      Link is able to drink booze. Link has to be at least 25 years old because of one main reason. Mattison Hudson’s daughter. First of we don’t even see her in breath of the wild so we can assume she was born around a year later. Second in the time of tears of the kingdom she’s said to be 7 years olds so at least 8 years have passed making Link 25 so he’s very eligible to drink booze😊

      Personally I think tears of the kingdom isn't that great I think it's good don't get me wrong but if you list all the major story beats it's the same.
      Wake up on the great plateau
      Wake up on the great sky Islands
      Meet an old dead king of Hyrule
      Meet an old dead king of Hyrule
      After collecting the four abilities from the four shrines he tells you to to kakariko village.
      After collecting the four abilities from the four shrines he tells you to to lookout landing.
      You meet an old shika woman. she tells you to go solve the problems of the four other kingdoms.
      You meet an old shika woman. she tells you to go solve the problems of the four other kingdoms.
      Afterwards you're told of a fifth dungeon.
      Afterwards you're told of a fifth dungeon.
      And after beating all the dungeons you go fight Gannon after you beat him once transforms into a giant monster that you take down with the help of Zelda.
      And after beating all the dungeons you go fight Gannon after you beat him once transforms into a giant monster that you take down with the help of Zelda.
      I still like the game it just doesn't different. Feels to similar with the ancient technology from a race long gone.

    With the Mipha statue, I always saw it being central in the Domain as being a sign of the Zora refusing to move on because Mipha’s loss was so prevalent in their memory. Now that Mipha’s spirit has been appeased and her loss revenged, they can move on. So why not honor the two who did that and move Mipha to where she is the source of the Zora’s water? They don’t have to dwell on her loss anymore, let where she is being a place of peace and renewal.

    1:00:20 actually, if you talk with Zelda during the prologue she mentions that King Rhoam actually forbid her from going under the castle, presumably implying that he was aware of Ganondorf or at least of something evil being located down there. In fact, we can learn a lot from the things she mentions during the opening.

    • @ragonhill
      @ragonhill ปีที่แล้ว +114

      she says that her father, king Rhoam forbid her because it was a rule that no one could break including him or any other royal member, not even king Rhoam himself knew what was under the castle, but since it was a rule passed down through countless generations, he simply followed said rule without questioning the why, the only reason Zelda went down there with link is because she noticed that the origin of the gloom was under the castle itself.

    A few things I noticed relating to some of the lore bits:
    1. In Ganondorf’s character log (unlocked after beating the game) it acknowledges that the castle was used to imprison him, but not only that, but the Great Calamity weakened the castle’s foundations, which in turn weakened the seal and let Ganondorf break free.
    2. In Yona’s character log, it says that she came from another domain which confirms there are civilized lands beyond Hyrule that even have similar races. I’m hoping that gets explored in the next game

    Something I loved because I decided to do a replay of the beginning of the game, is that the first construct who gives you the Purah pad tells you that Zelda is waiting at the Temple of Time for you. And before you complete the Great Sky Island questline, the light dragon does loops in front of the platform she transformed on - she's literally waiting for you. Once you finish the quest and the cloud barrier breaks, she starts her loops around Hyrule.

    Number 70 is pretty simple, the sun is in a deferent position due to the changing of seasons, in TotK you can start finding pinecones so it is probably taking place in early autumn or so, as opposed to BotW where it takes place in maybe spring or summer? If you played BotW with the DLC, you may remember the fifth Divine Beast buried under the Shrine of Resurrection, which never had a name. I believe that if the Divine Beasts really do get their names from the sages in TotK, then there must only be one option for BotW’s fifth beast. Divine Beast Vah Mineru.

    • @jessieferguson4054
      @jessieferguson4054 ปีที่แล้ว +46

      I do see this as a viable conclusion to draw, yet all 4 Devine beasts are named for specifically oot sages. Considering the location as so near the temple of time, I would guess va raru, or va saria 🤔

    • @xinpingdonohoe3978
      @xinpingdonohoe3978 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @@jessieferguson4054 you seem to be forgetting that Vah Medoh is named for Medli, from The Wind Waker. The Sages of the Zonai era definitely share a connection with the Divine Beasts (looking at the helmets and so on), but we know from Urbosa that Vah Naboris was named after Nabooru. Could it not be the case that the world leaders took on new names when they became Sages (so the Sage of Fire takes on the name Rudania in honour of Darunia) and then Vah Rudania was named after him, making it a chain leading back to the OoT/WW Sages? Rauru may have adopted the name when he came to interact with the Hylians, to suggest to them what sort of an entity he is by mirroring the historical figure. Unlike the others, he's a different species to his namesake so he didn't feel the need to alter the name slightly.
      So given now that the Divine Beasts may be named after the Sages of the Zonai era, who are named after Sages from the OoT/WW era, it makes more sense to me that Maz Koshia's Divine Beast would be Vah Rauru.

    • @jessieferguson4054
      @jessieferguson4054 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xinpingdonohoe3978 your right about ww, and darunia I think is majora's mask too now that I think about it. Rauru must share a certain connection to oot rauru though, as he, in oot, is both light sage and an owl, and has the title lord of owls in totk. At this point I think botw, hyrule warriors, and totk, are the result of a timeline merger caused by (spoiler warning!) zelda's time travel in totk. It's possible that zelda might even have jumped realities to an alternate hyrule. The map layout is loosely based on NES zelda. Zelda even calls link "hero of hyrule" in botw (a title for the NES link). The scene of Gannon pledging loyalty to king rauru mirrors the oot scene, yet in totk, gannon doesn't dramatically look out the window to young oot zelda (perhaps zelda's appearance in the past influenced the birth of oot zelda? What if the king and queen were destined to get it on and make a zelda, but were distracted by company?). As interesting as this might be though, if we were to take rauru at his word as the founder of hyrule, then it would place these events muuuuuuuch earlier than NES zelda. In the Nes version of zelda 2, it mentioned that the first zelda was put into a deep sleep hundreds of years before Nes zelda 1. That would mean totk's time travel would have taken zelda back to between skyward sword and Nes zelda. This doesn't work though. The physiology of the geirudo doesn't match up. Pointy ears are a hylain trait. The geirudo we see in past and present totk have green eyes and pointy ears. Gannon totk and oot have round ears and yellow eyes as well as the oot geirudo. This means the Gannon and the geirudo in totk are the decents of Gannon oot. Hylians interbreeding with geirudo would explain the change in ears and eyes. Thus the switch trilogy must take place in an alternate timeline long after the events of spirit tracks and phantom hourglass.

    • @xinpingdonohoe3978
      @xinpingdonohoe3978 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@jessieferguson4054 you are correct about the Gerudo; it's actually the Gerudo from the memories that proves Rauru didn't found the *first* Hyrule. The common Gerudo vai have pointed ears and green eyes way back in the Zonai era. The Gerudo gaining these traits is because of generations of breeding with Hylian men - there's only one Gerudo male per century, and both are human races (descended from Skyloftians). It's a noted evolution that famously occured *after* OoT. It's probably the case that every part of TotK and BotW happens long after any other games. Which timeline isn't clear, but doesn't need to be. Hyrule Warriors, a probably Child Timeline game, ended up connecting with the Adult Timeline (makes sense, since they are parallel unlike the Downfall Timeline). Something there probably messed everything up. Maybe even Cadence of Hyrule shares some blame; that had characters time travelling, like a bunch of other games. Everything could just be collapsing a bit from all the time manipulation.
      I suppose the references (Ganondorf bowing in fealty to the king, Koume and Kotake being his retainers) could be history repeating itself, maybe due to the repeating spirit of Demise.
      Zelda's time travel is weird. We know timeline splits can still happen, since Terrako split the BotW timeline. From the BotW timeline he sucked the Champion successors, and back there he sent them after his new timeline's problems were solved. Rauru claims that Zelda's timeline didn't have a Zelda appear in the past, but that seems to be wrong. The mural of the Light Dragon's birth was already there, so he must have been wrong about his claim.
      I'm not sure. It's all very odd, but it does give us a lot to think about.

  • @AlaiaSkyhawk
    @AlaiaSkyhawk ปีที่แล้ว +182

    Here's a bit of Gannondorf stuff for you.
    When you go to fight him, he's sat on a platform made of what looks like gloom-tainted roots, with the gloom in it visibly pulsing upwards towards where he is sat atop it. Out in the Depths on the floor you'll occassionally find these gloom-tainted roots which will sap your hearts just like gloom itself does if you touch them. While I've probably not found all of them by a long-shot, every one of them that I have encountered share a neat little thing.
    If you check the orientation of them, they point back towards Hyrule Castle where Gannondorf is. The Gloom, which saps the life energy of everything that touches it, the roots radiating outwards from the platform on which he sits which is visibly feeding something to him, it's like the roots are feeding it all back to him. That's how he's regaining his strength, by using the life sapped from the people and creatures of Hyrule.
    It would also go in part to explain why Rauru and the Ancient Sages had such a problem fighting him. They were fighting someone who could sap their strength (and the strength of anyone else in Hyrule at that time who had also come into contact with Gloom) to become his own. Only the powered-up Master Sword could render that ability moot by simply overwhelming whatever pace of recovery that ability gave him :)
    Edited to add the location of one of them: If you go to the Nogukoyk Lightroot north of the Great Abandoned Central Mine, head west on the same floor level as the Lightroot. Right against the cliffwall directly north of the e/o in "Grove of the Spirits" on the map, you will find one of the roots. Line yourself up with the length of it and open your map, and you'll see you're facing in the exact direction of Hyrule Castle :D

This could be the reason for the civil/unification war that precedes Ocarina of Time. The other thing to note would be that SS Hyrule would have to have been located elsewhere since Rauru's Hyrule is originally on the plateau but moves to where it currently is once the imprisoning war (specifically of ToTK, not of BoTW) is over.

      @@nicodalusong149 there is a slight chronological issue with that though, and it's to do with the Gerudo. It isn't clear which Skyloftians' descendants evolved into the Gerudo, but at some point it happened. All Humans lived in Skyloft, so that includes the pre-Gerudo.
      The first Gerudo had round ears, and this carried over into OoT. It wasn't until after this event that you would slowly see the evolution of pointed-ear Gerudo.

Because in current times, the Molduga are considered ‘monsters’, their parts ruin dishes, they poof into malice/gloom when they die, and yet they existed before Ganondorf was even the Demon King. It could imply that they’re monsters made from the mere presence of Demise’s curse, but I think it’s a lot more interesting to say that Molduga are ancient creatures completely unrelated to monsters, but Ganondorf ‘recreated them’, loyal Molduga *copies* made of his power. It’s also interesting that they’re one of the only monsters to stay the same between both games, but idk what the implication there is.

      Hm, this could also explain why the light energy aura Rauru has is more green, while the Shiekha energy source is blue.
      Rauru having the power to *purify* with his light, and the 3rd eye (of enlightenment) symbolism could be interpreted as the zonai energy being spirit based, as previously theorized (luminous stones = crystalized spirit energy, the green glow matches the spirits of King Rhoam & champions).
      Whereas the sheikha, who have a history in a darker type of magic, probably have their energy based on unpure spirits.
      Could recontextualize the Shiekha tearing eye symbol with the new zonai lore. We now know zonai came first, we see the eye motif in zonai art but it's based on their 3rd eye.
      If the sheikha tried to recreate zonai tech, meaning they need to recreate zonai energy, and zonai energy is based on purified spirit energy, but the Shiekha lack the power of purification, they use the next best thing, Poe's (who's spirit hasn't passed on), their take on the eye symbolism can be read as their tribe being mournful, or regretful, of having to master a dark magic for a good cause?

    Regarding the Triforce: it's missing from BotW and TotK because in past games, it was usually attempted to be used by Ganon or some other force. It splits into the three parts and goes into Ganondorf, Zelda, and Link. Ganondorf never tried to take the Triforce, either in the past or in the game timeline itself, which is why it's missing. It's still intact in the Light Realm.
    As for the first king and queen, I don' think this is a rewrite of how Hyrule was formed as in with Skyward Sword - this is likely a 'New' Hyrule, reformed tens of thousands of years after the older games. People seem to not fathom how long 10,000 years is - kingdoms can rise and fall many times over in that time. That makes me think that the Forgotten Temple is where Hyrule was founded at the end of Skyward Sword, and the Great Plateau was where OoT took place. The current Hyrule Castle is in the middle, which is where Hyrule was refounded however long after Rauru and Sonia became the first king and queen, to seal Ganondorf. Every game before now likely took place many tens of thousands of years in the past.

    5:25 It's actually really interesting that you point this out. When I first started playing this gane, I really took my time on the Great Sky Island, trying to find any and every little tidbit of information I could, which included finding every place where Rauru's spirit would appear to talk to you. On the island with the pond that hovers above the lake to the East of the Temple of Time, Rauru will remark on it, saying "A sea of clouds... We must be at quite an altitude. There is no doubt that this is the Temple of Time. Which means we must be in the Garden of Time. But I remember it being on the surface. What has happened in the ages since?"
    When i first found this, it was huge to me, but more importantly for the topic on hand: Rauru simply didn't know. The islands were raised by the sages after his sacrifice, and by the current age, very little of the original sages' consciousness remain to even comnunicate their mission to their successors, let alone explain how or why the sky islands are in the form they are now. The only surviving person who knows what happened is Mineru, and since you don't encounter her until much later in the game, it almost feels more rewarding to find out in an obscure, simple way by completing the ceremony, same with completing the Messages from an Ancient Era side adventure.

    I get that a lot of fans have problems with the water temple (like that’s never happened before), but I actually enjoyed it. It was the first temple I did, so that may be part of why I liked it. I also saw the temples as more than what the map considers to be the temple. For me, the water temple starts as soon as you ascend the waterfall, and Sidon ditches you to explore on his own. My only real “problem” with the water temple was not knowing how to make the water wheels turn at first. But I think that was just because it was my first of the major dungeons, and I didn’t understand properly how Sidon’s ability worked.
    And the Zelink theory at the end? I mean, Zelink has always been headcanon for me. Every iteration of Zelda and Link have eventually gotten together in my mind. I’m just glad it’s finally (mostly) actual canon now.

      Was way better than the Wind and fuck the Fire one was meh. Have yet to go the Gerudo... Seems enemies are getting harder with each 3 of the 4 sages I've gotten, so I've been just, combing the map from the very top left to the very top right, though I fucking hate shrines, so I just get to them for the fast travel so I can go back to them after a while. 8 hearts and 2 bars of stamina, and every amiibo card, so I get around easy enough lol... Maybe I should do those shrines so I can get more hearts they're just never any fun and more like Zelda Tears Solid: VR Missions than it feels like the game... Hated the shrines in BotW but they were better than these, and I hated the portals in Immortals Fenyx Rising which might as well be Assassin's Creed: Breath of the Wild and the first BotW esque game I ever played.

    The thing about draconification being reversible is that I think Zelda was a special case
    It's seen in the molduga memory that secret stone holders can amplify each other's powers, and this seems to be the case in the ending. Link may not physically have a secret stone, but Recall is a power born of one, and everything around him went to its original state, without actually reversing time, so I think Sonia and Rauru just amplified Link's recall to be able to bring Zelda back

      my theory:
      every single game is in its own universe, it starts with skyward sword (for the games that have skyward sword easter eggs in them, wind waker for example wouldnt have skyward sword, nor the rest of the titles that dont feauture a spirit in the sword)
      so heres my idea:
      MULTIVERSUS
      every multiverse has its own link, zelda, ganon/bad guy
      wind waker and the likes are an entirely different world bc the whole "flooding" thing completely destroys all other lore perspectives
      so yes the timeline thing still happens, but wind waker ends its own line, the third line also ends, because its the older games, so that leads to the middle line is what makes totk
      or whatever line has the twilight princess line im currently remembering the lines from memory
      and then:
      everything burns. everythings chaos.
      then for a few years, the cannibalistic tribes of faron rebuild their weak society
      and then as rhing are going good,
      a group of god-like beings descend from the heavens,
      blessing the land and the people,
      new tribes from surrounding areas decide to help out,
      and we get:
      botw's hyrule, ruled by the zonai and the hyruleans together,
      yes theres are a few plotholes like "the rito came from wind waker how did they get here?"
      and the majoras mask etc etc
      dimension travelers.
      id say a group of ritos traveled to the chaotic world, everyone moved around, bc remember in wind waker the zora tribe died out,
      migration. tribes migrated from other dimensions to live here. because their world ended. people similar to the happy mask salesman, who could traverse the worlds
      (im relly proud of my theory it's probably not canon but its an interesting idea lolol)

    1:04:52 My theory is that it was Link using recall to reverse the draconification. He didn't use it on Zelda but on the stone she consumed. Sonia said that it was like using the objects memory to bring it back to its original place in time. So Link used recall on the stone, bringing it out of Zelda's body. He was able to do this with the amplified power of Rauru and Sonia helping him at the end. Hence why when Zelda came back into her human form, the stone was back on her necklace where it was before she consumed it.

      @@sackthebastardrandomly came up with a theory after watching this video and reading some comments...
      Since the Tri-force isn't really brought up in these games, we assume it's essentially forgotten to this eras people.
      We know Rauru and Sonia had at least one offspring, because Zelda is a descendent, literally living proof.
      So what if at some point in the past, the Zonai did in fact possess the Tri-force* but had to split it in 3, one piece for each of those 3 zonai tribes.
      What if at some point the leaders of those tribes, to protect their triforce (either from themselves or outside forces, like a demise incarnation) underwent dragonification, the way Zelda did it to protect the master sword for Link?.
      They're immortal dragons, they share names with Farore, Naydra, and Din, the goddesses who were said to have left behind the triforce after creating the world.
      If the 3 goddesses were zonai, and they had descendents who would later inherit the triforce, and they became dragons at some point, enough time could pass where the Tri-force is mostly forgotten. Could explain its absence in verbal references in these two games, but it's clearly a big part of the series since the symbol is still everywhere.
      I don't mind that they take a break from the Tri-force, but this would be a cool way to explain it's absence, and I'd they ever want to bring it back within this current continuity, we get more cool dragon stuff!!!
      *Also, I wonder if the Secret Stones are somehow related to the Tri-force itself. We've seen older games break even a single piece of the triforce up into shards or whatever. What if the Secret Stones are just an ounce of the Tri-force power. That could be why it amplifies the power already within the wielder.

    Can we please talk about why the Bargainers are ridiculously JACKED AF?! Those guys can bench-press moons.
    Also, my favorite tidbit of lore in Tears of the Kingdom has to be the somewhat conformation that the Forgotten Temple is, in a sense, the Sacred Grounds from Skyward Sword. When you visit the Mother Goddess Statue, she is obviously toppled over. However, if you sacrifice 3 Elemental Dragon scales to the corresponding Springs and then return to the Mother Goddess Statue, not only would you find that the Mother Goddess Statue has been restored, but you are also rewarded with the White Sword of the Sky, which was previously accessible via Skyward Sword Link amiibo.
    EDIT: Another cool detail is that if the White Sword of the Sky breaks in TotK, you can reclaim it by sacrificing Dinraal, Naydra, and Farore's claws to the Mother Goddess Statue. However it only works if it breaks.

She pulled some neat tricks in AoC, so there's nothing to say that her counterpart here didn't download all the tech into safe storage to keep it away from those who'd misuse it, and it's safe from the Gloom that would just re-infect it. The few exceptions are the Sheikah towers (now Skyview Towers), their pedestals, guardian legs, and a lone rusty Guardian strapped to the top of Purah's lab in Hateno, probably as a prized relic she got permission to display. It would explain easily how it all disappeared so quickly, when all she had to do was touch her screen and they'd download into a pattern buffer (think Star Trek here), just put into safe storage instead of transportation.

I assume everything just got sealed away and the Purah Pad is a copy of the Sheikah Slate and removed any ability to control said tech ever again hence the loss of the rune abilities.

    One of my favorite details has to do with the Emeritter Zonai devices and how the three dragon-shaped ones actually resemble the dragon spirits of their element! Frost Emitters have horns that point back like Naydra's, The Flame Emitter has two horns like Dinraal, and the Shock Emitter has one horn that juts out like Farosh. That leaves the Beam Emitter, which, instead of looking like one of the dragon spirits, instead looks exactly like the Master Cycle Zero, which has rather odd implications unless you chalk it up to an admittedly cool-looking reference.

    i‘m not sure whether that‘s also the case in english, but in the german translation, if you‘re taking a picture of the goddess statues for the stable picture quest, the little red tag will say „Goddess of Time/Wisdom/Power/Courage“ depending on the statue. That‘s interesting since they are all supposed to be Hylia, right?
    The statues in the springs also call the big one in the Forgotten Temple „the (statue of the) mother goddess“. So yeah, i think there is a lot of headcanons to be found there.

Imagine a fisherman offering to take you to the tropical domain, there’s a leading screen, and then you get a checkpoint for a little added exploitable area in the necluda sea. Maybe a island or underwater kingdom (under water exploration armor?!!!) and Zoe’s lore, maybe the two domains can hint at the hostile rover Zoraida from older games causing the break off

I think the caves corrupted them somehow twisting them into bubbulfrogs, and the Lord shows you the caves because he wants you to release the blupee from their new unholy bodies. The names of the Lord and bubbulfrog in Japanese also sort of supports this. Just something I thought about.

    Another explanation for the game's contradictory lore is that it is not the same Hyrule as the other games, but the game takes so inconceivably far in the future that this is a separate Hyrule, after the fall of the one from the previous games. I believe Demise's curse encapsulates more than simply his hatred, the spirit of the hero, and the blood of the goddess - the entire world is a part of his cycle, similar to the linking of the flame from dark souls. Recurring elements and characters from the series such as Impa help this idea, and I believe the ancient past of totk is simply the world going back to the start of the cycle, and is why another character named Rauru founded Hyrule. The new temple of time could be this cycle's temple where Hyrule first founded, and the one on the great plateau could be the one from the original games.

    • @mrbiscuits001
      @mrbiscuits001 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Another thing that I think about Demises curse is that he dooms the incarnations of his hate to lose time and time again. Pictures demises last moments through his perspective. He knows he’s about to be completely dead and he’s boiling with hatred. What good is victory if you yourself won’t be able to experience it? He dooms his hate to lose in a last act of hatred to ensure that it is constantly reborn to go to war again. More war means more death and suffering, which is all that matters to demise. He doesn’t want to win, he wants to doom the world to a constant history of bloodshed. The curse itself is a victory for demise.

    I think plausible deniability is key when it comes to romantic relationships in totk. They put all the signs in place for people who want to believe ZeLink is canon but you're perfectly free to not see it if you choose to. Same with Sidon, they know people ship him with Link but they married him off, so technically he's off limits, right? By sheer coincidence they also gave him an arranged marriage, a statue with his buddy riding him and have even his wife acknowledge that he babbles on about Link nonstop. It's there if you want to see it. It's not if you don't.
