If you can, start out with pewter or even a zinc alloy (pot metal). Melts easily with a common propane torch and will give you plenty of experience until you think you might want to try precious metals.
@@dixensizzler You might be able to depending on the pot, but in general Zamak 3's melting point is about 100 degrees higher than lead (lead is about 620 degrees, and Zamak 3 is around 730 degrees).
Great video. The Dremel bit that your using. Can you tell us the "part" number or specifically which drill bit it is? I just started pouring and could use one of those! Thank you.
Hi mate could I make a curb ring doing it this way you do Or would I need place the ring in the mould vertical way instead of flat like you do Thanks and great video
This basic style of Molds wouldn't work well for the type of ring. Would be better off pouring a basic ring and carving it out if you are going to do it that way.
Thanks for watching! :)

Great idea!
Hi, does Zinc alloy have a particular name please buddy? So I can give it a go!
@@Lee-wo3de Yes, a good alloy to start with is "Zamak 3". It's a good all-purpose zinc alloy for casting and costs about $20 USD for a 4-pound ingot.
@@stevepreskitt283 can you melt zamak3 using one of the electric melt pots people use for lead fishing weights?

For the metal molding thing do you just pour the liquid metal into the sand? Or is it the same way you did it using the wood one im confused?
Thank you very much!
No problems 😊
Is there any way to make a more permanent custom mold? :)
Thank you very much 🤍
You’re welcome 😊
Hello. Do you always use delft clay? Or do you use silicone too?
Hi, I have only used the clay at this stage. Thanks
I have a question, if the we're gonnu be using wax would we be able to leave it in there as we pour since it'll melt anyway ?
Thats also my doubt😅
Where can you get the metal casting mold?
Depending on where you are, but best to just order online. Amazon has them.
