      Correct.A lot of people have misconceptions about both influencers and politicians.
      An influencers job is not to be an internet personality but to make you buy stuff and a politicians job is not to make good policies but to get re-elected
      Both do what you think they have to do to an extent because it’s necessary but otherwise why should they bother
      They just want to make money like the rest of us
      Knowing that gives quite a different reference frame and you can make a lot more sense of why things are the way they are.

      @Korodarn 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@Makerr8 No, the red flag should exist regardless of what they tell you. Otherwise you are depending on rules that will never be perfectly enforced. You may even evaluate that disclosure means honesty, when it can only be a good signal for that in any way when it's not enforced. To enforce it is to nearly destroy the value of it.
      The reflexive suspicion against LMG when they do disclose is not because of unenforced rules, but a broader breakdown in trust and social cohesion. This isn't driven by lack of regulatory enforcement, but by cultural shifts and greater awareness of dishonesty (and conspiratorial thinking) enhanced by the internet.

    Knowing TH-cam they won't add those, but one feature that would help a lot would be if a viewer left a comment, you could see how much of the video they watched and what parts. TH-cam already tracks it via watch time, so add those metrics to comments.

    • @MightyDantheman
      @MightyDantheman 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      I'm actually surprised that this isn't already a thing. My only concern is that there night be some misinformation if somebody goes back in a video to rewatch a specific part and then writes a comment, so they'll show commenting earlier despite watching the whole video. The reverse of this is also true where somebody might skip to the end of the video to make their comment seem more important or pass some sort of filter. Regardless, I would still like to see that information. Watch time would be nice too.

    • @jacksonburger2081
      @jacksonburger2081 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MightyDantheman My idea was that it would be a similar feature to the comment hyperlink (where you can put a timestamp in a comment and TH-cam will automatically highlight it blue and take you there if you click on it). My thinking is that it would total the amount of time you were on a videos page, ie not actively watching another video. It would be positioned next to your name (presumably to the right) and when you clicked on it, it would show detailed analytics of what they watched and how many times. I can see how this could be a privacy concern, but there's a million different ways you could add the feature. Please reply if you have any questions/confusion/thoughts!

    I've done content for the internet in the past for me and others, so yes I know there absolutely are shady companies wanting to do not tagged sponsored content and there are many content creators who will do the thing and take the money. But even when it's a big problem it's not as big as commenters everywhere make it look, people will say anything they don't like or don't agree is an ad for the conpany and the creator is a shill of "x thing" in every opportunity, it's just one of those things that people repeat all the time. I've taken my time to explain in some cases how things work and why in a specific case is clear it's not sponsored and people don't care, they will say I'm also part of it, etc. It's just ridiculous.
    And the not watching the video or just a part of it is completely true too. Most of the time you can read how the person didn't actually view or read the whole thing and criticize the piece just by what they think it is about and you won't convince them otherwise unless they get a lot of comments from everyone telling them they're wrong.
    People on the internet are weird, and even when there's some truth to the problem (which of course needs attention and regulation) you just won't convince some people that something they don't like is still valid.

    Remember the report is from the EU, alcohol would be a big one as the legal drinking age is lower and there aren't as many restrictions on commercials/ads for it. I've even seen ads on Solitaire for alcohol in Germany, along with condom and sex lube ads.
    Personally, I think if a contract was signed/money exchanged hands with a company then it should have to be shown as a sponsored video. I've seen that little watermark in the top corner saying "sponsored video" on some videos, and nothing on some that were clearly sponsored, that watermark should be required on ALL sponsored videos along with the channel owner saying it is a sponsored video right at the start of the video. It really doesn't matter to me since I don't buy anything from ads or "influencers" forcing things in my face and down my throat.

    It is generally a sad situation, not only in that area.
    Every time you buy something online or offline, that is not a big name brand like Amazon, wall mart or whatever, the first thing that pops in your mind is "okay, how could this company/person try to scam me?".
    And the unfortunate truth, as also mentioned here, is: this is a valid step as it most of this world seems to be out to get you.

    • @Korodarn

      They aren't out to get you, they are out to get what they want with the least expense possible. Amazon only works because it needs trust to survive, the smaller businesses do too, if they care to continue, but there is so much selection pressure against small business today due to economies of scale and regulation that these businesses are so ephemeral it makes more sense to just discard them after the scam has run its course.
      What most people should seek more of is counterparty risk (someone else who pays you if the transaction fails) or validation through reviews not on that site that are somewhat curated (meaning the site moderates in a way that effectively prevents fake posts/etc.)
      Amazon is doing an incredibly poor job here, leaving some room for competition if a clever person can figure out a way to offer this.

Also if you give a negative review on something goodbye free camera. The trust is gone because once you give a bad review on a product you will not get any more free gear to review.

    Check about the new Pirate game from Ubisoft. It's really hated among everyone and there are still people (influencers) who "like" the game..... It even gets positive revieuws from "known" revieuwers.

    I suspect most of the resin crafters are sponsored or comped resin and other materials but don't say it. I was annoyed when Seinfeld's Cars & Coffee show got a coffee sponsorship in the 4th season without saying it. The b-roll suddenly features a lot of prominent logos of a certain coffee company.

    I know this is an old video but I'll comment in case you get bored and see this. My "issue" with LTT videos isn't that I don't trust you it's that you optimize for the wrong end of the spectrum. I don't care to game at 4000 FPS on an 8K display. Realistically anything more than 30 at 1080p is just fine, I'm more curious about power efficiency, product circular life cycles, bang for buck, etc.
    The constant obsession with fast but who cares at what price/quality is pointless. Fast is good for labs, science, commerce, etc. Quality is better for home use.

    To the point of the Logitech / Intel sponsorship claims. Linus, what you have to realize is from our perspective we can't always tell. You know, from running your company, how sponsorships work and the steps your company goes through to be transparent. We don't have that experience.
    To me, the viewer, you claiming that ltt handles business properly is just like the ~500 (good and bad) European influencers claiming the same thing. We don't know you and your team personally. We can't see behind the curtain, and we don't heve the experience to understand even if we could.

      If you don’t trust Lmg Ltt or Linus why are you watching? If I can’t trust the opinions of someone then I don’t consume the content. I guess unless it’s comedy/satire where the persons views don’t matter but anytime where even a bit of their opinion being part of it I won’t watch unless I trust it. If it’s a one off sure but then don’t accuse people of shit without proof and just be skeptical and go about your day.
      And these claims were ridiculous I hope they were trolling because they were so such incredibly brain dead takes it’s offensive to people in comas.

    TSMC should get all the credit for the power draw of many low power Processors on the market. AMD, Apple, Qualcomm, NVIDIA. Only Intel uses their own foundries. Plus PC Elitists jump from Intel to AMD and back again. I remember the old Athlon days when AMD was “superior” to PC Elitists over Intel’s Pentium 4, until Intel released its Core processor. Intel would then dominate PC enthusiasts markets until Ryzen 3000 desktop CPUs shifted all the fickle PC Elitists back to AMD.
