I think your analysis is spot on as to why Tears of the Kingdom didn't reach the same recognition as Breath of the Wild did. However I think the biggest reason was the competition last year Baldur's Gate 3 was revolutionary in the same manner Breath of the Wild was back in 2017, it gave the somewhat niche genre of CRPGs (or western rpgs) the funding of a AAA game and really brought out the full potential of the genre. I think BG3 also benefited of the rising popularity of Dungeons and Dragons in recent years which made it more appetizing for more casual audiences.
Yes, that was certainly a very important and decisive factor. The major risk for ToTk was the possibility of a competitor being on par with it, which could've placed ToTk at a disadvantage since the competitor would be a new game, not a sequel.
