need Surgery
That's why I hate when people give Kawhi shit. He has had to deal with tendinitis in his knees and people don't realize how painful that is. When he sat out, it's not because he didn't want to play but because he had to rest his knees
The dark side of surgeries stories told... this was
Wild...
This conversation was exceptional.
My brother sent me this video because my dad is currently refusing rehab and is sooooo mean to my mom and he is not a mean person. I truly appreciated them being so honest. I never thought about half the stuff they were talking about. How athletes just disappear after injuries and how they can be mean during recovery. I had to bust out laughing when homie said he would choose his mom over his girl. Why?! Why. His girl I am sure loves him and wants to be there and take care of him. It just shows how sometimes men and women think about situations differently.
Doctors really messed kenyon and Gil up . Especially kenyon he was robbed of all-stars selections all nba selections all defensive nods and possible a hall of fame nod
Man I’m 2months into my first injury ever and I ruptured my patellar tendon and everything they saying is 100% true! Man I pray I never deal with another one before I go but to any and everybody out there dealing with a injury PLEASE GO TO REHAB and continue to rehab forever to help not have these same stories for you
I’ve been fortunate enough to have drs and trainers that care enough. I remember when I cracked my knee cap ts was terrible
Same bro
And these convos are why you never hear players bashing another for an injury. This video made me realize why 1 month the team comes out and says rehab going exactly how it’s posed to then the next month they say it was a setback or they got reinjured.Zion and lonzo perfect examples.
Us military guess being going through similar shit. I had a nerve burned in my back smh. Literally got cleared 5 months for a deployment after ACL and meniscus surgery. Shit ruined me for life smh
What? A nerve burned, ACL and meniscus surgery?? And you got cleared in 5 months ???
@@nike9009 welcome to the Army, made no sense but I was young so my mindset was hell yeah
Love and Like is what seperates pros and wannabes. I didnt love it enough after High School. My Knees were shot at 18! No cartilage.
I believe thats the reason Kawhi left SA was because of the misdiagnosis from the staff in SA, I dont think hes fully recovered still.
The mental game is so much tougher than people think, it's about life.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Being mentally strong is harder than we ever make it especially men we keep moments of mental weakness to ourself like it makes us pussy its part of the reason we die early in droves over our pride leaving our women and offspring alone and confused in this crazy world
K mart need to be on there everytime, he as real as it gets
Damn Miko didn’t bring her twins this episode!?
Yup no jumping jacks 😅
I wanna smash her too.
“ so u got a dimple right now “ 😂😂😂😂
I tore my acl in august of 2022 had to wait for surgery in late January 2023. Im definitely not the same as I once was and I can still feel it pain somewhat but I’m grateful for being able to walk somewhat normal lol
So this tells me that Chicago's team doctor did D-Rose crazy!!
I remember I hurt my knee freshman year of high school and went to idk how many doctors and they all gave me a different diagnosis but never thought it was serious, fast forward to senior year my knee is still bothersome and then come to find out the tendon that keeps my patella in place was absolutely shredded causing my knee cap to just move all around my leg and I had to get patella surgery to fix it. If doctors are that careless with me a high schooler with no chance of playing pro, imagine what they do to guys that make them millions.
Best Sports Podcast hands down.
Man that same story about that guy and the broken knee cap mine did the same thing and they told me the same I had a full ride to Nebraska and my senior year I had to quit playing football for good.
I love how KMart says “nah’m sayin’”!? 😂😂
I know Toradol it’s not great for you but damn that shit gets rid of the pain like no other pill
These stories are why we now have load management
Rehab is always a hard because your body is mending. Especially after a complete katella surgery it's like learning to walk all over again and if you don't push yourself you almost guaranteed to have limited mobility. Then the psychological State of mind worried about breaking it again
I'm a military veteran and I have both my knees totally replaced. I went 11 years of shots in my right knee. I over compensated are tore up my left knee
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂Imagine hearing this and still thinking Kawhi bugging
These boys are great...always loved Kenyon's takes...straight no chaser.
Damn kinda makes me mad hearing how the organizations some don’t really give a fuck just get him back on the court smh
They invested millions
Respect, it seems to me worst emotional and physically for professional athletes after listening to their life experiences. I Tore my Achilles years ago as amateur player capable of dunking, took a lot to learn to walk, learn how to drive a car braking and accelerate with opposite foot because since I was in College and got paid to be there no choice but to go to school on one leg couldn’t just take time off, needed to get paid. The mental battle is challenging it’s not just the physical side. The mental battle beats you down after seeing your calf muscle years later, I’m still low key mad at the lack of strength and shape of my calf muscle!
Might need to activate some muscles. Squat University has some good videos on stability and reactivating muscles. Could be worth a check.
Damn this is sad! Something needs to be done about this! Smh
I played all sports baseball outfielder, basketball guard, track 4 different events, football RB… playing football I got the ball up the gut a DT fell on my foot twisted it broke my right tibia and fibula. It went from doc telling me I’d be back in 3 months to I’d never play football again. I was out the entire season but after that I was never the same again. I came back still clocked a 4.4 but I was injury prone after that my left knee started bothering me, ankle on my right leg stayed getting hurt I just gave it all up.
Martin was just in an episode talking about how he played through a broken hand because he didn't want to come out now this 😂
I’m happy Keynan brought this up Carmelo had the same doctor and that guy been hurt most his career why he became a shooter for real
You still one of the greatest to ever do it bruv.
3 Knee surgeries and I’m still hooping. I thank God!
Hyper extended my knee in the 3rd grade during a freak accident WALKING UP THE STAIRS. Tore my ACL, meniscus, PCL and chipped the knee cap. Took a good amount of time just to be able to bend my knee at 90 degrees. Took to running track later on and was good but not as good as I was before the injury. I was injury prone after that. Grade 1 quad tear in 10th grade, pulled groin 3 times, herniated disks in lumbar, etc.
Im glad our high school coaches took us to the doctor
I had knee surgery back in March of 2020 and I’m still not back to 100% 1:44
Tore my PLC & ACL was told I wouldn't play again now um nowhere near NBA level but I did play again and came back better than before. Rehab is a state of mind thing. Barring u have the right doctor and take enough time to fully heal and not rush back.
That MRSA pain is no joke!!! I cried too lol
Kenyon martain funny asl used to be cold on da Old 2ks too mann
They need to do more docs about sport surgery
Yep. Team doctors and trainers are not gonna be on your side. They're gonna be on the side of who cut's their check, which is the franchise. Oh, don't worry! Yo can play in 2 months! Yeah... sure
Absolutely wild
Kenny Smith knees was knocking when he was in the dunk contest. He was just moving much faster so it wasn't as noticeable
It still seems like it got worse since he retired though.
@@nukeboy4939 everything gets worse with age . I agree
