I don't know how canon the SSBU cinematics are to anything, but Diddy, DK, and K. Rool definitely knew Banjo and Kazooie based on their reactions to the bear and bird's arrival.

It's because Banjo-Kazooie were bought by Microsoft and it belonged to Rareware. Donkey Kong too belonged to rareware, so it's like "Oh cool they're back in a nintendo game"

They also own tiny, chunky and lanky kong. Tiny made an appearence in Diddy kong racing DS because rare could develop for handheld nintendo games because it wasnt in direct competition with Microsoft's products.

In Banjo Kazooie, there is the infamous "ice key", located in the "freezeezy peak" snow level.
The ice key is also an item that can be collected in dk64 via gameshark. So right behind that northern point of the DC3 map (snow) lies freezeezy peak from banjo kazooie.
I don't know all of the details but I'm pretty sure it was meant to be a crossover where you would unlock the key in both games. Beta64 covered it in his BK episode I think.

By that logic, yes. Which means that they share a universe with the Sonic team as well, since Mario and Sonic have been chummy for the last decade. And since Sonic actually races against Banjo in the Xbox version of Sega Superstar Racing, then that is a second connection that confirms that they share the same world. I'm sure Spyro and Crash could fit in there somewhere as well.
This is like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with video game characters!

If Banjo is part of the DK Universe then that means he's part of the Mario Universe. And that also means that Conker, who is part of the Banjoverse, who is part of the DK-verse, is also part of the Marioverse.

At first it would seem that it was somewhere in the Northern Kremisphere seeing as how since the closing, Banjo and Conker have appeared on their home turfs and Donkey Kong and other Nintendo characters have returned to DK's SUPPOSED home in the Kongo Jungle in games like Brawl and later interations of Mario Party and Mario Kart, but at a closer glance its not the same home DK had in DKC or DK64. Only a cheap imitation. Maybe DK and his family are in on the secret. Maybe they have been instructed to remain silent or meet the fate of so many 90s anthropomorphic platformers. Maybe they are in the dark about it. Maybe they're REPTOIDS. OR KREMTOIDS!
And speaking of replacements, what about the other Characters caught in the aftermath? neither DK, Conker, or Banjo appeared for several years after "The Xboxening" and when they did there was something...different about them. What happened during that time? Could this be linked to how Funky Kong went from Stoner Surfer Pilot, to Mechanic in hiding, to Arms Merchant?

+SwankyBox It appears to be from an early build of Banjo-Kazooie that ran as a 2.5D game! They only recently released a high resolution image of this version of the game during their promotion for Rare Replay:

But to tie into your point, one theory was that it was an early version of the planned Banjo-Kazooie world called Fungus Forest. They had to cut Fungus Forest for time, but the DK64 team at Rare borrowed the general concept and reworked it as Fungi Forest for their game. So, in a sense, yes, it's a picture of Banjo on Donkey Kong Island!

This was fun to watch, but I'm pretty sure Rare just came up with worlds for each game series as they went without thinking too much about it. F'rinstance, how do you explain DK Isle, which has a completely different structure in DKC & DK64?

To add to the B for the bears, there is also Boggy Bear from Freeze easy peak. I think that Banjo is too meta to actually be apart of the other worlds, they love to break the 4th wall after all!
It would make sense, considering the Banjo-Kazooie in Smash trailer.
There's also Boggy the polar bear in BK. The only thing is his sons are named Soggy, Groggy, and Moggy.
maybe the idea of male bears having names starting with B, it could only apply to brown bears. All the bears in DKC3 were brown bears, and Boggy was a Polar bear. So in that case, the naming convention probably doesn't apply to him because he's a Polar bear

They just take place on different islands. The DKC games have several different islands aside from DK Island and Crocodile Islands.These islands can be far away though, as since the worlds are connected to the Mario World, we know that transportation via paintings and stuff is possible. And I fully believe that Banjo is part of the Brothers Bear, have for years.
If DK and banjo are in the same world, that means that banjo is in the same planet where mario is.
I think that banjo originated from the DK bears, and then adventured off to the wild with his backpack. He lost his home and then met Kazooie, who had a house. She really liked banjo's backpack though, because it's so small and compact and easy to fly around with. She gave her house to banjo, and they repainted it and put the name "Banjo" on the door.
Canon. Banjos first appearance IS in diddy kong racing. This is also referenced in the cinematic.
Re-watching this just makes me remember how great it was in Pokemon Gold and Silver when you were able to explore Kanto. The idea of exploring old areas with a new perspective was such a great feeling. It's sad to see that there probably was going to be a time that Rare was going to have a sort of MCU of mascot characters that we never got to see. Sure it's great to see these characters in Smash, but I personally would like an adventure game with different worlds I've seen before but in new perspectives. I guess something like Kingdom Hearts, which is probably most the reason I was obsessed with those games.

gruntys lair is a terminal I.e connected via portals to and from isle o hags, northern kremlands is probably where freezy peak is, the banjo picture is definitely from DKC and the saberman is found in hailfire peaks. Oh and caouldron keep is near a white mountain accord to banjo pilot, what is interesting is is that isle o hags is huge so cloud cuckoo should be very far up in the troposphere

+Javier Carreon Yes, I've been thinking a lot about that myself! Diddy have even been racing with Mario & Co in some Mario Kart-games, as well as with Banjo, Conker, Tiptup and the other Rareware characters in Diddy Kong Racing, so that connects the Mario universe with the Rareware universe.

I had the same problem as a child but then I found out that you have to press the A-button repeatedly instead of pressing it constantly while driving. That's how I finally beat Diddy Kong Racing.

Diddy Kong wrote that letter in the Diddy Kong Racing DS remake which lacks Banjo and Conker.
+Kirodev - This is true, but the premise is still the same. It would give him even less of a reason to write a note in response to begin with. Timber and friends still come from the same area though, which means it is super close by if they were able to get there on foot after being chased by Wizpig.
SwankyBox The Diddy Kong Racing DS story is in a different universe from the original though. You tried combining the two stories but no. Wizpig never even chased anyone in the first game. But then again, we're talking about a game where animals fly a plane into the mouth of a giant pig head on a wall so I'm not sure there's much to be analyzed.
+Kirodev - The only reason they weren't in the game was because of Rare owning their rights. If Nintendo had the rights, they would have probably had a similar video introduction with the addition of Banjo and Conker joining up from afar. The structure of the introduction still mirrors the original manuscript from the first game, the only thing that changed was throwing the other Kongs in the mix as a replacement. The introduction story video in Diddy Kong Racing DS takes place prior to where the manuscript begins on the N64 version, so by that you can't assume Wizpig wasn't chasing the animals. If he wasn't bothering them, then there probably wouldn't have been a distress letter sent to Diddy. So we can assume a lot has happened that lead up to where the story actually begins.

While this "theory" does have some good points to it (albeit 3 years almost since this comment), I have to point out that we actually know FOR FACT that Banjo-Kazooie started out as a different game entirely.
It started out as an adventure game similar to the Zelda titles, with the main playable character "Edison" and his pet dog "Dinger," who was found later in the game. This was sort of a Peter Pan-style adventure, because the final boss was named Captain Blackeye (Whom appears in Tooie's Jolly Roger's Lagoon level. You can get a few tidbits of validity from a couple of his sayings).
The development team felt that the premise was too weak, including characters; so they moved in a different direction, making it akin to Super Mario 64 in design. Ultimately, Banjo was created from Edison, and Kazooie came from Dinger.
It was originally called Project Dream, moved to the N64 after they attempted to release it for the SNES.
Due to the swap of genres from Adventure to Platforming, a whole new can of worms came out and Project Dream was totally scrapped in favor of Project Kazoo, which became Banjo-Kazooie over time.

The Banana Wars are the key to everything. Surprised y'all havnt figured this out yet. Hyrule, the Kremesphere, the mushroom kingdom, all same world and relatively easy to map if you center everything around the events of that era. The Mario's and the Kong's already had beef but the wars made them allies, and once things got planetary, even hyrule got involved as despite the distance, they too were eventually effected
I think Spiral mountain is somewhere else, further away from the rest of, lets call it "Rare Lands", I mean whenever you went to Gruntilda's castle and went to a different world, you basicly went into a warp portal, which then sent you to somewhere far far away, thats atleast how I imagined it.
I think they're also in the same world as Conker. (Based on Diddy Kong racing)

Donkey Kong series, the Banjo series, and the Conker series are all conjoined thanks to the Diddy Kong Racing in which they are all present on Timber’s Island. Presumably this Island is nearby Donkey Kong Island, the Isle o’ Hag, and Conker’s Kingdom.
To be fair, I love imagining that all these worlds are connected, I do this in multiple game series. I don't picture the world map as THE WORLD map, but rather an island in a series of islands all close together much like the Canary Islands in the real world. Each "world" is merely an island, makes everything feel sooo much bigger.
I feel Banjos world no exception to this, isle o hags seems like an area of Donkey Kong Country that we just simply haven't explored until Banjo Kazooir came out.
Basically playing through all these games is like a road trip through the Rareware Islands. With Isle Delfino and the Mushroom kingdom on the opposite end of the Nintendo continent.
I find speculating on Zelda's geography fascinating.

I got to the final boss race in DKR and could not even come close to beating WizPig. Even with the secret Rooster Character.
The frustrating part is that there is *nothing* for beating WizPig, not on the mirror track.

Well, there is one thing for certain... you can tell the games were developed by the same company and used at least some of the same concepts and assets. Whether they were trying to send a message, reusing ideas, or making an inside joke by referencing older games in a subtle way, these connections are neat.

Yeah I definitely agree, they're all in the same universe, it's like how the old disney cartoons like ducktales, darkwing duck, etc are all the same as Mickey, rare did the same, I honestly believe it's the same world but it also depends on dimensions, sort of like DC comics, it's all the same but different. These dimensions are connected to Nintendo world as well.
Plus in Banjo-Tooie (at least the N64 version), one of Bottle's kids has a DK plushie... So he's known on the Isle O Hags

If you buy the Banjo-Kazooie Games on Xbox, you'll support Rare and made them think a bit into making a true Sequel to the Banjo-Tooie.
Rare needs fan support right now, the lack of fan support made them think that nobody would be interested for Banjo-Threeie, so they ended up making Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts.
The real problem is that Rare's Fans are also Nintendo fans and most of them wouldn't want or can't buy an Xbox just to play the Games. Rare games are on the wrong gaming platform. Most people buy an XBox to play Halo and 1st person shooters. The target demographic of the XBox are 1st person shooter player and not Nintendo fans.
I beat Wizpig both times, got every balloon, trophy and key yet I still dont have TT or that chicken. I dont get this game lol.
For Drumstick, there should be a frog in the pond under the main waterfall with a rooster crest on it, and if you run it over you unlock Drumstick. For TT you have to beat his time trial time on every race in the game to unlock him. I never got TT either lol

Mario takes place in the DK universe, since Donkey Kong has appeared in a couple of Mario games. Even though they're mostly non canon, they still take place in the Mario Universe. Also, Donkey Kong Country Returns has a track in Mario Kart 7.
I've actually been considering something very much like this myself! Though, I was a bit less concerned with Conker and was more focused on the world of Dream. Considering some of the unused music for Project Dream (particularity the two "Lost" themes) and some small story details that have been uncovered, I've gotten to theorizing the possibility that the DK Isle may have previously been established as Prickley Pear Island or some other Dream location before it became inhabited by intelligent primates who renovated the entire rocky structure to resemble Donkey Kong's head.
There could even be a connection to Mayahem Tample and/or Jolly Rodger's Lagoon, though since I mostly just have "unused" music to go by, this seems unlikely. However, if that sunken ship at the bottom of the lagoon is indeed The Mudplugger, then we may be getting somewhere!
