I loved flying this aircraft. It's a flying box. But the weapons capability far exceeded it's goals. Machine guns, check, bobmbs, check, cannon, check, sidewinders, check, air to ground missiles, check, can carry a drop team or injured people, check. Low and slow. I have landed on a carrier with no arresting gear, dirt field, highway. It could do it all and for a long time. Plane was built for stamina.
With the U.S. looking at new light attack aircraft like the super tucano and the air tractor why not continue the use of this aircraft in that role given it's proven qualities?
I built a replica of this plane for Empyrion: Galactic Survival. Players love flying this Vietnam War relic on other planets. Available on steam workshop.
@@michaelbenjmitchell1 They did that with the old A model, all the way up to the D. By the time they were done the electronics , engines, and if needed the 20 mm turret. Which I believe came off a Cobra? hooked up to a FLIR. Don't know if I can find videos of that.
Do you have any reference photos? I'm a scale modeler living in Louisiana and it would be great to replicate them. I'm only aware of the fast jets being stationed at England.
We had 6 on board the Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 when we left the states headed for the Middle East before Deasert Storm. As we got there, we lonched them the first day of the war. No catapults just rolled about 10 feet and lifted off the deck.
We used the bronco in Vietnam to drop special forces out of rear fuselage. Occasionally we used them to mark exfil High value target pickup up points for jolly green but more often a AC-110. I'm more effective in the OV-1, a Mohawk. Our fob was named Apache junction. I switched to a Loach because the Huey's we're going down to often.
NO ! Two engines; so the “good-one” can get U to the accident scene ! No! Great flying machine; every time they were to be replaced, they were needed more than ever ! Turned a lot of wrenches and screws on BRONCO !!!
If the Bronco has any cousin, it would be the Huey. Or the Jeep even. Simple, swiss army knife. Not at the top in any single role, but able to do a good job in multiple ones
No way to describe this tool as anything less than the Swiss army Knife of aircraft! Everything about it says utility! Even the unique tail was made to back up a truck and load easily.
As always, prodigious vid. Very educational. Certainly learned a lot. Hoping that you will continue to share. Mogen Sie viele Jahre Flugerfahrung haben. Prost!! I know pathetic attempt at Deutsch. Difficult language to learn. I have been trying for quite awhile now to learn. Even interacting with Deutsch co-workers. 😟
I know it seems like a dream but you would think this plane should have never been retired in fact I think they might still have a role as crop dusters I know so cal fire used them as spotting planes I know that they where used recently to fight issues and the Philippine military may still use them I just don't understand why things get retired when it works and keeps working
This Battle aircraft used to be used by The Airforce of Indonesia to Bom when there was Militery Operation in East Timor from 1976-1990. I was lucky not to die of this fucking aircraft.

I don't remember the OV-10 carrying sidewinders. Sure it could carry rocket pods gun pods and bombs including Napalm.

I was Marine Corps Ordnance on the OV-10 back in the 1980’s.
That is one of my babies. I worked OV-10s at DaNang and Pleiku 20 TASS back in 1970-71 Amazing CAS airplane.
Seen them during Nam and used them as radio relay for seals and jump platforms
Thanks for sharing. We flew OV-10s out of England AFB, LA (USA) back in the mid 1970s. Great aircraft.
Thanks watching and your comment !

I was Mar-Det onboard TR. I remember that. Cool plane.
@@chrism-xe5ku I was the parachute rigger that made holsters and other stuff for you guys.
What a very beautiful aeroplane indeed!!! I love most the sound of it's engines!!!
This looks like an A-10 and a P-38 had kids its awesome.
THIS!!! I was literally about to comment the same thing!!
I always enjoyed sitting up on Mt Margarita back in the late 80's at Camp Pendelton and watching the Broncos do their thing.

The beauty of this plane ❤️
Amazing tight turns without loosing airspeed
2 Engines and enough Power
I’d love to buy one of these someday. Twin engines for safety and a rich rugged history to boot.

Danke schön für das tolle Video von unserer BroncoFlugZeug!
Danke für die Tolle Vorführung auf der Hahnweide !
Such a cool and impressive plane. Thanks for sharing Rainer, awesome video!
Thumbs up!
Thanks Bob for watching
Just yesterday, I saw one fly over my house headed for a landing at Ontario Airport in Ontario CA. What a beautiful sound and sight.
Cool
Super cool bird❤😊
Great show! This is the prop-driven Warthog.
True
That would be the Skyraider.....

It was inarguably the best at what it was designed for, which was the FAC mission.
Beautiful little airplane!
Immer wieder beeindruckend dieses einzigartige Design der Bronco. Es lebe die Abwechslung 🙂
The sound of my youth, at the baltic sea in summer, near "Todendorf" in Germany
Honestly! I did not know OV-10's had spoilers! I always thought... yeah, put one on floats..
My dream would be the OV-10D with the old USMC black, gray, green camo.
Buy and repaint it
That fuselage looks like a AH-1 Cobra in a way. But with wings + twin engine turbo prop.
Very good video
Thanks

Never should have retired it. We’re buying a frikkin crop duster to replace it for COIN missions. Give me 2 engines over bad guy territory.
❤...🛫🛫🌏...Amazing good looking lifestyle and best efforts for operations in the sky and experience war in Iraq, Kuwait and Vietnam, Timor Leste 🛩🌏❤
You can still see them in the Philippine Air Force as a Close Air Supporter Aircraft
Wish we had more. Di bah?
Second favorite plane after the P-38
I love ov10 bronco
Deve ser uma delícia voar em um OV 10 Bronco _ além de ser um belíssimo turbo hélice ! ❤❤ 👍👍👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

Available now for MSFS.
No wresting hook either how I landed it 1972 USA America CVN 66
Was this air show at the old AFB in Germany?
Has anyone put a different wing on the Bronco? I think you could completely transform the aircraft with a longer thinner wing.
