  • In this episode John Hilton and Kerry discuss principles this block of scripture teaches us that will help us bring others to God through Christ, whether they are already members of the Church or not. They look at principles that help spread the Gospel, or help spread the Gospel inside of us and our loved ones, whatever their current spiritual state.
    We are grateful for our sponsors, who make the podcast possible. We are also grateful for our producer, BJ Muhlestein, and for Rich Nicholls, who composed and plays the music for the podcast.

    Thank you for this discussion. It helped me to make a connection that I hadn't done previously.
    I suspect Ammon has confidence because of verses 10-12 in chapter 17. He knows that whatever happens, all will be well. I've thought that because when I decided to serve in the military I prayed much to know if I should. The Spirit was guiding me in that direction, but I needed direct confirmation - which I received. I faced many trials, but did so with confidence. That confidence was because I knew that whatever happened, the Lord was with me. I was the only openly active member that my comrads knew (in the case of one, the first positive example).
    For the first time, I have made the connection between the confidence I had with Ammon (and his brethern/brothers). #gratefulforTSAR

    "You will come to know, as you go" thanks John and Kerry, many gems to ponder. Consecrating our sins made me think of Paul's thorn in the flesh that he prayed to have removed 3 times....then told His grace was sufficient...a.k.a...you will continue in the ministry with "that thorn"... interesting and thought provoking. Kia ora

      Kia Ora indeed! Some of my closest friends when I lived in Hawaii were Maoris from New Zealand. I miss hearing them say Kia Ora!
      I am glad you found things to ponder, it was that way for me too. And your summary has been thought provoking for me too. Thank you!

    Such a good episode! I love the idea of I Go, for I Know and I Know, for I Go. That's powerful! And I definitely want to put it on a T-shirt, one on the front, the other on the back.

    Great insights and info. We can definitely apply the teachings and examples of the BoM. I’m loving your book on Understanding Isaiah. I’m learning so much. It was lovely to meet John Hilton in Atlanta in his sons mission Macedonia ward. I need to get the Book. Voices of the BoM. You both are so informative

    Another remarkable episode! I was blessed to hear you speak at Ensign College two weeks ago and encourage everyone to listen.
    I appreciated the discussion about how Aaron might have taken some counsel from Ammon and his approach with Lamoni. On the other hand, I know from personal experience as a past early morning seminary teacher, that when one of the teacher's had a successful class by using a specific approach to a lesson, if another teacher tried to replicate the lesson doing the same thing it was always a failure. It was clear to us that we were prompted for the students we were teaching and it wasn't necessarily going to work with a different set of students.
    Thank you for such an instructive discussion with Brother Hilton...and please come back to Ensign College anytime.

      You are so right! I think the service approach worked for Aaron when and where it was supposed to work for Aaron. The Lord does His own thing in His own way at His own timing, but if we are willing to listen and learn, He will bless us in the effort!
      I hope to come back to Ensign anytime you will have me.

    I have wondered for years why Ammon was "the chief among them" (Alma 17:18) when Aaron appeared to be the eldest. The thought came to me this morning that it might be that the tradition Nephi started by appointing his brother to be a priest to the people continued in the line of kings, and that Ammon was the one thus appointed.

    • @TheScripturesAreReal
      @TheScripturesAreReal  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That really could be it. There are so many examples of it not being the oldest who God chooses that it is hard to know what to think of it. Nephi may have been making that same point. Good thought.

    According to the bible, Romans 12:1 giving yourself to the Lord to become a living sacrifice. Weare to present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy. well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service. We are consecrated to enjoy the perfect love of the triune God. One God not many gods.
