    My 2020 RS has just passed 3 years old and I’ve settled the finance because I love the bike so much… it’s a keeper! Despite being the RS, you can still set the suspension to pretty comfortable and the quick shifter even works well around town. It’s such an easy bike to live with and has plenty of go when you ask for it. At a time when many bikes are getting beyond £15k, the RS is pretty good value in my opinion. I’m sure the new model is great, but so is the old model and I fancied a break from monthly payments for a while which is why I decided to stick with the one I have 😊

      @@paulb3243 I don’t ride roads where cruise control would be a benefit to me so I don’t miss not having that, but now I’ve got the quick shifter it would be a real backwards step if I swapped to a bike without it. It saves me a lot of fatigue in my clutch hand when I do long rides

      The RS can't be regarded as a bargain with the R sitting alongside it in showrooms for around 1700 quid less! Ohlins standard fitment stuff isn't the most robust or anywhere near the standard of its high end racing kit, nobody ever found the previous model or in fact any of the earlier Street Triple's slow steering and the new R and RS produce the same amount of torque so will feel equally as urgent except at the very top of the rev range. The new R is the thinking persons Street Triple!

    • @MattSwain1
      @MattSwain1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnnydrama7603 you’re probably right that the R is better value although compared to the market as a whole I still think the RS is well priced. I can’t remember why I chose RS over R when I bought mine 3 years ago. It might be as simple as I liked the extra bling and at the time the RS was approx £10,500. Inflation has a lot to answer for!

    • @johnnydrama7603
      @johnnydrama7603 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MattSwain1 Very true regards the inflation. I meant specifically the newly launched bikes btw. I ordered a 2023 R last month which should be arriving shortly although I've added around £1k worth of Triumph accessories with an exhaust yet to be purchased. No intention of using the bike on track, have a track bike so to me the R makes sense. I could've bought the RS, cash buyer after selling S1000rr but by the time I'd put the bits on the RS I want (fly screen, rad guard, crash protection, exhaust) I'd be up around £13.5k. With the R how I want it, it should come out under the OTR price of the RS. Just! 🤣

    Its cool but I really wish Triumph would continue to make a sports bike that wasn't naked, the street triple is a lovely machine but it just does not have the looks (IMO). I am entirely biased being an owner of a '13 Daytona 675R but I just can't ever see lots of people that really like sports bikes parting with theirs in favour of getting a naked. There is just something that doesn't quite click. At least Triumph is continuing the beautiful triple tradition, because it is getting boring with everything else coming out being a parallel twin.

    Do they have a lowered seat height version? In the past, Triumph has been good about providing a lower version of it's motorcycles. The listed 32.5" (826mm) seat is a bit high for someone with a 28" (711mm) inseam .

    • @nanaholic01
      @nanaholic01 ปีที่แล้ว

      No not anymore out of the factory, Triumph canned the LRH (low ride height) version.
      However you can custom a low seat height version by buying the low seat option which reduces it by roughly 20mm, and if that's not enough there's supposedly a spacer you can ask Triumph to remove from the rear suspension which reduces it by a further 10mm.

      @@DB-sd3cw Well, poop! I am old enough that sliding off the seat (ie. the one-cheek method) at every traffic light is not as easy as it once was. I guess I'll stick to Kawasaki since they tend to have lower seats on their naked bikes. I've never had any interest in cruisers.

    • @Gojo1911
      @Gojo1911 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the lower seat (28mm lower) is available as an accessory. That means the seat height would be below 810mm (RS; the R would be 10mm lower)In addition, as the other people already mentioned, the spacer can be removed, which gives you another 10mm on the RS). All in all, that would push the height below 800mm

      I’ve got the Speed Triple, you need to try both, the Street triple is way more cramped than the Speed Triple, it depends what you want , if you want the 180 bhp and can afford it the Speed Triple is more exiting as it has absolutely amazing power but if you want an everyday practical bike I’d go for the Street triple.. Put it this way , I’ve had my Speed Triple since last March and I swear to you I’ve never been over 7000 Rpm 😂 That’s how much power it has…what I mean is.. Do you actually need all that power 🤔? Hope that helps 👍🏾

      If I had to choose again I’d go for the Street Triple ( the new 23 model) also I’ll be honest the Speed Triple doesn’t really feel happy dawdling in town and traffic ect so it absolutely comes down to what you wanna use it for so you definitely want to spend a good few hours on both bikes before you buy one 👍🏾

I was browsing for a speed triple RS 2022 (new) and I’ve been eyeing it since last year (I guess it’s been in the showroom for awhile) it’s not priced at $14,799 except fees and tax. Meanwhile that’s about a street triple out the door. Another hundred dollars I could go for the bigger engine and HP. I do a bit of both city and Highway riding. Now with this sale price would you still go for the speed or street?

      @Douglas Alexander that's what I'm saying; the MT-09/XSR900 just seems like it makes more sense to buy than a street triple. Street Triple 765 is over-rated / over-hyped, .... and not legendary like the Daytona 675
      it should've been 900-950cc like Yamaha MT09 & KTM 890 Duke & Ducati Monster & Kawa Z900, to match their Torque, not Power - which is already similar to or more than the competition

      @@chirag4 Eh, disagree. Im glad triumph is pushing power without falling into the slippery slope of creeping up the displacement. The MT09 and 890 are basically litre bikes at this point and have abandoned 90% of the middleweight market. Esp with the rumors now of the 990 Duke

    • @paulnorman8274
      @paulnorman8274 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chirag4 The point of these is to be dual-use: Sporty road AND track. They NEED a top end focused power band. Make them 950cc with the sort of tune which makes them crisp ad exciting to track, and they'd have 165hp and be more scary than friendly. Besides, they still have plenty of midrange for more sedate riding.
      The very short and steep chassis is more of a "something to think about" for road use, than the power band. Pointed down a 20% bumpy downhill set of hairpins, there is such a thing as too short and steep. A bit longer and slacker, like the bigger bikes you mention, is more forgiving then. BUT: There's plenty of such bigger bikes already. While virtually ALL the really steep and sharp ones have disappeared, now that the 600s, and 750s, are all relegated to closed-course-only at best. So Kudos to Triumph for keeping that niche alive. The 900s are no doubt good bikes, but the STR specialises in doing things those don't even try to.
