I was comment the same thing
Yea, that one had me on edge watching. Those free climbs are on another level.
Was just thinking that 👌
+1, that’s an incredible vid
lol , thats nowhere the same , its free style climb with no safety ropes
Out of all of the impressive things Eddie has done, this by far, was the most impressive thing yet. Getting scared shitless in the middle of the route, mentally freezing, and being able to regroup and keep moving forward is a huge achievement.
It's very impressive honestly. I think we saw that fearless Eddie back in his strongman peak too, willing to go deep in those dark waters and carry through.
Bruh, he sprayed blood from his face during the record deadlift from sheer effort.
@@Idiomatick Not to take anything away from Eddie, obviously the 500 kg deadlift is objectively more impressive, but it’s pretty common for people to spray blood as they’re deadlifting heavy weights. Sudden blood pressure spike etc.
I disagree immensely, I think the 500kg Deadlift at the time is a much more impressive feat. Not to say that this wasn't very impressive, it certainly was. But almost nothing is more impressive then that lift at the time. That lift was and is a wonder of the world in my opinion.
@@Idiomatick Of course no one can say anything about his 500kg deadlift. But this may be the most impressive thing ive seen him do on his youtube channel.
What you can't see in this video, is that there was a group of SEND young people at the climbing centre who Eddie was incredibly friendly and compassionate towards.
A lot of young people who we support (some of whom were there) are constantly judged or mistreated - so your patience and kindness meant the world to them.
Thank you.
thanks for all the hard work you folks do, Im uncle to 2 autistic nephews (one very severe) and autistic myself - though not diagnosed until i was in my 30's.

I don't give a shit what you think of Eddie. A man of his size, doing that climb after one lesson and it being way out of his comfort zone is something to be respected.
He had some session with Magnus in his channel
No. He's amazing and a legend that will live to tell his tale to the world.
Even when you first start bouldering tiny heights, its always respected when people get out of their comfort zone. even if its only 2 meters, getting over yourself should always get complimented no matter how far you went. thats what i learned bouldering.
Eddie is impressive he looks obese but he surprises
@@extremechimpout He has more muscles than fat bro
I watched this on magnus' channel and as a life long climber this is one of the sickest things i've ever seen. His ability to climb at that size is otherworldly. And the rate at which he learned and understood rock climbing throughout just the course of the video was crazy. He understood things about climbing that takes people years.
"You really look like spiderman, or at least someone who ate spiderman" - Magnus. Magnus is a savage damn

I have been watching your videos for quite some time, and this has been my all-time favorite video from a sheer motivation standpoint. You can tell just how anxious you were the entire time, but you fought your mental battle through the entire episode, which I want to aspire towards. Awesome video! Keep it up
Very impressive
I love Magnus, he is unbelievable, he walks up the side of that vertical cliff easier than I get up and down off the couch. Props to the beast for having the balls to do this, It really is difficult!!
People that have done that they entire life is more goat then human.
Magnus is believable.
both Eddie and Magnus are "goat"s
cool colab
Mind you in Running shoes not climbing shoes 😂😂😂😂
Any pro climber could do that.
Eddie is by definition built different, there’s a reason rock climbers are built slim and toned and not 150+kg, to be able to climb like that at that size with very little to no experience while also being the first human to lift half a ton of the ground is actually insane.
He really is a gorilla!
Magnus has talked about it on his channel, but eating disorders are not uncommon in climbing because being lighter helps. Until it starts sapping your strength and ruining your health. There's a lot of pros 60-70 kg.
That's insane. I don't think most people understand how impressive that is, let alone for a 165+ kg guy.
And getting to climb it with none other than Magnus too! Awesome.
It's not insane.
@@OriginalPuroit is insane. A 165 kg person climbing was never heard of
@@OriginalPuro try harder, kid

i realy resprect Magnus for a lot of things he is doing. But he is not a realy good teacher.

Huge respect for Eddie he tries everything and never gives up! He really is a beast and a big inspiration!
But still calls himself in the title ‘the strongest man in the world’ he’s not

@@Shadow-rg1hr he’s not the worlds strongest man now though is he genius. Hence he’s not the strongest man in world as in his titles
Everyone that has won WSM calls themselves the world's strongest man, for life, kind of like former presidents are addressed as president they all do that not just him.
I love it when a person pushes through something, thinking they can’t do it and they smash it.
Very cool
Wow, Eddie, that was truly remarkable! You must be over the moon with pride. Your collaborations with the legendary Magnus are pure gold. Keep that partnership thriving!
100%, very impressive. Eddie must have been practicing.
Eddie has become one of my favourite people to watch content on. He has such a great positive attitude towards everything. All the things I've seen him attempt he has surprised me considering his size. He has got balls to trust the kit on the outdoor stuff for his weight.
To do that wall at your weight - legit super impressive. Eddies got real balls and fighting spirit. Respect man.
Love your collaboration with Magnus! Two brilliant guys
14:57 I think Eddie may have mated with the rock at about this point. 😂💪🏼
That's how mountains are made 😁
You can say that it was rock hard for him.
@@malakai5532 so hafthor is eddies child?🤔
I could imagine that you'll play this experience through in your dreams for a while. You tried to utilize your strength to your advantage, but it's not a good substitute for technique on the wall, as I'm sure you noticed. I've been in this situation myself. I'm not a lightweight. My first treat-climbs were as nerve-wracking as they were humbling and I got hooked on the amazing silence and focus in my head when climbing. Nothing matters anymore. Anything else going on in your life is switched off for the moment and the problems in front of you are simple yet huge.
Magnus just casually lead climbing this in his trainers was epic. :D
Eddie ticket all the boxes: Pull-up the first 1/3, then burning calves on 'thin' edges (Magnus could probably take a relaxing nap on those footholds), endorphin rush on the 2/3 ledge, and even an 'alpine knee'.
Well done Eddie. A dude your physique and weight, you did a good job.
I used to train at that gym as a kid, feels surreal to see two of my heroes climbing on walls I have been on
Which climbing gym is this?
@@craigretzloff wow haha I'd love that
@@craigretzloff It's Parthian Climbing in Manchester, I've been a number of times too
The way Eddie pushes himself when he knows he needs to on the climb to get to a point of relief is really cool to see. It’s like a direct correlation from his strongman training of just pushing as hard as you can to get to that point where you can rest.
Bravo Eddie, very impressive for a first time. Makes me miss climbing, sadly I don't have the stones for it anymore.
Amazing job! Way to go. Loved the collab and Magnus coaching!
I went indoor climbing at 110kgs and i had the same fear as Eddie, the equipment. You have to remember everyone in there is 75kgs or less , usually less. Googled the tolerances of the ropes and since then have been totally relaxed as they can take 1500kgs when lopped in the figure 8 as they are using. So if Eddie knew this it would relax him a bunch, 170kgs is not a big deal for a rope that can hold a car
Its just one of those things where people of Eddies and your size very rarely if ever are put in positions like that. You're right that the ropes and equipment can hold much much more its just psychological.
100% I've done the same and it's like, none of this gear is used by big ol guys. Having some skinny rock climber try and belay me? Are you kidding?
The force when you fall is like 3-4 times your weight. So if Eddie fell a meter or more at 165 kg it would quickly accelerate to around 500~600 kg of force, the rope could still hold if what you said is true but I don't think you took that into consideration.
@@shrekjunior6144oh it's absolutely tested thoroughly and even from different use cases and load axes! So for example even the smaller of the cams that Magnus would be setting to anchor to the wall are rated based on the amount of expansion they can get in a crack, so for 9mm of expansion it is rated for 5kN but a better placement of 18mm expansion ups the rated load to 10kN. The locking carabiner for the belay device would usually be rated for 22kN or so on the top to bottom axis and also rated for 7kN if it were in the cross loaded position across the gate and opposing long side. Another part of the equation is that the rope itself is called a "dynamic" rope that has some stretch so that when you do fall the force is dispersed over a longer period of time so the impulse deceleration is reduced to better mitigate the force experienced by the anchors.
HowNOT2 is a great channel where they do 3rd party stress testing on climbing gear as well as the effects of age and wear and tear on the gear. The gear itself is extremely robust when maintained.
@@shrekjunior6144top rope “falls” are usually just slips. You don’t actually drop at all. If you fall on lead then the rope stretches to absorb the force of your fall and decelerate you while you lift up your belayer, which also decelerates you. Even climbers as big as Eddie only generate 700kg force on really big falls with the belayer anchored in place. Most climbing falls don’t even come close to that.
Very impressive Eddie. Well done. Been following Magnus for years, such an amazing bloke.
Good grunty mountings of the mountain right here.
Poor Magnus was almost bewildered at some points with Eddies shenanigans.
As a 6ft 100kg former rugby player, who took up climbing after having too many injuries, but as a personal challenge, and not to compete, I am very happy you are enjoying this new hobby of yours.
This is probably the most impressive feat Eddie did. I have friends at 120 kg who couldn't do any climbing and he did this at 160 kg.
Midtbo is a true legend
Eddie, MORE COLLAB! as a Big guy myself, i've always wanted to get into climbing as a physical hobby but didn't know if i could cuz it's such a lean sport. This video gave me faith there is. If there's a will, there's a way. PLZ MORE ROCK CLIMBING COLLABS WITH MAGNUS! You guys have great chemistry!
Big ups to Eddie for getting it done and putting in the effort to reach that goal with a crazy heavy build for the sport.
Big ups to Magnus for giving the support, confidence, and mentoring to get Eddie up there. All around loved it love the both of ya, outstanding crew on the vid making it seamless as well!
I don't often comment on youtube videoes, but this video was very impressive. You two together are dynamite! Make more climbing videoes with Magnus, and bring more strongmen!

Insanely impressive, Eddie. Well done, excellent video. Loved it and blown away you managed that.
Really impressive stuff! Great dynamisk between you and Magnus, you should do more collabs😎💪🏼
respect for Eddy for even trying this, and I must say Magnus is really a great instructer if you never have been climbing before
Not the first time the Beast has taken on a Mountain 😄 I tried bouldering for the first time last month and, as an 85kg guy, it's not surprising that Eddie has a better power-weight ratio, but it seems Eddie is also more flexible than me!
Eddie does indeed look like someone who ate Spiderman, didn't see that joke coming 🤣 This was genuinely impressive though.
Insane props to you for this amazing first outdoor climbing man ! This feeling when you start to freeze and think you're going to give up, but your mates cheer you up and you conquer your nerves to push through your limits and fears to reach the end, nothing beats that high. The pride and joy when you finish taste so sweet, genuinely happy for you to discover these feelings 🙌
Respect. It's so fun seeiing you exploring other sports. And then the excellent company you have and introduce to the audience. It's a treat.
Eddie's drive to keep pushing on is inspiring! Mad respect from Texas!
Really well done video mate 👍 best wishes!
This man has determination like I’ve never seen before. When Eddie had a goal he sees it through. That’s why he lifted 500 that’s why he is worlds strongest man. This helps you to understand why Magnus is one of the best grip athletes in the world.

You are an inspiration Eddie! Started watching your Channel in December last year, and got motivated to do weight lifting, and I am already 20kg down to 144kg, from 164kg (and not the muscle kind :D). Also got interested in Bouldering, its something to work towards to, even if it will take a while. Really impressive what you have done here, climbing a mountain with this weight, even if you are a supreme athlete, absolut inspiring man!
That was actually insane. Congrats, Eddie. O saw the video in Magnus' channel and came here running when it was over Cuzz I wanted to see your version. Amazing
i remember watching Edie lift the record and he taped into some sort of power that actually made his eyes turn color to blue and then it was like a switch and he pulled it off it was so amazing to see and seeing him do this it great this is a mental challenge that Eddie has never faced before and is a very daunting challenge but he doesn't quit and that's what makes this so great
