As flames continue to lick coastal tourist areas after ripping through the mountainous interior of Rhodes, the Greek authorities say they're dealing with the country's biggest fire evacuation ever.
Nineteen thousand people have been rescued from villages and hotels - three thousand of those picked up in boats from the beaches where two days ago they were swimming and sunbathing.
Now the fire service is warning that things could get even worse with temperatures due to climb to 45 degrees in the next few days.

the Holiday makers are making the situation worse, the fire crews have to divert resources to evacuate them/make sure they are safe, all they are doing is adding additional pressure onto the heroes trying to fight the fires and save lives.

Tourists have no business to be in that place. What were they thinking? Did they think those fires will give them a free pass? Now they're just adding to the burden of Greek authorities who have to divert resources to evacuate them instead of focusing on putting out the fires.

No one hates genuine asylum claimants. People do not like illegal economic migrants whom abuse the asylum system en masse.
Those are very different groups of people. The latter group factually, by the numbers, make up the overwhelming bulk of asylum claims. That's what people don't like.
By the numbers, if only genuine asylum claimants came to the UK, the UK would have seen just 5850 people make unannounced irregular border crossings in 2022. That's a number the UK could easily absorb and process in a year.
Instead an additional 39000 economic migrants turned up, crossed the border without a visa to do so and made an asylum claim they knew they were not entitled to.
InB4 you say something silly, leave to stay is not the same as a successful asylum application with refugee status granted. If you look down further from the big figure you'll see it's break down where only 13% of those granted leave to stay are found to be genuine asylum claims. The bulk of the rest are granted leave to stay under a ECHR rule which requires countries to grant illegal economic migrants leave to stay if they can demonstrate they now have a connection to the community (how, job, friends, community work, kids in school, etc). It's a rule that is rampantly being exploited, mostly from south Asian countries like Pakistan and East European countries like Albania.

Easyjet is operating as normal but says that customers 'can' cancel their tourist holiday flights to a country on fire, okay... Quite irresponsible of them, making way more work for the people of Greece who then have to help save and accommodate all these masses of tourists as well as their own people, feed them, etc. Just not okay. Easyjet should not be doing that, they should be cancelling them, or somehow have to pay the Greek government for purposely sending masses of expensive liabilities their way.

When a wildfire of this scale is going, it's weather driven.
There's things fire crews can do on a micro scale, but essentially it will do what the wind, aspect, slope and fuel predict. On the scale of this, all you can do is manage evacuation of the people. Unless you have a LOT, a LOT, of water, you'll hardly make a dent. even then it's damage mitigation.

It was so much of a serious issue up until the moment that fire reach the resort, and all the tourist start scrambling, and that’s when the media and the government start putting a little bit more effort into containing the fire, Which is just asinine and the scary part is those Taurus and a resident of that island aren’t going to go back home and push the politician to do what needs to be done to save the planet because for one of them this is just one scary event for them and they don’t think that it’s going to continue and in the Foreseeable future

What has this to do with climate change ? First poor management of farmland. There have never been so many trees, especially white pines on the island. That would never have happened 100 years ago when most of the land would have been grassed by sheep and goats.
Second . We have hot air coming from Africa's Sahara region where we now have the hottest time of the year. So yes it gets hot and dry. What has that got to do with CO2.
And if we think CO2 really is the problem than why do we allow people to travel ? Don't all those planes produce CO2 ? Wasn't the world a better place when we were all locked up in our home because of a virus ?
And how would we call the much colder than normal temperatures in Britain ? Global Cooling ?
Also remember we have a much more active Sun this year and the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai Submarine Volcano event where 150-million metric tons or almost 40 Trillion gallons of water was injected into the stratosphere. Water vapor is a very potent greenhouse gas. And we have an El Nino year.
