Hi Legend! That was my save file, thank you for featuring this, i hope you and everybody else watching enjoyed it. Just a couple words about the situation. Was doing a no defeat campaign and because i've lost a campaign like this before due to lightning strike i deceided to build every single army strong enough to be able to handle that, thus a bit fewer armies. As far as the enemy armies are concerned i made a backup save, then took a look around my list of allies and selected their strongest armies and turned on console commands to teleport them into the desert where i declared war on them for a showdown. The ruinshelter ability appears to be bugged and permanently available to all mistwalker units. Also the army could have been a little bit stronger if i added diamond guardian phoenixes to every Lord however in 234 turns i only got 1 of them and it was assigned to a different army.
You need only one Diamond Guardian Phoenix, as it applies mapwide, not armywide (but nothing stops you from adding each one of those - having also fire resistance one and spell resistance one)… Also Legend was right that having Grom’s Big Waagh, would make this army even stronger… … and I know it it debatable, but you can take 60% physical resistance instead of 20% ward save to have them be even more durable (depends who you fight). I’ve got shit ton of Yvress campaigns myself, so I tested a lot of different stuff with them 😅 … and still I didn’t know that ability was bugged - good to know, thanks :p
@@robinekhoodekful Tbh i only learned of what each of the passive/active abilities are that you get for improsining Lords while playing so i had no idea that Grom provides a major benefit, however even if i did it most likely would not have made much of a difference as he died pretty early on without me ever fighting him.
Regarding the 'Ruined Shelter' ability being available despite there being no Chaos prisoner, I would not be surprised if that happened because they captured a Chaos Dwarf prisoner, as I recall their benefit being bugged in a way where it does not go away after the prisoner has gone, as it normally should. Also, surprised this submission didn't have the ability for capturing Grom - giving all 4 armies their own ability to heal without a caster would have made this even more overpowered than it already was.
All of the Elves Present are Noble Born, so the Standing/Flying around or lack of, very lore Accurate "which one of us is the actual General", High Elf table top rule, pretty much all characters (hero/lord) one of them at random is the army general.

Those were some pretty nice cinematic shots. Like someone else already commented, I have also never seen the Thunderbarge die animation and was quite impressed how cool it looks.
A lot of good things where only in Medieval 2. Visible armour upgrades, radical weapons progression, hidden parts of the map, stepped castle defences requiring siege weapons, non butt ladders. Good times.
Honestly, your advice has genuinely helped me do better in battles and avoid bad situations in the campaign, my micro is still not the best, but strategic decisions help to mitigate that
As far as playing the game is concerned, I think the 4 model units are probably the strongest category. Because they're a multi-entity unit, any damage they take without taking casualties is ignored, and because there's so few of them, they're less likely to take stray casualties. They often have better mobility than both single entity and higher models/unit troops as well. idk what to even expect from doom swarm other than "That's a pretty beastmode army"?
Some of the knights just couldn't be bothered to fight in a battle with such a foregone conclusion 😂 Impressive armies, and the idea of healers under AI control sound interesting, especially for Bretonnia.
Playing a Yvresse game now and I'm excited to get my hands on these guys - they seem to fill a similar role to dragons, but with even better raw damage output and HP pools.
They were the outright strongest unit in TWW2. Even when the Beastmen got their buff & added better monsters, these guys had them beat. The best part is, since their not single entities, as long as the entities survive the battle, they recover to full after every fight.
A likely reason why the Medieval 2 Ai command thingy didn't make it into any other games. Medieval 2 was the last total war on its engine, they swapped to a new engine for the games that came after.
Maybe an idea to make a short video of how to send you a video? Ofcourse google can help but I can imagine that people will hesitate when they have to spend a while to find a way to find the save file. I think that will provide with more disaster battles 😊
Yeah I would appreciate this too. I’m not too fluent in any kind of modding and I have had a few I could send in, mostly because I’m decently bad at the game.
So many cool features in Medieval 2 that should have been added to the warhammers by now. They must have been delusional to think deleting them made the game less complicated
Making this doomswarm was definately impressive. However for me doomswarms that are much easier to make are more interesting. Have you considered playing other Total War games from time to time for more variety? I loved Shogun 2 (FOTS especially), but other historical TW are great too.
I'm impressed, I've only gotten to turn 200 like once that I can think of and I was no where close to this guy in expansion. Think I need to be more aggresive!
KoTG has always been imo the strongest doomstacks with actual units cause some of the hero stacks would be strongest obliviously. It’s just so hard to get the capacity for them that they’re essentially the same as hero stacks.
ahhh knights of Tor Gaval... game balance: "multiple units should have less health per unit" knight: "i have as much health as a hero per model." game balance: "if one stat is high, another should be lowered" Knight: " i have amazing health, offense, defense, speed, leadership, damage, armor pen damage, and decent armor.
And there's a bug that keeps abilities. Ruinshield is for chaos forces, possibly he did that with Scarbrand. And capacity increases only from buildings.
While it wasn't great, this was a reminder that MTW2 gave you the ability to lead AI armies along side your own. Keeping them on the enemies flank seemed to be a decent way to handle it if you had to use it.
The one thing I would like is if you could sometimes show the hp bars just so we can see how quickly they go down. Those Thunderbarges didn't know what hit them. Great army, looks and performs amazingly well.
AI helds itself like Legend in most of his skaven videos: but legend, why you won't help your allies to break enemy forces? Haha, because if i attack i get casualties, thatswhy i wait AI to breakthrough😅
Been such a long while since i watched one of these vids that i don't even know the term "Doom Swarm". Haven't given much thought to TW:W3 in quite a while.
I am for a Limit on Unit Tier for Doomswarms, if a Unit is already a near unbeatable Doomstack, i see no use in making it a swarm. I find the concept of a Doomswarm more in the Swarm aspect, so many Units of low individual Value so buffed up, that they become Powerful.
I am trying to think of any set up that could defeat those armies and I am coming up blank. Not even sure 4 full stacks of Saurus heroes on Carnosuars would defeat the 4 stacks of Knights,
Yeah Tor Gaval are pretty busted in auto resolve as well. Went up to 2.3k kills on 1 of them in a battle against vampires. While the rest of the army didnt even reached 100 kills.
I think the only thing that I would even think come close to beating this is like a one man army Karl Franz with luminarks when you are not controlling large armies and even then it’s just a maybe
4 stacks of 90% ward save Arcane Phoenixes. Blob them up together and the KoTG have no chance, would be a massive grind though since the Phoenixes cap at 580 WS and they dont have a lot of melee attack for a SEM
We really need a button that makes the allied AI more aggressive in combat. They're spending more time playing poker than fighting 6:30 Oh so it WAS a thing in another total war game but they decided that their superior AI didn't need it in TWWH3
Hi Legend, your videos show that Thunderbarges are very weak under AI control. Just fly to them and go in melee. Than they destroy themself by flying away with max speed activated. But a human should be much better with a Thunderbarge doomswarm.
Need a toggle AI control for units too for when you just want them to engage no matter what and are busy with micro elsewhere. Some of us are getting on in years after all lol.
You can get four full stacks form different allied factions to clump up. If they were your allies and you directed them all to defend the same location. Eventually they will gather there and then you can betray them all at once. Not knocking your game knowledge but I have done similar stuff legit.
I feel really stupid for asking this, but...how do you get MORE than 40 units on the field? like in the video. Does that only happen when yo ugive AI control? Or is it a mod? I would like to hear the answer
i like doom swarms where you make a stupid unit work through sheer numbers, and just trying to buff it up as much as possible. a doom-swarm to me, should be a stand-in for a doomstack, as in "we can't make the good stuff, so let's just make a stupid amount of bad stuff"

No such thing as unnecessary if it's cool AND powerful.
That’s the entire point of this series
