dandelions are great to eat as well i like to fry the flowers with a wet batter or use them to make what is called dandelion honey witch is different then the jelly but any why you use them they are good.
We tried twice. 1st batch didn't set up AT ALL so we've got violet syrup for sore throats. 2nd batch took a week of sitting but did set finally. Daughter's didnt set either.
Samantha May, very likely. Double check them closely... SAFETY ABOVE ALL. I’d take pics then compare them through trusted sources online AND OR CONTACT YOUR LOCAL EXTENSION OFFICE.
MrsMamalook Thanks for the great question! We used a half of a lemon because it was a pretty big lemon. If you have a smaller lemon, you can use the entire thing. Here’s a link to the written recipe on our blog. Please let us know how your batch turns out. Amy & Chris. www.ourhomesteadadventures.com/wild-violet-jelly-recipe/
Thanks for being so clear in your instructions. Video was well made. 💝
Thank you Julie!
Violets have somewhat of a grapey floral flavor. Lilacs have kind of a strawberry floral flavor. Soooo good!!!
Yes! It’s like a lovely grape-ish jelly. Delicious!
Which is perfect since I love the taste of grapes...but am allergic to them! 😍💖

Hello! How long is this shelf stable for? I can’t get an answer online. I have a ton of wild violets in my area and have been picking them all day.
Hi, I have pure cane sugar, will that work as well as the white sugar. I don't use white sugar for anything.
New subscriber here. Great video and we love our violet jelly as well
It’s so good!
How long will this be shelf stable for?
What is this used for/on? Thanks
Just subbed👍🏽thanks for this “sweet” tutorial💜katie
Thank you kindly!
Do you have to remove the green cap like thing at the back of the petals?
No but if you make dandelion jelly then yes
Don't add stems either
Do you have to remove the flowers? Can you just leave them in the jelly?

Hi, I just finished this! Thank you so much. Will the liquid turn into jelly after 24hrs? This is my first time canning and making jam!
MayDay’s Littlegarden yes it should
How does it taste? Is it lemony?
I have some that are solid white in my yard. Could these be the same?

What is peptin?
What if you like the dark blue/purple color, can you leave the lemon out? Or will that change the taste?
Rhonda Powell add the lemon. The citric acid is necessary. 😊
What is the recipe using dandilions.
Does anyone know what "original pectin" is? I bought SureGel, but concerned that this is not the right product.
Sure gel works well- just make sure it is not a “reduced sugar” product.
Did you use juice from a whole lemon?

I am trying this. When I poured the hot water over my flowers they turned blueish color. Yours was clear. Is this ok?
The liquid will begin to blue as the flowers infuse the water.
@1:16 It's "ETceterea!" not "EKcetera!"
Oh, I though African Violets are edible.
