  • I just returned from a trip in eastern Europe, visiting Ukraine and Poland. The difference between these two countries is remarkable! Just note the terrible road conditions in Ukraine!

In this kind of weather (just above zero Centigrade when snow just begins to melt) everything looks particularly shabby. Trust me, the place would look much more cheerful in summer.

Seems like a good place to open a chain of front end repair shops...I will appreciate some of the U.S roads I have to drive on more! I would still like to visit.

Doesn't look all that different from rust-belt small towns in the USA like Portsmouth Ohio. When the economy is slow and young people leaving an area, it will look tattered because little new is being constructed.

I agree. I looks similar to parts of the Appalachia or area in Canada.

Michigan's roads are about like Ukraine. I would like to see this trip in mid summer when everything is green. This looks like mid winter after a thaw when all is grey and overcast!

I would love to visit Ukraine. Apart from the road infrastructure, rural Ukraine doesn't look bad at all. In summer it should look great. I can also see lots of private buisnesses going on which is really positive. Greets from Poland.

Curiously, most of the houses (especially the ones at the beginning) looked liked they had been cared for, and well loved.
But they also looked kinda worn - As if things that were originally meant to be temporary ended up being permanent.
And things that were meant to last a long time, ended up lasting twice as long as even they were meant to last.
It kinda looks like while everything is wearing it's fatique gracefully, but it's still full of fatique.
As if they didn't have enough money to repair everything fully, and so compromises were made.
I dunno if I'm making any sense ?

I don't think things in Ukraine "fatigue gracefully". I have spent several years in Ukraine and the poor areas simply get old and fall apart.

Sorry, but that is not eastern part of Ukraine, it is just to the east from Lviv. Most of the video it is the city of Starokonstantiniv, Khmelnytskiy region (oblast). Kyiv, the capital, is about 280 km to the east from the place on the video. It is definitely Western Ukraine. The city has more than 30.000 people. It could not be considered as rural area of Ukraine. Provincial, yes, but not rural. Ukrainian rural areas are much different and worse to that on this video. Life in cities and towns is better. As for comment, that life in Ukraine looks more poor, not true either. Moscow and region in Russia are rich, but towns like this in Russia look just horroble, mostry careless woden houses, lack of work and lots of alcoholics.

+Sergii Budim Word. Never been to the Ukraine but apart from the bad quality of the roads and the cheap cars this just looks like a typical part of Western Germany.

+sergi budim , Sergei the poor people who live here in England ,we have council estates, /but there is social cleansing going on in say'' London for the property developers to buy up the land ''and also there are people who own there own houses here some of these houses what i see are definitely owned but what happens to your people on low income, unemployed, old or in bad health do you have a government funded, housing

The short answer is no. People are entitled to a Gov't pension which is about $50 a month. Sucks to be old, sick and poor in Ukraine.

Kobryn is listed as a GODFATHER to at least one Tanczuk children... my family from Volya Yakubova / aka Wola Jakubowa, . I just visited and have a lot of their cemetery pictures. They attended Church of of Saints Cosmas and Damian, and the cemetery adjoins the church. The town is 6.9 miles from Drohobych, their government center... government records might be in the town or Drohobych or LVIV.

Poland isn't eastern europe Poland is central europe :)

    • @williamgill_esq.6487
      @williamgill_esq.6487 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I disagree. Poland imo is Eastern not Central -- both physically and culturally.
Btw, While geographers say continental Europe extends to the Ural Mountains, in my geographic opinion Europe ends with Finland in the north then down thru Baltic States, Belarus and Ukraine. Russia is not in Europe and is not European in any way.
