It doesn't actually give vision on top of the pillar, it's just a visual bug; the mapmaker actually fixed this but I doubt blizzard will update the map pool with the fixed version of the map, as there's only like 1 guy working on sc2
Maybe I'm misunderstanding as I haven't played SC2 in a while, but in game one, why not pull back as Olivera and defend an orbital, using a MULE to restart your economy until you can get more scans? Is it the threat of production from Dark?
@winterstarcraft Just a random thought, but what if to finally balance marines they did the following: Create sub-tiers of marines (e.g.) 1. Ground targeting marines 2. Air targeting marines 3. Ground and air targeting (but at a damage reduction cost, maybe like 10-20%). Or after several upgrades. This would remove the general OP “universal” answer for terrans, while adding an opportunity for mind-game from the opposing races as to whether they are massing ground, air, or both. All while punishing massing marines. I feel like it’s pretty safe to say, when in doubt, build marines.
late-game upgrade unlocks the ability to aim above you lol give the same thing to the immortal and adept or since terrans have so many units that transform and stuff, give marines a transform between air and ground modes ;) most rifles do have different sights for shooting planes, so, it could make sense that they have to change something on the gun for a couple seconds to be able to aim at air units
There was something similar in Dawn of War, where you can equip your basic infantry with either anti-infantry, anti-armor, anti-something, but you could only choose one. In starcraft I would assume it would act like a 'morph' in the same way zerglings morph into banelines
I love watching Oliveira really flexing his macro and tank pushes in games 2 and 3. The way he sets tanks up for both offence and defence is incredible, and I don't see the other terrans do it nearly as well.
do like Oliveira's flexible style. Banshees in game 2 since he knows it's just roach ravager on the map, giving him free scout and damage. Game 3 building a good amount of hellions/bat with marines since they'll be more effective against lings and serve as a better soak, while the marines can be the generalist that they are. After watching a few TvZ, it seems like tanks are probably not that great against zerg, given their slow build, high cost, friend fire and low mobility. Shifting the costs around to get marauders + widow mines to cover a flank is a much better decision.
tanks are actually amazing if they're in position and set up - their immobility is their only weakness. they're fantastic on defense or when slow-pushing; Marine/Medivac/Marauder certainly has more map control and mobility than tank compositions, and that's one of the strengths of that flexible army type - being able to attack in multiple positions at the same time easily or fly into areas where the other player doesn't have an army. However, tanks really are king of the ground, so vs roaches or banelings they're really helpful. Marine/Medivac/Tank comps do get used, especially before ghosts/liberators hit the field.
@@chloesmith4065 there really aren't enough places where tanks can just shoot with impunity, even against lings. There aren't like massive forward cliffs where lings have to run to the back to then run up to reach them. And even when positioned behind stuff, ravagers can 3 shot them with spells anyway, greatly limiting the amount of damage they can dish out. Slow pushing requires enough tanks to leap frog properly, which you generally won't get the time to actually do, since you either have too few tanks covering the moving ones, or you have too many doing the covering, which makes it an incredibly slow push.
@@rickzor2700it's not a roast, we're in agreement here. however, the guy I was replying to was saying tanks are bad in TvZ, in a comment on a video where tanks very significantly contributed to the wins in this best of 3, so it seemed like some clarification was in order. you and I might know it's extremely valuable unit if positioned correctly and protected, but some other people might just think "they get 3shot by ravagers, why build them at all?"

+ a like for 42 game 1 felt like a big throw at the end, couldve lifted much sooner, built one raven over the course of 30 minutes, moved the liberators to the mineral line, preserver one tank, etc... lurkers feel super broken with 10 range and nearly instant burrow, but all the counters were there. also funny how you can EMP cloaked units to see them but not burrowed. Not saying EMP should do anything more than it already does but it's just kind of an odd interaction. I suppose thematic because a cloaking field requires power. dark really did outplay at the end, but I feel like oli started playing bad after the fungal and lurker blasting almost all his ghosts somewhere between 23:18-23:25 ... Lots of questionable unit control but this one just felt like a critical mistake. Could still win after that if he switched to "base trade mode" sooner I think... and not lose 3+ orbitals to just lings and maybe 3 hydras. just pull some/most of the army back and clear the threat, you can win with mules I think... Gg though for sure, what a game 1.
