I review the Peak Design Travel Tripod. I'll go over the good and the bad of this unique tripod. I'll also answer the question of whether it's worth the price that Peak Design is asking for it? How does it compare to other similar tripods...

My friend has this for traveling, so last week I ordered the Allaminium version instead of the Carbon Fiber, due to its weight which increases stability. I should also mention, according to my friend, the quick attachment plate has a tendency to come loose, so better tighten the plate with the Allen before setting the camera on the tripod.

A good review that answered a lot of my questions... Disappointed the tripod lacks panning ability... Trying to decide if that's a game changer for me.. I like the compactness of the tripod. But if one were to buy the universal adaptor and a separate ball head it really starts getting pricy... My enthusiasm for the tripod was high at first, but I am not sold on it yet. Still exploring options. But I thought your review was very helpful. Thanks!

Thanks for watching David. I can say that the lack of panning doesn't bother me at all and it just means being a little more careful if I want to shoot a pano. I have found myself grabbing this tripod more often than my bigger one for most situations.

The carbon is stiffer! I just ordered the carbon version.

Carbon all the way. Carbon stabilizes better

You're right about the carbon being able to dampen vibrations. But with a smaller lighter tripod like this one, it's not going to make much of a difference considering the price difference.
