LOL! Good catch. The CTS was very good to us for FOURTEEN YEARS! Sadly it had devolved quite the laundry list of repairs that I was getting behind on, and there was a 'last straw' event recently (clogged sunroof drains anyone?) - my wife is LOVING the Encore! I'm sure some videos will come on that soon. Thanks for watching!
Wow. That is almost word-for-word the same response I got from CTEK. I suspected this was a known fault, but a standardized response confirms it. Thanks for the video!
Mine just failed after 6 months. Currently in the process of removing and taking back to the dealership for replacement. I feel your pain. Aggravating...
On my 3rd Ulti charger. Same problem dealer accommodation was great. Buy extra warranty with this! Lots of claims a known problem. Hope they eventually find the solution.
I have the 19.2 kwh Ultium Charger. I agree about the crazy lights. Seems if they were going to spend the time and money to put all those lights on it, why not just use use 3 or 4 colored LED's (as you say), or better yet a status display to show the actual charging status.
Great followup. I'm with you, it's dumb as a stump, overpriced for what you get. Of course I paid for the 19.2 kw version so I got suckered twice as much $$$. If it dies, I'm out too but I can't see replacing it until it quits.
Reminds me of a 2018 Toyota Highlander Hybrid we owned for about a year. The on board app for maintenance and service was useless. I was hoping it allow me to keep track of every scheduled maintenance item; oil, filters, tire rotations, alignment, and factory recommended services. But no. Called corporate customer service who told me, no it’s not active for anything at this time (doh!)
I did look at that, and landed on something else (video coming soon) - and then returned it! I'm now on the ChargePoint Home Flex. THIS is the charger to get IMO. The unit itself isn't flashy, but the software more then makes up for it!
Mine failed after 2 months, I have had the replacement for 10 months. Hopefully no more issues but if it happens again I will be selling the replacement.
I’m more concerned that we weren’t notified that CTS has been replaced with a Buick Encore👀😅 great video David!

@@DavidWaltermyer aw man! Glad it treated you guys well overall tho! Hope to see some Encore videos soon!
I was already on the fence, I appreciate your honesty and quality review.

Yeah, exchange wasn't bad. Got a new one in the box, then sold it. lol
I’ve found the most difficult part of being on the cutting edge of technology is trying not to fall off! LOL
I just went through this exact same problem. Thankfully it was simple to replace. Hopefully my replacement unit won’t have the same issue

Wow.
Do the same set up but through the Trusted Cadillac app. That helped me and my system.

Just bought my Lyriq and I am waiting on my install. Should I go with a different charger?
I just had mine installed and it turned on with a solid red light and it won’t go away. lol first EV too
Dave have you looked at getting an Autel EVSE they are something special and very nice and simple indeed...With LED and Touchscreens =D

$600 for the charger and a notable failure rate after 12 months ?!?! Happy with my Cadillac Lyriq after 3 months but come on GM !

This was so helpful. Thanks. Definitely won’t be buying this.
GM’s normal procedure: piss the customer off first then do it right!
