    I changed your pattern a bit. This is crazy but my brother has false teeth and wanted a pouch to put them in if his mouth got sore. I had made your oven mitts and thought it would work. I put a couple of tabs on to keep it closed. Works great. Thanks 😊

      Thanks Diana, we rarely edit anything out - although there was a time when two Springer spaniels found their way into the studio. We don't talk about that! We try and do things in 'real' time so you have a better idea of what's achievable (and what can potentially go wrong...), c x

It looks like a quick project and I'd like to make them to send to my granddaughter for Valentines Day and her St. Patty's Day birthday using theme fabric. I have a question about the batting. Would it be alright to use Insul-Brite in place of the batting you used? Also, if I use Insul-Brite should I also use a layer of batting?

      @@9159bsbs I'm sure mine's a Hemline one. Looking at the cheaper versions on Amazon UK they look very similar so I can't see why they wouldn't work. I haven't done a demo, mainly because I had a nasty accident with a double oven glove and a pyrex dish of parsnips so I no longer use them! There is a demo for re-covering single gloves though if that's of any interest? c x

    Did anyone else's printed template have the horizontal line print off-centre to the rest of the mitt pattern? How to fix this? I printed "fit to page" as well as "actual size" and both were off.

    I made my first one, following directions and it came out beautiful, except that it is too small. I checked the template again, looking at how close your drawn curves are to the edge of your paper vs. mine, and they seem identical. The only thing I can figure is that your template paper is larger than my US standard 8.5 x 11 paper. Is that true?

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Cynthia, yes that could be the reason, our A4 is about 8.5 x 12 so your printer might be shrinking it down by about 7%. Your best bet is to cut the template out and then draw around it onto a new piece of paper, adding another 3/4" to the perimeter but leaving the horizontal line across the middle in the same place. Hope this helps and you can always give your too small one to a child that likes baking! c x

      Are you printing in the US? Our templates are A4 pdfs so maybe your printer tried to adjust it to fit 8" x 10". See if you can change your settings to 100% instead of 'fit to page' that might help, c x

      Maybe not but I use them and they're fine for taking trays out of the domestic oven, holding hot pots etc. If you're planning on holding things for longer maybe put another layer in or use a thicker wadding? c x

      I followed the exact same method but I added wadding to the two separate halves. That’s the same as adding another layer of wadding to the back. Works fine for 220 degress Celsius
