O my gosh! I just want to hug you. You are talented with a keen eye for needed rearrangement and decoration. I live in an apartment, and it wouldn’t make sense for me to build that around my fireplace. But you gave me an idea to look for some discount book shelves to put on each side. ❤thanks
Is your fireplace wood or gas? I have wood and would like to do the same as you. You put 4x4 tile just one row is that same for wood burning fireplace?
Update if you still need it: She posted a step by step of this project on her Instagram highlights. About halfway through there is a clip of her securing the bookcase to the wall by drilling through the back of the bookcase :)
Do you have a method or product for painting shelves so the items you place on the shelves don't stick to the paint? It seems like you have to use a semi gloss or gloss paint and let it cure for like a month or else you risk stuff sticking to it
Holt shit this is amazing. Do you have any sort of product numbers or full photos of the process/finished product? Looking to do something similar without ver boring fireplace
@@smallfootprint2961No not these Billy bookcases. I have them and if you leave even a tiny drop of water on them they bubble up and look ugly because they’re not solid wood. This looks nice but it’s risky if there’s ever any water damage.
I bought billy bookcases 16 years ago and they are still perfect. Of course I use them for books, which is what they are meant for. They are not to be used in bathrooms or for displaying living plants that need watering.
This looks nice but I have Billy bookcases and they’re compressed wood that’s easily damaged by small amounts of water. I wouldn’t want this built into my home. I used a water/vinegar cleaner on my IKEA Billy bookcase and didn’t wipe it thoroughly. Some tiny spots of water caused big ugly bumps on the shelf. Don’t risk it. Just use real wood. Billy bookcases aren’t that cheap to begin with anyway.
It's because she added frame work around and on the shelf to make them look nicer, but didn't on the bottom part since she was using doors on them. Not only would no one see but the doors wouldn't close if she added it to them. I'm sure if she ever decided to get rid of the cabinet doors she'd then add it.😂
I wish these “shorts” were “longs” with tutorials. I’d love to try this but I don’t know how.
She has a whole blog post about it!
@@daguerreostrife thanks..I’ll check there.
Nice use of the 'Billy' bookcases. Love what you did.
I love the contrast. You often see shiplap or horizontal boards painted white but I love the dark charcoal color you used
It is absolutely Beautiful.
Great job! Looks seamless
Thank you so much Selisha

Beautiful work. Way color is your mantel?

Very nice 🏡⚒️
Thank you, I appreciate you!
How did you painted them? I have not found the correct material for IKEA furniture.
You are truly amazing 👏🏽 ❤
They’ll know when they open the cabinet and feel particle board lmao
I so love this😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
,your work is second to none may God continue to bless you and your family
Amazing ilike,it,beautifull
You made over your fireplace surround. Did you actually end up making over your fireplace too?
Awesome
Was it that easy to paint the bookcase?
I want to paint the backer but not sure how the paint would take
What a difference.
Thanks for sharing
very nice
The Brad nails work okay with the MDF material?

Did the bookcase come with the doors
Love this
@comestayawhile Hi! Great job! Which doors did you use for the bottom of the billy bookcases?
very nice❤
Oh that is beautiful, too bad the white ones weren't in stock.
@comestayawhile how did you secure the bookcases to the wall?
Wondering the same thing! I'm working on something similar and the space at the top (with the extender kit) is so tight.

Where did you store the frame tv media box?
Hey do u have any vids redoing a large golden pine trunk

IKEA offers extender kits?

it is the Billy bookcase
@@weronicaswonder8156 yup. I can read. There are about 20 different Billy bookcases.
What white color did you use
That looks so expensive!
awesome
Looks great. Poor tv is too high
Where you get the extension kits?
Where are the doors from?
Does anyone know what size these billy cases are, I went to look and there are several sizes
lol funny thintg is the white was NOT out of stock, she just so happens to not like that pitch/tone of white
IKEA has flimsy products. How do u manage that ??
What color are the walls?
What trim
Top félicitations 👍
Do you just keep reloading the same videos and posting them apart
How do you figure they look "built in"?
They do look very nice but they just do not look "built in".
No one will ever know that are cheap bookcases....until they actually look at them.
If you haven't tried Ikea. Their stuff is solid wood. Usually pine, but no mdf. So nobody could look at those and see them as 'cheap.'
@@smallfootprint2961No not these Billy bookcases. I have them and if you leave even a tiny drop of water on them they bubble up and look ugly because they’re not solid wood.

@@smallfootprint2961 lol no. Most Ikea stuff is chipboard - looks cheap and wears quickly
That crown molding you can buy it in foam, cut up the length you want and paint.
Just built your house out of polyester, why not! It's cheap and you clearly can't tell the difference anyway
shh, our secret 😂
So inspirational!!!

Yes! It might cost a bit extra but it will last and look better than some overpriced chipboard
Can't you just replace the shelf
The doors on the left are not aligned.
You painted melamine... Unsanded melamine.
Très jolie...
How much did this cost you for the whole project?
they WILL know when that cheap mdf they are made off falls apart in a few years
Nice built-in bookcases, but this is not a fireplace makeover, it's a bookcase installation.
They will if they see this video. 😂
Could you slow down the speed a little bit? I can’t even see what you’re doing is going by too fast.
the shelves are different thicknesses!! the top shelves are thicker then the bottom shelves. this would annoy the duck out of me if I lived here
No they aren’t?????
@@vs71597 how do u not see it lol my books would break those thinner shelves

Fire place tile looks so bad.
