Hey guys we have the same aircon in our van. We installed 'scuppa vents' to close off those holes you cut in the floor to stop water ingress when travelling.
@@TheLifestylePioneers scupper vents from caravan plus. They were an alloy type 240x150 and 170x113. Just gotta remember to open them when using the unit otherwise it doesn't like it 😅.
Will be interesting to see how the Truma underbunk goes in Aussie summer conditions. We had one installed in our previous 21' van . It was nice and quiet, but struggled in warmer conditions, and they were New Zealand conditions, not hot Aussie ones. I often wondered if ours was an installation issue, so will be interested to see how it goes. Also how the underfloor parts go in your dust.
Noice vid. We have Ceramic coating on or DMAX expecting it to protect against some off roaad tree/bush scrapes. - Not very happy with it so getting it Wrapped.
I was watching you film this outside my caravan window at the showgrounds! 😂 Was nice to meet you! I love Suncoast Caravan Service too! They did some work on one of my vintage caravans many years ago! That ceramic coating sounds like an awesome idea...will be curious to see how it goes at repelling road grime build-up over time. Safe travels and hope to see you down the road again!
Hi from New Zealand. Another great episode,. Can you put the ceramic coating on vehicles, you could put it on your ford ranger. Have you caught up with a feel good family Paul and Katie and their show. Keep the happy travels going, Thanks Jono P
I am super keen on knowing how the Cowfish works. Are you still using the Starlink. We are getting the ceramic coating done to our van. Still in production. I hope this keeps your van looking great. We are having the interior done also and hoping this keeps the seats etc looking good. Thanks for this video ❤
Yes we are still using Starlink. The Cowfish system is great, but still needs 4g or 5g signal to work. Starlink is a good back up when that's not available.
Hey Simon. I was hoping you might include some preliminary feedback about the Cowfish internet system in this episode. I almost bought the same setup as what you installed in your van but it was a bit of a financial commitment on the day. I guess I’ll have to wait until the next episode 🤘
Thanks, Rich. I hadn't used it at this point. I don't like to review based on initial thoughts, I'd rather wait until I've had some experience with it. We've been using it for a couple of weeks now and so far it's a great solution!
@@TheLifestylePioneers As Rich said, am also very keen to hear about the cowfish. Have been looking at that system for some time. Could you please also include approximate install, setup and ongoing costs. Thanks guys for all your videos.
Lovely Van guys, are there any plans for a weights video, would be really interested in how it works with the Ranger, opens up a lot more choice than I thought.
Loved the video guys and cant wait to see the feedback on couple of the new products and defiantly a bonus with the brew house across the road we may have spent our fair share of time there in the past lol
Hey guys, love watching your episodes, always very informative 👍 What made you choose ceramic coat for the van instead of bushwraps, considering you went bushwraps for the car?
Good question! They kinda do different jobs. Bushwrapz is more physical scratches etc, ceramic coating is more to protect against contaminants and sun damage, etc. We'd love to wrap the van with Bushwrapz but it gets quite expensive compared to ceramic coating.
Another great video guys ❤ We’ve got a Truma under bed air-con in our Retreat ERV but the factory fit-out has the ducts coming straight out at the same height which meant we were only really getting nice cool feet! We’re just in the process of retro installing good quality directional vents which will push the cool air up to where it’s needed. We like your raised ducting much better (it is after all what Truma recommend for under-bed units) but if you find that third vent of yours (for the kids area) is too low down, you might find simply replacing the flat vent with a directional one, you may get an even better result.
We also have an ERV and we have the same problem as you have re direction of cool air and looked at having the vents raised . Could you please advise where you got your directional vents from .
@@TheLifestylePioneers I quite agree regards having vents higher up . We tried to get that done to no avail .in saying that we have found that even on a 43deg day the aircon still cooled our 196 caravan adequately . We don’t use the heating side because as with a diesel heater we have had in the past , it takes a while to heat up the van so now use a ceramic fan heater that heats things up instantly with no noise . We are interested to hear how the colour of your van impacts on the heat inside . We have had silver/grey vans and dark decal and now have a white van , no decal . We did a test with a hand held infra red thermometer on a 38deg day with the sun shining on it . The exterior white walls were 38deg and the decal dark grey etc was 58deg . Hence a white van now .
Great mods team. I like the idea of that ceramic coating. When when you cut the hole for your extra cupboard, how did you know where to cut to avoid the wall framing? Cheers. I'm still enjoying your episodes. Thanks guys 😊
Great mods, looking forward to hear about the cowfish setup. Looking at your video, am I right that you didn’t option for the honeycomb floor or PIR insulation?
Interesting stuff. Be keen to see how the Cowfish and ceramic coating go. Do you have a mobile signal booster such as Cel-Fi? If so, which one and how does it go?
Hey guys Is it possible to just set that cowfish up as a mobile unit so if i drop the van off i can take it in the vehicle? Is that little round black unit the ariel right?
Hay guys another good vid, just curious what the coating on the van cost as we are planning to have it on a car and interested to get a van done too ?. Cheers 👍
hey guys... what did you do to stop bulldust etc from coming up *into* the air con unit from the holes underneath? We are about to fit our unit and that has been a real worry for me.
We had the same concerns. We have a carafan which will belp, we also sealed the AC unit to the floor with foam tape to minimise dust ingress, but we'll see how it goes!
Let's face it... your smiles are bigger since Zone. Cheers from the Desert Storm. 😊 dd
🤗
Some interesting mods that will be interesting to hear your thoughts as you use them. Thanks again !
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Love the ceramic coating , We're getting our camper done ASAP . Great video , certainly gave us some good ideas .
Glad it was helpful!

Yeah, we're keen to see how it goes. Our van is a little smaller which should help.
Awesome video guys…. Thanks heaps, see you next time your around
Thanks Jenny!

We're looking at getting our new Landcruiser wrapped as well.
Looking at putting in the Truma into our van so keen to see your longer term view.
How handy the signal will reach to the car!
Love them bloopers!

There is a similar product for vehicles, but we're waiting on our new Landcruiser which will have PPF film protection. We've never met Paul and Katie.

Just be wary of the condensation build up on the aircon ducting. 👌
Nice work

I think ours are directional already. I think it's definitely going to help having the vents up high.

Hi, why did you go with the truma under bench aircon instead of the conventional roof mounted unit ?
Mainly to save roof space for more solar. It's also a little lighter but that was more of a bonus than a reason.
Great mods team. I like the idea of that ceramic coating.
When when you cut the hole for your extra cupboard, how did you know where to cut to avoid the wall framing? Cheers. I'm still enjoying your episodes. Thanks guys 😊
Thanks, Dave. We checked for electrical, plumbing, etc but we cut the frame to make the hatch fit.
Great mods, looking forward to hear about the cowfish setup. Looking at your video, am I right that you didn’t option for the honeycomb floor or PIR insulation?
That is correct. I'd probably fo honeycomb floor next time. Not sure about the insulation.
Interesting stuff. Be keen to see how the Cowfish and ceramic coating go.
Do you have a mobile signal booster such as Cel-Fi? If so, which one and how does it go?
We don't use Cel-fi as they're more geared towards phone signal rather than data, which is what we need.
Hey guys
Is it possible to just set that cowfish up as a mobile unit so if i drop the van off i can take it in the vehicle?
Is that little round black unit the ariel right?
Not too sure. Yes, that's the aerial, so you'd need a way to mount that. You'd probably be best talking to Cowfish.
Hay guys another good vid, just curious what the coating on the van cost as we are planning to have it on a car and interested to get a van done too ?. Cheers 👍
The van was about $2250 👍
