That last 2 minutes, about keeping your trail hip lower than your lead hip, is really powerful. Like holy shirt, really really powerful. No BS, I just took this to the practice tee and instantly neutralized my wicked in to out overly shallow hook swing with this. All the coaching and instruction I've taken and no one ever explained it like this. Not their fault, we all take instruction differently. But man, so cool. Thanks guys. Freaking awesome.
Excellent video. The right hip going toward the midline has been a really good tip for me. I just have to concentrate on getting the weight over to my right side. The full turn through is a bit difficult for somebody that is 78 years old. The right hip being lower than the left is easy as long as I remember to try to get my chest pointing upwards as Eric has suggested in prior videos.
After watching this I discovered I tend to move my lead knee in my back swing towards my trail knee. I then practiced with moving the lead knee more towards the target line or the ball instead. I hit the ball much more solid and accurately. However, when I played yesterday, my first four holes I hit great shots but the last 5 holes I struggled with a big push shot. Any suggestions on correcting?
Hey! Yes generally speaking you definitely the lead knee to work down and forward in the backswing (some IN or back is OK)....Getting the knee roughly in line with the hip from face on is a good checkpoint to start with. The left knee goes down and forward as the trail knee goes back: more on those details here: th-cam.com/video/pPlAIUbGTOY/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUbRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGhpcHMgYmFja3N3aW5n th-cam.com/video/ve8vRxvCqYM/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUhRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGhpcHMgYmFja3N3aW5nIHRpbHRz th-cam.com/video/MI9XfoDBr00/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUbRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGhpcHMgYmFja3N3aW5n As to what you struggled with that shot unfortunately there's no way for me to know for sure without seeing----simply too many possible variables to make a good guess. If you keep struggling with it please send videos in to www.cogornogolf.com so we can see whats going on and fix for ya
Hey Mike! For sure....in the backswing.....looking from behind the player......as you swing back......the hips turn.....and the tailbone moves toward the lead ankle (thats happening from the legs changing flex and the hips turning)
For me I also have to feel the trail foot sort of unglue by itself as the hips turn through impact. Whenever I feel like I am trying to lift it myself I know I did the mechanics wrong.
Some of us collapse that front knee back towards the back knee instead of down, Eric, I struggle with the follow thru, that front foot rolling to the finish. Something basic, but I think it affects my bal and finish? Thanks!
Hey man! I hear ya....I would say rolling the front foot it totally normal and OK.....you'll see many of the good ball strikers doing it. Of course to your point you want to still be able to hold you finish with it ( I would practice holding finish for a 1-2-3 count)

Good stuff! Thank you!!
Great lesson Eric and Steve, love this!
You are the best coach on TH-cam.
thanks tom!!
Hi Eric,
Try this this morning, it's a game changer for me. So simple but so well explained, thanks a lot!
Love to hear it!!
Great video. I’ve really been working getting my hips extended forward. Starting to payoff.
Thanks Steve! Love it---keep on it!
Pure money! Thanks so much.
Thanks Sydney!👊
Tommy says he's starting the down swing by clearing the left hip behind him. You can see that move in the video, too.
For sure a big part of it!!

Can you please elaborate on the tailbone at the left ankle concept?
Hey Mike! For sure....in the backswing.....looking from behind the player......as you swing back......the hips turn.....and the tailbone moves toward the lead ankle (thats happening from the legs changing flex and the hips turning)
Eric is this the same concept for driver?
Any differences?
Hey! Same ideas!
For me I also have to feel the trail foot sort of unglue by itself as the hips turn through impact. Whenever I feel like I am trying to lift it myself I know I did the mechanics wrong.
I like that

Thanks!
I think the whole video helps with my question of being balanced.

@@CogornoGolf ok thx for the response.

Thank you!!
Thats it!!
Thanks!!
The right hip and right shoulder go back at the same time?
Hey Mark! To keep things simple I would say YES thats how you should be thinking about it
Did I hear you say Takomo 8 iron.
You got it right lol
