I really don’t understand why they thought 45 inches was a good idea. If they were really set for a dumb size like that it should be have at least been 3840x1600
The DWF is absolutely phenomenal. I have it since a few days and it blew me away. Make sure to properly calibrate the HDR colors in windows etc. There are good reddit threads for this.
I got the DW the other day at Micro Center for $850 open box. They said it had a scratch , turns out it was just a scuff in the rear I end up cleaning with goo gone. Good as new. It's fantastic. It also makes me wonder about the pixel density on this LG monitor because it's the same resolution and yet quite a bit bigger.
@@jasonstatham483 people wanted high refresh rate 1440p Oled monitors cause at 1440 even ultrawide it’s easier to get a consistent 120-240fps. 45” would be great for 4k but most people’s gpu can barely even do 4k 60 at max settings which is why this resolution makes sense, but not the size. Almost all monitors at this resolution are 34”.
To each their own, but to me below 100 fps is not "pretty well". I have a 4090 + i9 13900k and the setup is finally good enough for 2k with ~144fps most of the time. So why would you want to downgrade to 80 fps 4k which just feels so bad compared to 120-160fps
Fantastic review of this monitor, best one Ive seen so far. I got this monitor and currently testing it. For gaming is fantastic, although mainly I have been using it for FPS games and have to say it has caused some motion sickness and I am sitting at least 80 CM away from the screen. For story based games there is no question about it is one of the best I have tried due to the screen size, the next one runner up will be the Alienware 34inch OLED. The part where I am struggling and don't know if really returning it, is the pixel density, it is really noticeable for text reading :/
Amazon has a crazy deal right now for the updated 2024 model with a 30% off coupon, bringing it down to under $800. I have an LG 38GN950-B which I love but have really been wanting to see one of these 45" OLEDs in person. Pulled the trigger just now. If the lower pixel density don't bother me it's likely a keeper.
My end-game monitor would be a 38" 21:9 144hz 3840x1600 OLED. Sure, it could have better specs and it would be an improvement but for my use I don't see a need for anything beyond that.
For me being a AntiGlare Panel and not a Glossy Coating is a dealbreaker especially for this price, I would rather buy a 42" C2 for way cheaper and use Ultrawide resolution mode or Custom RES, also being able to play at 4K and 2K 16:9 without black bar, not to mention having great integrated speaker with dolby Atmos.
"THIS is the ULTIMATE" on a sponsored video. Ultimate battle 22 was also supposed to be an ultimate DBZ game. Guess what, it was chocolate enrobed dog crap ! But yeah the intro cinematic they played in loop on every game store back then, sure looked ultimate, just like the anime.
I've got this monitor. Wish it was 3440x1600. I don't really care about 4K and would honestly prefer to stay away from it. I will always choose a higher refresh rate. The PPI is low in this monitor, but honestly I don't notice it at all and I set about 18 to 22 inches away
I love this monitor. People always comment about the PPI but it really isn't such a big deal. Ingame you won't notice it as much. They also gotta be real about their ability to push 240 frames in 4k. I have a 4090 and even with such a flagship I can't possibly reach 240 in 4k in every game with max settings. If you advocate for eye-candy, and then go out of your way to lower settings, just you can reach 4k at 240, you are fooling yourself. 1440p at arms length distance with this monitor is fine. Games are fun, colorful and look vibrant with ultra settings. Super smooth, no blur. The little fringe text issues on desktop is the least of my worries (and common to all OLEDs by the way, not ppi)
Looking forward in getting a OLED eventually. Most likely it will be another year or so. I can see the pixels on this video from my screen. Sure it is beautiful but I currently have 110 PPI and not willing to go lower. Maybe 1 more year...
I believe this monitor is 82 PPI. 45" too big for 3440X1440 res. It would've been great if it was 38". I don't care about 240hz, 120 is enough for me. So, I picked up 42" C2 OLED instead. It's a lot cheaper too.
Glad to see this review. Iam look at Switch my LG TV Oled CX to a monitor for exclusively Simracing game. I wait my order but i think i will be very happy 😁
whats the ppi like? i feel like i notice pixels too much on a 34" 3440x1440, id imagine its even worse at 45" which is a size i start considering 4K because of view distance being under 3ft
I switched from an odyssey g9 to this. I can say the ppi difference was glaring at the initial switch, but its perfectly fine after 2 weeks of looking at it. I dont even notice it anymore. it was worth the switch
Around 32 inch is where 1440p and 4K are noticeable different. I had a Samsung neo g7 for awhile and it was beautiful outside of horrendous HDR (the reason why I returned it). I tried the alienware oled and it was very noticeable the difference in ppi.
The pixel density was so low I felt like I was playing in 1080p and it started giving me a headache after about an hour of using it because it was so massive. Ended up returning and going for the 27 inch model much sharper much better looking..
Gotta say I just found your videos and I love it I just bought my first build and the parts are all coming in hopefully I don’t mess anything up but I wish for a lifetime I could be building pc’s and maybe I’ll even ask for your help if I mess up I live nearby in winter springs But dude I love your content👍👍
I am waiting for a 32 inch curved 16:9 4K oled. I loved the neo g7 except for its hdr and VA ghosting. I tried the alienware ultrawide qdoled and I miss the 4k ppi
I have the Samsung OLED G8 and I was looking at returning it and getting this LG. I couldn't care less about the ppi because it would only be used for gaming, but I'm concerned about the brightness as it is lower than the G8 and I don't know if that's really what makes me like the G8 so much.
hey Greg what would be the difference between this and the LG OLED flex other than the screen size and the price? and between the two which would you rather have for gaming?
I have this monitor and I have to say that Greg is so wrong about the PPI. For gaming it’s fine, but for productivity, nope. The low PPI and OLED makes text fringing worse. Even if you were three feet away it’s bad. My setting is scale windows to at least 125% and install Mactype. The monitor doesn’t need to be 4K, but it should have at least been 3840x1600.
This monitor's issue isn't the PPI it's the WBGR subpixel layout. Their smart TVs use an RGBW subpixel layout that is much better for text. I use the LG C1 55'' on my desk with a similar PPI and I think text looks perfect on it.
I just bought the Innocn 32m2CV on sale at Amazon for $850. Though Innocn is no-name Chinese manufacturer, the panel seemed to good to pass up for the price (4K, 144Hz, 1000 nits, 32', mini-LED with 1152 dimming zones). The panel is the same as a $3000 Asus panel. I've only had it for a day, but so far, the panel has been awesome. It has almost all of the advantages of an OLED (high contrast, deep blacks, etc) without any of the negatives (burn-in, warped text, low brightness, price, etc).
1152 Dimming Zones are not really a lot when comparing to my MBP 16" and its 2550 Zones. I would guess it still has blooming, especially in darker scenes. Also its "only" 32" and also "only" 16:9 aspect ratio. So if someone wants a big display with a wide aspect ratio display for gaming it doesn't cut it. I currently have a 32" DELL VA Display (S32something DGF) and its really difficult to find something that would really make a difference besides a new OLED Display (Alienware QD, Samsung G8, this LG). Prices are also still rather high but this one here really does seem very enticing. Right now i am playing on my 83C1 and am looking for something comparable in the desktop space.
1440p was a smart decision. At 4k you'd need a truly beefy system to run it and have good frames at 4k. 1440p OLED will be PLENTY gorgeous enough without 4k and it will allow enough systems that don't cost $3k to run it at maximum frames. I'm buying one next week and I'm absolutely stoked.
It is support custom 4k resolution? I have an Asus Monitor VG32VQ with native 1440p resolution and 144Hz but for may totaly surprise I setup custom resolution at 2160P (4k) with 144Hz and works very very fine!! Test it!!!
Currently have a 4K LG C2 OLED 48" in my tiny living room, and I sit roughly 4-5 feet away in my comfy chair and use it as my daily tv/console gaming monitor. I think a 45" 21:9 monitor is too big for a desk setup, especially mine since it's only 60cm deep. I'm more likely going for a cheaper 34" monitor later down the line.
I have the newer GS version of this 45 and love it. I push it with a 4090 at full ultra settings and DLSS Quality and it looks phenomenal and 120+ fps on AAA. I wanna meet all these people that can drive a 4k ultra wide resolution of this monitor at a high frame rate 🤷🏻♂️
@@HDRGamingHub I use a 42in LG c2 as a monitor and it’s passable. I’d prefer a 32inch 4K oled but no one makes one yet. If the Samsung neo g7 were an oled it would be perfect for me

2-4w speakers are useless in the monitor as they will be back firing, better off spending $10 on a little bluetooth speaker with the same but front firing or $15-20 on a 2.1 system that comes with a sub, either option would be superior to 4 watt back firing speakers.
I bought the Amazon Basics monitor wall monitor mount in silver which is just a rebranded Ergotron monitor wall mount for this monitor. It holds up to 26 pounds and will hold it just fine. (The LG is 18 pounds) It costs $100 or cheaper if you get it as a warehouse deal.

Ignoring price, if they come up with a 27 - 32" 16:9 (or better 16:10) OLED monitor at 2k resolution I might actually consider buying one. Gigantic size, ultrawide, and curved are all a hard *no* for me - yes I have tried them before as an early adopter.
@@slayerboii86 Well whaddya know, they do have one now - the 27GR95QE-B. Doesn't pop up here on Amazon or Newegg, but Best Buy has it. The rated 200 cd/m brightness spec is a bit brutal though.
I don't know if we'll see actual native 2k OLED monitors since that's a 17:9 ratio and not that common outside of cinema screens. They do have some 2.5K OLED dsplays though at 27''.
Yeah that's the biggest turnoff for this screen (other than the matte coating). For $1700 you could by the LG C2 AND an RTX 4070Ti. This monitor needs to be at least $200-300 cheaper before it starts to make sense.
Pubg doesn't benefit from an ultra wide as it just pulls the rest of the view in. So you have a narrower FOV. This is what happens on my super ultra wide 32:9 screen it is unplayable
Genuine question, Between this and the Samsung G9 OLED(the G95SC) What would be the deciding factor? Or i guess what would make you pick between the two and why?
i want to go oled , useing LG38GL950G ultragear with 3080 TI and runs great .. but for near viewing i just think 45 inch is too much , i went from 32 to 34 then 38 and this seems masive when close too it . maybe have to wait a while for a 38 to come out ...
Honestly for a ultrawide monitor is 38 inches the sweet spot... 45-49 inches monitor are just too big... But i have to say, is a wonderfull monitor... I have 2 LG Oled TV (55 C1 and 42 C2 evo) and they have a fantastic immage, i love them... I hope the evolution of monitors are Oled.
I'd really love to give this monitor a try for longer than just a store demo, but I already have the AW3423DW. I feel like aside from the size and immersion, it would be diminishing returns at this price point.
Update: I gave it a lengthy demo a month ago and ended up buying it, it does not disappoint whatsoever. Honestly, the only four things the Alienware AW3423DW has over it are: -Brighter panel (but not by much) -More saturated colors -Greater pixel density -Glossy coating (the coating is not as good as those on LG's OLED TV's and makes blacks look gray under light. Keep in mind that the LG 45" OLED monitor matte coating is not exactly matte. It is more semi-gloss; think the kind on the AW2721D). 34" is also a better size for most people, but otherwise the LG is more feature rich and an very immersive display. It also feels better built to me and has bezels that aren't intrusive like the AW3423DW. The refresh rate is far better than the AW3423DW too. I love it, but ultimately with the AW3423DW and AW3423DWF going on sale all of the time with refurbs being especially cheap, you have to consider what is better for your use case. You will also have to buy an extended warranty from the store you get it from, as I don't trust LG's with burn in.
I will never use a curved monitor again. After using a heavily curved screen before my eyes made flat panels look bent backward, it took so many months for the effect to go away after I stopped using it. Never going there ever again.
It's not. 80ppi are HUGE chunky pixels. You will not enjoy fine details or textures. Everything will look like a screen door. But if you like pixel, and like to make every individual pixel out, 80 ppi is for you.
Watching this on my LG 27" 4K 60hz monitor powered by an RX 5700 XT (I just consume streaming content on this PC) LG makes great panels that is for sure!

@@gex581990 Dude, size is perfect, it's just resolution low.
5:20 Most new gpus can run 4K pretty well, especially new gen. If you are buying a 1700 dollar monitor you probably already have a good pc.
The part where I am struggling and don't know if really returning it, is the pixel density, it is really noticeable for text reading :/
it's not a review you should trust. it's a sponsored video
time for me to sleep and start dreaming of this monitor
Amazon has a crazy deal right now for the updated 2024 model with a 30% off coupon, bringing it down to under $800. I have an LG 38GN950-B which I love but have really been wanting to see one of these 45" OLEDs in person. Pulled the trigger just now. If the lower pixel density don't bother me it's likely a keeper.
I ordered mine few days ago from Best Buy, I can't wait to have it !!!
how is it now that you have it?
@@FabioPagliuca I love it, I might buy a second one ahah
2:19 it's optical output and it does sound like crap. Sound is muffled even with top-of-the-line DAC's. 27inch version has the same problem.
My end-game monitor would be a 38" 21:9 144hz 3840x1600 OLED. Sure, it could have better specs and it would be an improvement but for my use I don't see a need for anything beyond that.
Basically an OLED version of LG 38GN950 (my favourite so far)!
Wouldn't mind a bump to 4320x1800, but yeah otherwise fully agreed
It's too expensive for me, but I'm still stoked because 2 to 3 years from now, the technology will be much cheaper. Looks flippin awesome
I love your optimism thinking this will be affordable in a few years lol
it took 1440p monitors a decade to have decent pricing.
Exactly. I am using that TV right now and it's really very lame to get a 32"+ monitor with 2K.
I bought the 27" variant and am loving it so far for the couple days I have had it.
I am way too used to 32:9 to ever use anything smaller lol, adding the OLED G9 from Samsung as soon as they release it (got the last G9 now)
I enjoy your videos thanks for making them.
I've got this monitor. Wish it was 3440x1600. I don't really care about 4K and would honestly prefer to stay away from it. I will always choose a higher refresh rate. The PPI is low in this monitor, but honestly I don't notice it at all and I set about 18 to 22 inches away
Sadly, it's bigger than my pocket. I would probably look for a simple IPS or VA 1440p 144 hz monitor
That is one beautiful monitor sir
Is it true that the OLED gaming monitors need to be shut down every 4hrs for like 10mins and every 24hrs for 1hr or smh like that?
Maybe 1 more year...
grab one if you can afford it, its like best monitor you can get
I believe this monitor is 82 PPI. 45" too big for 3440X1440 res. It would've been great if it was 38". I don't care about 240hz, 120 is enough for me. So, I picked up 42" C2 OLED instead. It's a lot cheaper too.
Would you prefer this monitor over the LG 48" Ultragear 4k OLED monitor?
How much did LG pay you to downplay the lack of 20160 vertical resolution?
Glad to see this review.
Iam look at Switch my LG TV Oled CX to a monitor for exclusively Simracing game.
I wait my order but i think i will be very happy 😁
sorry to ask but what game was you showing at 5:03. thanks
love so much the size, hopefully in the future will be 4K
whats the ppi like? i feel like i notice pixels too much on a 34" 3440x1440, id imagine its even worse at 45" which is a size i start considering 4K because of view distance being under 3ft
It's fine. Would only be an issue if you're less than 2 feet away.
The pixel density was so low I felt like I was playing in 1080p and it started giving me a headache after about an hour of using it because it was so massive. Ended up returning and going for the 27 inch model much sharper much better looking..
Gotta say I just found your videos and I love it I just bought my first build and the parts are all coming in hopefully I don’t mess anything up but I wish for a lifetime I could be building pc’s and maybe I’ll even ask for your help if I mess up I live nearby in winter springs
But dude I love your content👍👍
I am waiting for a 32 inch curved 16:9 4K oled. I loved the neo g7 except for its hdr and VA ghosting. I tried the alienware ultrawide qdoled and I miss the 4k ppi
In year and a half we should see 4K 27" and 32" (QD) OLED gaming monitors.
Do they make a smaller version of this monitor. Like a 35 curved oled ultrawide?
I have the Samsung OLED G8 and I was looking at returning it and getting this LG. I couldn't care less about the ppi because it would only be used for gaming, but I'm concerned about the brightness as it is lower than the G8 and I don't know if that's really what makes me like the G8 so much.
This is a bigger screen. Same amount of brightness will feel brighter on this.
hey Greg what would be the difference between this and the LG OLED flex other than the screen size and the price? and between the two which would you rather have for gaming?
I have literally no problem with the text on this monitor, it looks almost exactly the same as my old 3440x1440 ultrawide
Hey Greg. What kind of air purifier do you use?
How you finding it?
I just got the LG C2 42 which is a amazing Display for me!
Got Adapter Cable to get in to 120hz first time for me and it is so great.

I'm more likely going for a cheaper 34" monitor later down the line.
i will pay the price and get that monitor in 4k that could be a amazing monitor
This looks like an AMAZING monitor!! 240Hz AND OLED! Imma check the price and edit!

Loving my OLED. Everything just pops and the responsiveness is delicious. :)

Off topic , can I ask your opinion on choosing a PC case, available in my area, xigmatek beast vs abkoncore c550m vs antec nx410
Well actually Greg, you do need a screwdriver (included), for the remote. Boggled my mind when I first found the bit, "What could this be for?"... LG is so classy...
3840x1600 is really needed in this size. And I don't know why LG can't put some built-in speakers on this thing.
For what?
Why? What a waste that would be to 98% of it's userbase
@@TheSometimeAfter right..do we even use speakers that small.. its either headphones or a good sound system we use... 2 small speakers insert into a monitor we wont use anytime
Built in speakers where? Do you see how thin the panel is?
2-4w speakers are useless in the monitor as they will be back firing, better off spending $10 on a little bluetooth speaker with the same but front firing or $15-20 on a 2.1 system that comes with a sub, either option would be superior to 4 watt back firing speakers.
i bought one at best buy with the 4 year warranty its nice I also like the pbp/pip mode 27'' model does not have pbp/pip
Love watching all these techs im never going to be able to afford.

What type of monitor arm would you recommend safely mounting this with? I just bought this monitor last week and am looking for a solution.

How well does it handle PbP? Maybe show it's implantation? Maybe review it's features instead of trying to convince me I don't need 4k? Just saying 🙂
Only Cost 1,700.00 bucks
Yeah that's the biggest turnoff for this screen (other than the matte coating). For $1700 you could by the LG C2 AND an RTX 4070Ti. This monitor needs to be at least $200-300 cheaper before it starts to make sense.
thats a lot of inches, many more than I have
Oh god 🤣😂
🤨
can you split the screen and run two computers at the same time ?
Pubg doesn't benefit from an ultra wide as it just pulls the rest of the view in. So you have a narrower FOV.
This is what happens on my super ultra wide 32:9 screen it is unplayable
45" is too big. 34" 1440p Ultrawide FTW!
The PPI is of this monitor is below average! Oh and best of luck with finding a GPU that can push 240 fps in modern game titles at that resolution...
Same PPI as a 27'' 1920x1080p screen and those are really common.

but for near viewing i just think 45 inch is too much , i went from 32 to 34
then 38 and this seems masive when close too it .
maybe have to wait a while for a 38 to come out ...
I hope the evolution of monitors are Oled.
nice monitor, but i couldn't imagine going backwards from 4k.
Honestly, the only four things the Alienware AW3423DW has over it are:
-Brighter panel (but not by much)
-More saturated colors
-Greater pixel density
-Glossy coating (the coating is not as good as those on LG's OLED TV's and makes blacks look gray under light.
Yeah I don't like curved either. Also for the price of this monitor, you could literally buy an LG C2 AND an RTX 4070Ti.
80ppi and bad subpixel matrix on a desk screen? My recommendation is to stay away from this monstrosity.
Lol... 80 ppi for a desktop monitor is perfectly fine when viewing from 2+ft away.
It's not. 80ppi are HUGE chunky pixels. You will not enjoy fine details or textures. Everything will look like a screen door. But if you like pixel, and like to make every individual pixel out, 80 ppi is for you.
Editing out the 3 hours of trying to assemble the monitor before reading the instructions was a smart move.
