- The AMX-13 Hot is a French Light tank that's been retrofitted with 6 Hot Missiles but it's still on a vehicle that used to be 6.0 in Battle Rating!
That's right, a tank that has a cannon found as low as 5.0 BR is ALL the way up at 8.0! Why, do you ask??? Well... it's because it's French of course! :)
Yesterday I played the Object 122MT which is a T-55A that's basically better in every way and has 4 missiles that are mouse guided on the turret. It sits at a BR of 8.3 meanwhile... this poor little dude is at 8.0 and will fight against the 122MT in almost every battle!
Another really cool French vehicle lost to the compression of War Thunder! Anyway, today we play it! :)

Hey Odd the 6.7 lineup for America is very packed with heavy hitters and light tanks but they don’t have the greatest armor what’s your opinion on 6.7 tanks in general?

BTW Odd, there’s also the Strv 81 (RB 52), a Swedish premium with ATGMs. It’s a variant Cent. Mk.3 with a couple of RB 53 missiles strapped to the turret.
The missiles aren’t very good, you can’t even engage targets within ~80 meters because of the launch angle, and I believe you can ammo rack the thing by shooting the missiles, so honestly the regular Strv 81 might be better, but it exists.
It’s a 7.3 Swedish premium, though I believe Britain may also have access to it.

And dont forget the Strv 81 (RB 53). It's basically a centurion tank with 3 ATGM's and it's both on the British and Swedish tech tree!

I play the pt57 in sim, its the only stabilised laser range finder tank. Fighting ww2 vehicles. With sim your tank fires from the sight not the barrel like grb. What does having a laser do and fcs do? It means your round will land where you lase, even at close range, so you can hit barrels eith pinpoint accuracy
Play that thing in sim, its at a rotation where its the only thing with apfsds and s lrf
With the HOT missiles having no reloads, as well as the lack of any other upgrades, the size of the jump in BR is inexplicable. There are too many vehicles out there with similar or lower BR that are dramatically better equipped.
The poor French just keep getting Gaijin’d. I think they haven’t gotten over Napoleon’s invasion to be honest.

The jump isn't inexplicable, 7.7 is probably the lowest it could even go, it's basically an ATGM carrier that has a 75mm gun, hence why it sits around the same BR as the UDES, USH, M113A1, R3 T106, Swingfire, Sheridan and M60A2, also I am not even saying its a good vehicle, but it does fit with other vehicles at 7.7 - 8.0, especially when you consider the HOT missiles are one of the best missiles at this BR. Gaijin should have never added this vehicle in all honesty, should have just added the Mephisto, either that or allowed it to reload.

@@AlexVanChezlaw at 7.3 its miles better, but at 8.0 it would be meh, but I agree neither the BMP1 or Chinese BMP (has a tandem ATGM at 7.3 wtf) should be at 7.3, but non western bias does exist, until recently the BMP-2M was still 8.3, but to your point, basically all ATGM carriers are pretty meh, doesn't mean they should all be lowered so that they can face late WW2 tanks, Gaijin seems to have a clear line for ATGMs carriers at 7.7+.

If odd enjoys this he should make a video on the amx 13 ss.11, a regular amx13 but with the capability to handle russian 7.0 heavies at close and long range. Plus it's at 6.7, and is much better than the zachlam tiger.
I don't blame you for forgetting about the AMX-13 Hot. It's very forgettable at its BR. Although getting kills with it is really fun!

I think you should think of it as an ATGM carrier that has a gun, rather than a lighttank that has ATGMs.
Or a paperback that carries many soft, oven warm baguettes, and explodes if a wind blows it over

Seems like the only reason it's 8.0 is to protect delicate German mains who never go past 7.0 from seeing ATGMs too often

For real they make the AMX-13 SS.11 a premium when it was used in combat and produced by the hundreds while making a Prototype 8.0 and in the tech tree this is why i hate this game for making France one of the worst tech tree when it should be one of the best.

ATGMs aren't mouse aimed, they are movement aimed, which is why he compares it to the Chinese squadron tank, because it also has missiles guided by aiming, not movement key.

8.0 exists so that gaijin can nerf Italian, Japanese, British and French vehicles by putting them at 8.7 without people being pissed at them
Have a 8.0 line up? Guess what, 80% of the time you’ll be at 8.7, 10% at 8.0 and 10% at 7.7
I’ve never got 7.3 or 7.0 and a few times I’ve got 9.0
8.0 literally doesn’t exist, and the vehicles in the 4 tech trees I mentioned that have a vehicle at 8.0 need to have it dropped to 7.7 or raised to 8.3

Personally I really loved the AMX 13 HOT, you need to be more conservative with your missiles, don't forget your 75 is autoloaded I saw a number of times where you could've saved a missile by waiting for the 75

The AMX-13 (S.S.11) is arguably better.
Sure you get 2 less ATGMs and they are manually guided as opposed to mouse aim, but they pack a punch, and its at 6.7 so the gun is still relevant too. One of my favorite premium tanks.
Tell ya what, Bawz... A hammer is a pretty dumb tool. Its just a lump of iron with a wooden handle. But in the hands of the right person, that same dumb tool can yield unimaginable results. I have to say that the 1st encounter here today at 3:05 was nothing short of that. Pure skill. Hammer on, buddy! Well played!

Like a host of other vehicles pumped up in BR due to new(ish) mechanics and power creep (at the time they were introduced) that now languish at said BR. Because the snail rarely makes comprehensive balance passes to fix issues just like this.

Swedish Centurion - Strv 81 (RB 52) - has an 84 mm cannon with two plane stabilizer and APDS rounds. It also has 3 ATGMs.... at 7.3 BR

Odd, it's even better. It's a 4.0 tank (amx-13), with a 5.0 turret (the preemy sherman gets the same gun) - and HOTs. At 8.0.
Gaijin: 4.0 + 5.0 = 9.0. Guess it's time for some _BALANCE_

Now you have to play the Strv 81 RB 52 next! Although it’s missiles are pretty terrible.
Man I already know how this will be Amx-13 is very hard to play and master. So it will be 70% pain and 30% fun.
the 6.7 one is absolute gold ! fast insane good gun, small, autoloader, smokes but 9k repair costs hurt bad, ususaly i use the FL 11 one at 4.0same thing (exept autoloader) lower br, way lower repair cost, fun !

Odd you forget that it use to be 9.0.... but with the autoloader and missiles it can really put in work. It needs the heat round for that gun but gaijin is completely averse to fixing or revisting anything old.

Also forgot to mention the Stridsvagn 81 (RB52), a Premium Swedish variant of the Cent. Mk.3 with 3 missiles on it. It’s not as good, the missiles are hard to use, and it’s only a 7.3, but it exists. I believe Britain has access to the tank as well, but it is primarily a Swedish vehicle.

Interestingly Singapore used an APFSDS round in their upgraded 75mm armed AMX-13's (all now retired), it was supposed to be a decent round by all accounts too.

This tank is a lot more deadly than people take it for, given the right hulldown position this thing can guide its missile from behind hills and such since the guidance pod is above the turret. I myself have gotten quite a few kills sitting behind ridges and in some small ditches firing the ATGMs over them. If you ever get the abandoned town map in this thing, the ditch at C and A are great positions.
"This tank is not good" -Odd Calmly shows games with 5 kills or more. The humble brag is real.

Hay Gaijin, I have drawn a tank on a piece of paper you want to see it? it's amazing, armour is a meter thick all around, 150mm auto loader main gun reloads in 3 sec 700mm penetration, its got twin 40mm radar guided auto cannons, can drive at 90kph over rough ground gen 4 thermals, no crew in side driven remotely.
What you think can we put that in ????
