I love when Gabriel added lemon juice to the tea. That’s a great homeschool chemistry lesson! Never had wild violet jelly before but it’s gorgeous in the jars!
Wonderful! Just made violet jelly last week for the first time and my daughter who loves everything pink is in love with this jelly. Dandelion and clover jelly are favorites here too. Nature provides so much to us if we just observe the bounty before us.
We just made wild violet jelly! We have them growing all over. My kiddos were AMAZED when the tea went from green to pink. I’m pretty new to your channel. A friend forwarded me your pantry staples list video and I’ve been going back and watching all your videos since. ❤️Ty from a fellow homesteader.
I wanted to thank you so much for showing me this jam and jelly maker. I have RA. I have a lot of pain in my hands, have a hard time stirring food. I showed this video to my hubby, he said buy it now. lol! came in the mail today. I'm so happy
Just a hint: I like to use paper towels to skim the foam off. I don't lose any liquid that way. 😊 Another great job Gabriel and momma! Beautiful in the jars.
I absolutely love, love, love watching you teaching Gabriel. He is learning fantastic lessons that will take him through his entire life. He’s doing such a great job and is just as cute as can be!
So glad you didn't throw the foam away! I love the foam. My dad could make any jam or jelly known to man. There wasn't any fruit or veggie he wouldn't can. Every spring/summer he would bring home cases of fruit and we would spend weekends canning and jamming. He would always put all the jam foam in a separate jar for me. I was the only one who ate it.
More impressed your teaching your son! I just taught my son to pickle ramps this past week. My daughter always helped with jams. Time get son up to par canning!!
I’m definitely gonna try that violet jelly next season!! I make dandelion/violet flower tea and add in fresh mint. I add some water and chop it up in my mini blender, then I pour some boiling water over it and let it steep. I strain it, add a good bit of sugar and some more water, then chill it in the fridge. It looks like the color of caterpillar guts but it tastes superb 😁.
WOW!!! I have never seen or heard of wild violet jelly, but I’m amazed!! I loved it when Gabriel added the lemon juice and like magic it changed color… looks yummy!!
i just about picked a bunch this weekend to make jelly and do a video to share...you are always one step ahead...just like you told your son...always in the lead.....Love ya darlin.
I love how awkward guys seem to be with knives! I've been waiting for this violet jelly as I will have my whole back yard just covered in these in a week or so! You never fail to make me laugh or smile! Loved the intro!
Girl I was excited thought that ball jelly maker machine was gonna cut out having to boil them. Oh well you are right that is beautifully colored. Loved watching.
my granddaughter who is 6 yrs old eats wild violets when we are out in the yard playing. I guess its time to make jelly with her now. she loves to can with me. this will be such a special treat for her. ty for showing us how to do it !
They do put up with you, GF, we do to. Always waiting for our next lesson, canning, shopping, chickens, too many things to list. Don't give up on us, we Love you and yours.
Great instructions for jelly making... years ago I bought a canner steamer there’s water on the bottom and then there’s the rack and there’s a hole on the side of the bottom rack and when the steam comes out the hole it’s ready for you to put the large domed lid on and do it over the stove for the amount of time instructions it’s way less messy than the water bath and works just as good easy clean up a peaches and pears apples different fruits and vegetables from the Mormon farms they sold it for canning or freezing and that’s where I found the steamer canner anyway your jam looks wonderful I might have to try the dandelion jam because we don’t have very many of the little violets that I’ve seen in my yard. Thanks for PaTara for the great recipe and sharing Gabriel’s learning with all of us. That new jam maker looks easy to use also.God bless from Louisiana🙏🏼
That looks wonderful! Have you ever heard of Kudzu jelly? I had some a couple of years ago and it was really good. I had never even noticed that Kudzu had blooms until I had the jelly then started noticing it.
@@appalachiashomesteadwithpatara LOL! Yes it certainly would! Here in the South we need an ongoing list of things to make out of Kudzu. I was thinking about using it instead of grape vines to make wreaths out of.
Yay! Another video with Gabe. I hope one day I have a son like him, he seems like a sweet kid. It's funny, I always said if I have only one child, I wanted it to be a girl (because I'm a girl and I felt I could relate better, not because there's anything wrong with boys). But that sentiment is changing... I now believe I would pick a boy.
Thank you for showing the Violet jelly I would like to do a little more with violets this year if not anything else just for fun between you and tipper I think I've got a good idea of what to do. Thanks for all you do
Patara ♡♡♡ That is some Beautiful jelly☆☆☆☆☆ You are Hilarious ♡♡♡ You sound like My Daddy......When you stood in front of Gabriel.....Lol.... Looks awesome! I've never tried to put butter in jelly. Can you say how long you can store the jelly (before the butter in it goes bad/rancid)?
