I went to that show 1979 Nassau Coliseum to see the Dynasty Tour and i was 9 years old. Dad took me and my 8 year old sister. Super cool to see this interview before the show...
Good job retrieving this one and yes I do remember it what a difference a couple of years makes during the dynasty tour they were on tv almost every week promoting the brand ticket sales were slowing down and it was the beginning of the end of the Original band’s Glory Days
Took over the show and became a star well that certainly some people's opinion. Other people might say here we go Ace frehley being drunk acting goofy again.
I've seen the whole interview. It must have drove Gene and Paul nuts that Ace during this tour and Unmasked. He found his voice in interviews. And started making the interviews fun. Not the typical Gene and Paul interview.
This was after the Tom Schneider interview. Gene and Paul were placed purposely next to Billy and Ace and Peter were placed away from Billy. And Gene saying "Ace this is your cue" meant that Ace was going to only have a few words in the interview.
I remember working at a studio in midtown NY in the late eighties as a PA. An assistant Engineer and I were big KISS fans. Ace was going to coming into the studio to do some work on something. So the assistant Engineer and I were singing ROCKET RIDE as we were getting the studio ready for Ace. All of a sudden, Ace pops his head into the room we were in and yells “ SHuT THE FUCK UP, I hate that song “. All I said to the other guy was, Ace should be happy we are even singing one of his songs, we both laughed and went back to work.
Rocket Ride is a jam! He called his 2009 tour the Rocket Ride tour. But Ace has always had a rep for being rude to fans. Maybe he was just bustin' balls? Great story!
Ace talks like a parrot imitating Uncle Fester on "The Addams Family." I can say that because, like many of you, I am a fan of hard rock's George Harrison myself.

Only Gene would refer to a Kiss show as a "Religious experience". He once said something like " This is Kisstianity. And guess who's playing God". Nobody has a bigger ego than Gene. What a D-Bag! Love the Ace stuff! He always made me laugh!
Ace was the real motor when the originals were together back then. His personality alone attracted more fans. He also went on to have the most successful solo career out of all the members. If you ever get a chance to listen to his solo albums, then please do. They are really good and a lot of the songs have that old iconic kiss sound.
When they mention "films," even the group themselves don't address the "Phantom Of The Park" special, and it had been out for a while. That's pretty funny to me. Ace is the only one who gets a laugh out of it.

Paul and Gene hate Ace because he is a MUCH better musician than they are and he overshadowed them on stage. Which drove Paul and Gene crazy because they have such gigantic egos.
Not true. After Ace's solo album Paul gave him three songs on Dynasty. And Gene only two! And you see in this interview how Ace touches Paul's leg twice. They were close. And Gene said: "I love Ace. When he is sober".
you're naive if you think Ace wouldn't be drinking before a show in the 70s . and the funny part of these interviews IS Gene, because its funny watching Gene try to recover gracefully from the shit Ace and Peter say.
