HOW TO litter train your rabbit in one week | Bunny Potty Training

  • In this video I am going to show you how to teach a rabbit to use a litter box. This is a great thing to teach when you have a house bunny that gets lots of time outside of its cage to run and play.
Use 1" of litter covered with Timothy hay. Add in some of the rabbit's poops and urine-soaked paper or hay. Place the litter box wherever the bunny seems to prefer to use, which is often a corner. When you first let her into the training area, stay in the room.
Toilet training your bunny is very easy!
This is the litterbox that I used: amzn.to/2k5mthM

can you help me? i got a one month bunny just 4 days ago. she has been pooping and peeing everywhere! she peed on my bed a couple times. she runs around the house leaving poop everywhere! i can’t seem to make her use the litter box. she does go to the litter box to eat hay and does her business. but however she still keeps on pooping none stop around the house. i went to my friends house with my bunny so she could meet my friends bunny for the first time. she didn’t poop at her place at all. except the places where she sniffed the poop and saw it too. i have a container that she can turn perfectly and doesn’t seem to bother her. can you please help? give some advice. i’ve also been looking at several videos. none helped

Eraida Basargin it’s been months since your comment but one month old is too young to train. She more than likely didn’t poop at your friends house because she smelled the other bunnies and new it wasn’t her territory.

    • @lizmarie3680

@@funkygroovysoul mature rabbits will have an easier time understanding what you are trying to train them. Generally around 3 months is a good time to start enforcing rules and teaching them! As far as spaying I believe it’s around 4-6 months but most vets prefer to spay around 6 months.

For easy cleaning I cut super absorbent puppy training pads to the shape of the litter box and just change the pad daily. I avoid the bad smell and I am also able to avoid having to pull the litter box out to completely clean it and wash it because the puppy pads don't allow the pee to soak through to the bottom of the pan. I have never had an easier time cleaning up his litter box and it's much cheaper than buying litter because I buy the large size pads and I am able to cut out 5 pads for his box from each puppy pad. Hope you guys find this helpful.

Hi, great informative video. My rabbits live outside in hutches and runs and come in for cuddles, play and to run around the house. I use open litter trays in the hutches as rabbits need to eat their wet stools to get essential nutrients they don't get when they eat their food the first time round, the dry pellets are then produced. Your idea looks great for when they come indoors!

She’s turning into the most cutest, friendliest bunny ever, as atm I’m syringe feeding her cat replacement milk, as advised by local vet.
My neighbour found her in the middle of the road, just hopping about! 😳 it took her a while to catch her but thank god she did, as I dread to think wot could of happened if left!

Since I have a larger cage which also has a room that is always open i chose a cat litter box, it took a lot of size upgrades to get to the one I'm using now but she uses it a lot more, she was really bad at it and then she starting peeing in the box, that was the most important part for me but with her new litter box has encouraged her to use it more often, she still has accidents but she's pretty new to actually use it and too young to be spayed so i think she's doing good.
Also I've heard bad things about wire litter boxes and my bunny will sometimes hang out in her litter box which also stops some poop problems

i do something similar but my bunny has is paper on top of the mesh so he’s not standing right on plastic while he goes. he still poops inside his bed and right outside the littler box, i’ll pick them up with paper towels and put them in the box but he still goes outside of it. it’s been a couple weeks, should i not put the littler on top would that help? i don’t know what to do he kinda poops every where lol he’s almost 4 months old

This is really smart cause they lo e to poop while they eat their hay mines pooping all around their food bowls but peeing in the litter box. Very good idea 💡

I've tried a very different one before watching this vid and it was the same size as her and she was small and it was very difficult for cause she kept moving the litter box and then a few months later I took it out and I also realize this about my bunny if she poops she poops in one area then she moves the hay around if we clean her cage be she is very clean and she doesn't like to sit/lay in her own poop .btw thank u for teaching me this for my bunny this was very helpful btw my bunny now knows what to do.

Great video! Thanks for posting! I bought the litter tray that u used and it is awesome. Just 2 questions. How long to u need to keep mixing some of his old litter with the new? Is it just until he knows how to use the litter? Second question, how often do u change his litter? My bunny is 3 weeks old and I'm changing it every other day. Thanks again!

Hello, great video...just wondering if your bunny was desexed before being litter trained ? My bunny teddy is 9 weeks old and I'm trying to train him,not much luck so far lol...and I've collected up all his poo and placed them on a paper towel in his litter trays...

Also what do you use for your rabbits bedding as i have been told to use hay as bedding. But if she likes to pee and poop on hay wont this confuse her?
