- New bike day, GT Avalanche Sport.
Great first ride on the new bike, I needed a bike that could be happy on trails and road. I think I've found my dream machine.
Check out my latest review of this bike: • GT Avalanche Review: T...

Nice bike Gaz. Just bought the GT Avalanche Elite. Higher spec but the same frame. By the way, respect to you for trying to keep the trails free of rubbish. Such a lack of consideration from some people.
Thanks mate, I like the fact I can upgrade this frame as and when I want to. Enjoy the trails and thanks for watching.
@Ali Very nice. Love the colour. Pretty light and good 1x11 gear range and remote locking air forks are good. Dropper post compatible too. Best hardtail I've owned.
Hope one day more people do what you do, colecct the rubbish ,great bike great review, soon will get one.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I am. Thanks for watching.
Congrats!!! Have fun with the new bike! 👏🚴♂️
Thanks dude 👍

You're welcome mate !🤘
I think it's awesome that you picked up the trash! Also, cool video bro! Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thanks for the comment really appreciate it. Glad you liked the video I'll keep on picking up the trash.
Recently bought two of these for me and my son. Got them on sale for about $400 US each. Interesting that our seat stays are welded to the seat tube as well. Anyway, I think this is a great entry-level mtb and we’re both having a great time. I think the biggest room for improvement is the fork. Planning to use the Suntour upgrade program to go to the Epixon air fork.
I might do the same to mine. Enjoy the trails and thanks for watching.
Greetings from Georgia like the vid some folks take Mother Earth for granted. Love the bike and the trail
Greetings from England, I love Georgia your country looks so beaitoful. I recently watched a couple cycle across Georgia. Thanks for watching
I bought that same bike in March 2020, I made so many upgrades to it, now it would be a tad above the Elite version. In chronolohical order:
1. Pedals : RockBros Nylon flats
2. Fork: RockShox Judy Gold RL
3. Headset CaneCreek
4. Brakes: Sram 180mm Front and Rear
5. Tires: Maxxis Minion DHF Front and Rear
6. Drivetrain: SRAM NX Eagle
Next will be a muuuch needed dropper post and better brake calipers/levers.
I'm just keeping her stock at the moment still feels really good. You must really love the avalanche then 😁
@@outdoorgaz5 I rode it stock for the first season, and threw in an upgrade here and here when budget allowed. In the end it is a really capable bike without having to pay the outrageous prices of higher end. Enjoy the trails my friend ;) !
@@MrJeVai Thanks, I'm sure I will upgrade as I go, much like you. Enjoy the trails 👍
Dis the same but the minimum is to change the pedals and remove light reflectors.I put a saddle MBT too, went for Rockbross pedals and handle, next step is to make my maxxis tires tubeless
@@bossoli60 I definitley will be replacing the pedals and tyres
I had a 2005 gt avalanche back the day .it was great!! Love this bike
I'm loving it
I didn't the price on the 2021 model.ty

Just ordered this bike myself, should arrive this week. Good vid, stoked to ride!
That feeling waiting for a new bike to turn up, enjoy the bike dude. Thanks for watching
@@outdoorgaz5 thanks man
I’m 47 and thinking of getting the elite version before winter and will add upgrades like a fork and seat post.
Sound like you know your bikes. Enjoy the trails
@@outdoorgaz5 been doing some research. It’s between this GT and the trek.
Watchout for the standard GT pedals. They have no grip in the wet. Worth a first upgrade
@@GrumpyRides I found that out the hard way. They are changed now thanks for watching
Cool bro! I was very happy to find your content. I'm from Russia and we use these bikes with everything wrong, for some reason they ride around the city and turn them into donkeys by hanging bags. I was very happy to find your video and see how the bike is used for its intended purpose
Thanks for watching, I'm sure there are plenty of trails you could ride in Russia
@@outdoorgaz5 Yes. There are a lot of trails. I am extremely interested in watching the process as others do it, and it is on the GT Avalanche bike, since I have two of them myself) We have almost no video content about Avalanche on the trailers.
@@ArtemwikBogdanov I have another trail video on my GT Avalanche, you should check it out 👍
@@outdoorgaz5Thanks) I subscribe for you will follow
Bought the same bike, its awesome!
Glad you are enjoying it thanks for watching
I got the sport but have converted it to a 1x and put new pedals and grips and I love it
Glad you are enjoying it too. Thanks for watching
Im starting into the MTB world and I think this bike will be a first even though is a little bit “old” but it’ll do the trick for sure. Video helped me a bunch thanks🤙🏻
So glad i was able to help. Hope you enjoy the trails.
th-cam.com/video/4foRcYQjkEo/w-d-xo.html My Latest video where i go more in depth on the bike.
What size frame is that please?
I have a large frame. Thanks for watching
Do you know if its tubeless or with a tube? Trying to figure that out, how can i know?
Check if it comes with tubeless tyres mine didn't. I am still running tubes. Hope that helps
I'm waiting for my gt avalanche sport to arrive, I'm 50 an recently had a heart attack, so bought myself a bike to exersice.
A great bike to start building your fitness. Hope it arrives soon.
I am 51. No heart attack but need to get in shape. Bought a mountain bike.
I’m 47 and thinking of getting the 2024 elite and hope to stay fit with it.
I hope you did upgrade the tyres so you could enjoy the trails more.
Also hoping you change the fork, stem (a shorter one), brakes and the drivetrain.😊
But the riding skills are great. I just thought the bike set up set you back.
Also, everyone should be doing that, keeping litter out of the parks.
Thanks for the comment, i'm still on stock tyres, will be upgradeding soon.
@@outdoorgaz5 and if I may add a dropper post for trail satisfaction.😊 But it was fun seeing you hit the trail.
@@dondonoplimo You should have a look at my cannock chase mtb video, some great trails 👍
@@outdoorgaz5 I did. I loved watching that. The park also had a lot of trails that suit different levels of riding. ❤️
Tested one, really liked it except for the 3x9 gears.
Wish it was a 2x or 1x. The 3x seems just too much.
Mine has 2x9 gears. Thanks for watching
My son’s came 3x9. I converted it to 1x10 (30t x 11-42)Shimano Deore group set. Way better for trail riding.
I ended up getting a Kona Firemountain which has a 1x9
I own the blue and silver version of this bike I don't plan doing any serious upgrades to it
I don't think you really need to. Thanks for watching
Very beautiful bike 😍
I'm thinking of buying one here in Brazil, I wanted to know if I can upgrade it?
Thanks for watching, the bike can be upgraded to the elite version.
Just thought I would say If you're going in 1st gear, you're pedalling so fast but barely moving, so I would recommend no lower than 3 for trailing
Yeah I try and use first if the climb is super tough thanks for watching
How do you like the 3 ring? Tested one and it's too much.
nice video, just bought 2022 version :)
Thanks for watching, I'm sure you're going to love it, happy riding 👍
Camera angle little bit infront would have been made video even more interesting. While riding you are showing the down and not the road ahead
I know, this was one of my first videos using the gopro I've since changed the angle on my more recent biking videos let me know what you think. Thanks for watching
nice bike! do you know if its possible to put a dropper with the internal cable on this bike?
I'm not sure about the internal cable but I remeber the description said that it was dropper post ready.
@@outdoorgaz5 yes, I'll check that tomorrow at my local shop, thanks for the answer :)
@@iamtimur4795 did you find out if you can have an internal cable?
Like the bikethinking about extra small im 5'7" and litter piking is comendable bro
Thanks all gotta do our part. Hope you enjoy it.
@@outdoorgaz5 we pik litter too even got on local radio and in the newspaper keep it tidy good for the planet re use recycle
Shame I cant ride a bike anymore, to much back pain involved for me.
You need a trike now, getting too old.
I hope I'm going to get paid for liking your vids.
Maybe when I start getting paid to make the videos haha.
Is GT Avalanche 2009 worth it? In 2022 im a beginner and its only 250
I'd say whatever bike you can afford is the right bike, just get out there and have some fun. I've never ridden a 2009 GT but the GTs are well built frames. Thanks for watching
idk how you ride with yr break levers so hight dip to 45degrees
Thanks for the advice dude ill try that. Thanks for watching.
What load capacity does it have???thx
For a pannier rack?
Top! Tem uma dessas. Bike muito boa.
Obrigado
Is yours a large if so how tall are you and how small could the smallest fit on it
I'm about 6ft 1 inch and bike fits me fine. Not sure I can answer the second question as I'd be guessing. Thanks for watching
Is this the xl or large I’m trying to se what’s best for trails
This is the large, I'm going to test it on some longer trails soon
So is the large is better for trails?
@@mrawallace101 Not sure I think it depends on your size but I'd imagine the smaller frame sizes are easier to handle on the trails
What's rrp on the GT? AVALANCHE
I think it's £600
What size is the bike ? And what hight are you
Size large frame and I'm 6ft 1 👍
Mine is size medium and I'm 5ft 78 (1,76 mt), just for reference.. and I fell it to be a bit small for me, even with an 80mm stem from factory.. I think I would like it more if mine was a size large, with a smaller stem, but as it goes it's a lot of fun already.
who better sport or elite i want to buy this bike for my birthday
The elite has better hardware but the same frame, thanks for watching.
@@outdoorgaz5 amm who better trek marlin 6 or gt 2022 avalanche
@@ugniusramanauskas2114 Sorry couldn't answer that one.
@@ugniusramanauskas2114 I would personally go trek but keep looking
Goodluck
You need to test that bike on the streets first, curbs, bumps, before you hit the trail, cause there are some pitfalls to these mtbs, you need to know about to get the proper feel for it..🤔
Thanks for the advice
🤣🤣🤣🤣
This looks sketchy…let’s get used to the bike first. Proceeds to find another route,
Oooo, even sketchier 😂 I can see myself saying that too if I had bought that bike.
Sometimes it's good to feel scared, thanks for watching 👍
Nice!
Thanks!
What no helmet silly
Nope definitley wearing a helmet here
Review??? Awkward attempt at a review 🤔🙄👎
Sorry if you're disappointed, can't please everyone
