And yes, everyone deserves treats... It doesn't matter if it's chocolate, a lipstick, or beer and cigarettes! So sad. Glad you helped him out. It's bad here in Nashville TN. A couple of years ago there was this young man outside the sav-a-lot store. He asked others for help but they just ignored him. He came up to me and asked if he could get a Gatorade. He was very thirsty. I told him I would. So I went in and shopped and got him 2 Gatorades and some food. Checked out and he was still waiting outside the store. And I have him his food and drinks. He was so greatful. I got to my car and loaded my groceries I got. And got in the car and shut the door. What broke my heart is that he lives on the sidewalk in this wheelchair. He was hit by a car, had a stroke & can't work or walk. Yes, my heart is 💔 for Cal
I think we need to keep in mind that the beer and cigarettes were simply you going above and beyond for this gentleman. I'm more focused on how you chose to support a small minority owned business (a blessing to them) to purchase him a delicious looking, nutritious meal and also blessed him with a generous monetary gift. On top of it all, you spent time with him and made him feel like he matters, because he does. You did a wonderful thing. I will definitely keep him in my prayers. 🙏
We have the same unfortunately. It's called Tent City downtown.. On every corner there's someone begging. A lot of people who have mental disabilities end up on the street. My son is on disability and can only afford his rent. Without the support of his family he could be one of those. Without the ability to navigate the system homelessness is inevitable. I explained in my vlog the reason for the poor choice. Those are what he wanted and what brought him joy. He didn't even want the food. I left it hanging on the back of his wheelchair

It feels good to help others and he will surely remember your kindness. I follow a guy on youtube in Russia and he uses his channel to help the truly desperate people he finds. He is very inspirational and while we as a country are against Russia , the Russian people are still suffering and had nothing to do with this mess. The guy is Sergie on Vasya in the Hay. If you want to see how bad things can get just watch his channel, the money he gets is going to a really good cause.

He frequently interviews homeless people, and was once homeless himself, so he knows what it's like. He travels all over the US, and has occasionally been in London. But everywhere he goes, he talks to actual people living on the streets, and lets them tell their stories. He, also, often passes out socks, and whatever else he can afford. And he tries to work with social advocates in the towns where he visits, and tries to find out what services they have for homeless folks. And in turn makes sure the homeless know what's near them to help. Some he has even managed get housed. He, too, takes contributions from listeners, but isn't constantly asking for money. I think his main goal is to make sure people realize the huge problem homeless is in the US, and is hoping people will then try to help those around them, like you did! Thanks for sharing this. And I'm with you, Glenda on the beer and cigarettes. These people's lives are wretched, and it's not our place to judge. If you brought him some joy and relief with those things, then that is good! Far be it from me to say you shouldn't have given him things that will bring him even a few moments of relief. And hopefully, he will eat the food. And if not, I bet someone out there will enjoy it! Good for you to bring even a bit of joy to his life! I'm sure there's always going to be critics, but unless someone has been homeless, then, I think they have no right to judge!

My son buys some homeless people food everyday. But he refuses to buy cigarettes or alcohol. Yes that was nice to buy food. Alcohol and cigarettes was not something I would have gotten him. But that was your choice. Thank you for buying the food though.

Thank you Glenda for showing care and interest in Cal. Showing faces gives us a bigger picture to the a reality of the problem. Just hearing it on the news doesn't affect our emotions as much as to seeing it face to face. Some may say that buying him cigs and a beer was not a good idea, but if you were to talk to these people as individuals, and listen to their stories, a beer or cigs is what gets them through their lonely day. It's easy to point a finger and say they chose this........ well.. I suggest getting involved, get to know these people, and hear their stories. We need to be careful in our judgemental comments.

Glenda I noticed his arm was laying in his lap and his hand was curled up like he had a stroke. I heard him or one of the other fellas say he had a stroke. So very sad he is wheelchair bound. He probably hasn't even had physical therapy. Just heartbreaking to see so many homeless people. I always try to give them a couple of dollars when I see someone homeless. I have bought food too for them. When I see the homeless people I can't help but try to help because I feel so sorry for them.
I had a difficult time understanding his speech, but a few other subs told me that they heard Cal say he had a stroke. One of the guys told me that he got hit by a car while crossing the street and that he never went to Physical Therapy for it.

I'm a recovered drug addict & I've spent years attending N/A meetings. If Cal had been in recovery then I would not have enabled him. He's homeless, his life is misery. The cigs & beer brought him pleasure & comfort. That's why I did it

I've been back there several times today. Cal isn't there, but if he were he'd get another pack of Newports, a brand new lighter and another beer!!

And I'm with you, Glenda on the beer and cigarettes. These people's lives are wretched, and it's not our place to judge. If you brought him some joy and relief with those things, then that is good! Far be it from me to say you shouldn't have given him things that will bring him even a few moments of relief. And hopefully, he will eat the food. And if not, I bet someone out there will enjoy it! Good for you to bring even a bit of joy to his life! I'm sure there's always going to be critics, but unless someone has been homeless, then, I think they have no right to judge!

My son buys some homeless people food everyday. But he refuses to buy cigarettes or alcohol. Yes that was nice to buy food. Alcohol and cigarettes was not something I would have gotten him. But that was your choice. Thank you for buying the food though.

Thank you Glenda for showing care and interest in Cal. Showing faces gives us a bigger picture to the a reality of the problem. Just hearing it on the news doesn't affect our emotions as much as to seeing it face to face. Some may say that buying him cigs and a beer was not a good idea, but if you were to talk to these people as individuals, and listen to their stories, a beer or cigs is what gets them through their lonely day. It's easy to point a finger and say they chose this........ well.. I suggest getting involved, get to know these people, and hear their stories. We need to be careful in our judgemental comments.

Glenda I noticed his arm was laying in his lap and his hand was curled up like he had a stroke. I heard him or one of the other fellas say he had a stroke. So very sad he is wheelchair bound. He probably hasn't even had physical therapy.
Just heartbreaking to see so many homeless people. I always try to give them a couple of dollars when I see someone homeless. I have bought food too for them. When I see the homeless people I can't help but try to help because I feel so sorry for them.
I had a difficult time understanding his speech, but a few other subs told me that they heard Cal say he had a stroke. One of the guys told me that he got hit by a car while crossing the street and that he never went to Physical Therapy for it.

I'm a recovered drug addict & I've spent years attending N/A meetings. If Cal had been in recovery then I would not have enabled him. He's homeless, his life is misery. The cigs & beer brought him pleasure & comfort. That's why I did it

You Elect people who are supposed to help Everyone! Homelessness is terrible everywhere. They better fix this issue instead of building “luxury apts” everywhere. Affordable housing is NOT $1700 a month for a tiny apt. That restaurant looked tasty!
