      I was just looking at them online. The dealerships don’t have any. I bet there’s a shortage of parts. Also, they’re kind of expensive. Not to mention VWs are unreliable. I’ll never buy one again, but I’ll lease one. That way I can give it back before the electrical problems, oil consumption/leaks, and failing timing chains start happening.

    There is actually an easier and quicker way to turn off the lane keep assist. You have to press the button on the end of the left steering wheel stalk and it brings up a menu in the digital dash cluster. The lane keep assist is the top option so you just press the OK button on the right side of the steering wheel and it’s turned off.

    Just bought a 2021 SEL Premium last week. Awesome car with great looks and nice technology. This car is replacing a 2008 BMW 528i that I purchased new thirteen years ago. I am a German car enthusiast and love my BMW but there are a few things that BMW is doing now which I don’t like. The first thing is unless you are purchasing a black or white exterior paint job then you are paying extra for any metallic paint. Second is run flat tires. I don’t like them as I prefer a traditional spare and RFT’s are expensive. The third thing is a base 530 car which runs you over 50k comes with vinyl (sensatec) seating covers. To get to the Napa line of leather you have to jump two trim levels which takes the car to over 60k. My Arteon has Napa leather seating, a full size spare with the matching wheel, and there was no up charge for pyrite silver metallic on the exterior. To me this is an awesome car which I got at 42k and free money from VW credit.

      I traded my 2016 A7 for 2021 VW Arteon Rline, not gonna lie the interior is pretty good but fun part does not match Audi. It is pretty lazy of the start, and deley between smanualy shifting gears is anoying. There is a lot of things in this car that VW should have and could have done better. For starters should not gone fully digital for all the adjustmants. Should have kept a lot of nobs.

    Thanks for another great review. I currently drive a super-clean Avalon with a killer Focal sound system and, as a wedding photographer whose car gets frequently used as a luxury Uber, I REALLY like the space & storage matrix they've put together here. Due to historical reliability, I'm always drawn to an Avalon or ES350 but this car is compelling to me. It's not a GTI, but no car with a big backseat will ever be a GTI. I'll probably get an ƒ-Sport ES350, and just admire Arteons at the stop light. Fun to drive? Everything's a sports car compared to an F-150 or Ridgeline.

    Few interesting things I found for North American market was:
    1. Port injection per press release
    2. Tri zone AC standard on all variants . Avalon has only dual zone.
    3. Bottle holders & glove box has padding.
    I think SE which is under 35k is the best variant to go with. Got the chance to test drive arteon se & accord 2.0 yesterday and I personally liked fit and finish of vw is excellent. Doors are heavy, camera has more clarity and infotainment has best contrast & audio sound is very nice. Accord 2.0t runs on 87 octane which saves money in pump, very soft & comfortable seat. One thing I observed Honda offers ota update which is very nice.

    • @DeniJasmina
      @DeniJasmina 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The Honda Accord is nowhere near the Arteon league, but have you checked out the price on a Toyota Avalon which doesn’t even come in AWD? I doubt you did.

    • @mattmolloy636
      @mattmolloy636 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeniJasmina not for anything, but the Avalon is a big comfortable boat that isn’t trying to come off as performance oriented, it’s a dressed down Lexus. This Arteon is a dressed up Passat masquerading as performance oriented luxury option, when it’s neither sporty or luxurious. As far as premium regular cars not manufactured by luxury brands, the Avalon blows the Arteon out of the water with the cabin materials and has an advantage of 33hp and 9 lb-ft torque with a reliable V6. I’ve driven both, and my friend’s Arteon felt like the Passat I had for two weeks as a budget airport rental when I was on vacation. Lastly, the tech offered in the Avalon at $43k is far superior than what’s offered in this VW, which has tech from generations ago and costs $48k. I see very few Avalon’s on the road, so it doesn’t surprise me that it’s being discontinued after this year, but I see ZERO of this car on the road and I’m dumbfounded that it’s still around. Hell, a fully loaded Mazda 6 turbo costs $12k less than this Arteon and blows it out of the water.
      As far as the Accord is concerned, there’s a reason why it’s cheaper than the Arteon. With that said, there’s also a reason why it’s more expensive used 😂

  • @Vedad24

    okhere is my opinion on it and to point out some of the things that you missed in your 1st 6 minute review. First of this year I went from 2010 CC ,which I had for couple of years, to 2016 Audi A7, which by the way is an excellent 4 door performance car, the supercharge in that engine makes a lot of difference comparing it to turbo, literally instant power and super fast!. I could not even imagine how rs7 would feel. That being said I had a break down, even though it had only 46k miles on it and the break down cost me 5300$ to fix it, it was software/electronic issue that pretty much controls everything in that car. If you gonna buy Audi make sure it is brand new or get every possible coverage you can get when buying used one. That made me to go back to a dealership after only 4 months and find something else. I decided to go with 2021 VW Arteon R line. The main reason I decided on it was because of the looks, It resembles A7 pretty close, also all the tech in it is very similar to what my A7 had so it was pretty easy to get used to navigating through it. I had that car for 2 weeks now and I have few things to say. 1st of even though it has 268 hp of the line is super slow! There is no that instant kick the Audi had even with all drives, it takes about 1 to 1.5 seconds for Turbo to kick in and then you can feel little kick but whoever you gonna race they will already be car and a half ahead of you and you will always have to play catch up game, 2nd thing that anoyes me is delay between gear changes! Even when you put in "manual" so you can shift gears on shift pedals there is a huge delay between each gears. Another thing it is pretty big car but the outside mirrors feel really small comparing it to my CC and A7. Now in my own opinion for these issues i brought up 49k is definitely not worth it. Another thing what is annoying even when you go to main settings and you turn off all the assist features off and then once you stop and turn off your car and go back in all of them will be back on so you have to do it again before leaving. All this has to be done before you start driving because once you drive you can not navigate anything in car setting, it is locked due to "your safety" which is so stupid because you also have passenger who can play with all that. A7 you could do anything you wanted while driving. As far as line assist goes you can actually press button on your left nob where high beams are and you will get the screen pop up and you can actually turn it off right there with pushing ok button, so you do not need to do that in mail screen in the middle as you said. Also what you were wrong about, the spare tire is doughnut tire, it is not same size as on the car. Another annoying thing are all the controls are touch screen for everything so you have to be right on it to adjust. even if is as simple as increasing your temp, when driving is almost impossible to get it right because your hand moves around. VW SHOULD HAVE LEFT ACTUAL NOBS FOR STUFF LIKE THIS! and yet they leave manual adjustment for steering wheel tilt, it is not adjustable by pushing the button like in A7. Same it goes with controls on the steering wheel, you have to be right on it or you will push the wrong button. Another bad thing is the trim at the bottom of doors feels really cheep and it seams like it will eventually pop out or bent outwards. Now the good things I like: steering wheel is super nice, it feels superb in your hands, even better than A7's felt, ambient lights are cool to and you can adjust it to any color you like. It looks very nice at night in the door panels and around dashboard. A lot of room, seats are comfortable and actually dont feel cheap, Another good thing you can open and close your trunk with foot movement under the bumper, you can also start the car remotely as well so it will be nice in the winter. Also another cool thing when you start your car at night it does little headlight display so it is entertaining to watch it from inside the car and you also have LED stripe across the entire front bumper. So overall I do not thing it is worth 49k, I also thing that engine is way too small for that car, it should have been at least V6 or perhaps inline 5 with supercharger, the car should have minimum of 300hp, it actually handles desent so no changes there. The only reason I got it because I wanted something brand new and German so I can have varanty till I pay it off and then I can buy brand new Audi. I would give 6/10 for this car overall score, it could definitely been better with few things, but it is much much better than a lot of other VW models.

    You can toggle the safety systems via the digital dashboard w/ the steering wheel controls. You can use an OBD Eleven to turn on Adaptive Lane Assist, which makes the system so much better. I do not know why VW does not activate it for the American market.

    Worth noting that discounts here in the Seattle area of both the mid-trim SEL R-Line and the top trim SEL Premium R-Line are currently discounted by $6000 or more. That brings the transaction price of the R-Line with optional AWD down to that of a fully loaded top trim Honda Accord and a bit less than a Camry XSE with a V6 engine, neither of which offer AWD. At $42,000, the top trim SEL Premium is only slightly more than a top trim Camry.

Now, I may represent just a small percentage of shoppers with 2 young kids in car seats, but with this in mind, the A5 can not even be considered in the conversation. The difference in rear seat leg room is a full 5 inches!! The Arteon even has a 3" advantage on the A7. The folks out there who are familiar with how massive rear facing car seats are understand.

    One thing to note is that this has the IS38 2.0t like the Golf R and S3 meaning with something like a JB4 you're near 350hp. Audi A4 and A5 only have the IS20 turbo like the GTI.

      I think it's the sweet spot. The newer VW's, notably the Mk8 Golf, are moving to capacitive-touch or touch-slider controls. I like that the infotainment and tech in this car still has volume and fan speed controls that are physical. I own a 2020 GLI, and it mostly is carry-over from the Mk7 Golf but has been re-skinned and re-arranged a bit. It's actually quite similar to what is in the Arteon - however, I actually get a steering-wheel button to turn off safety stuff since I have an older-style steering wheel.
