Meatloaf was a real performer. He sang beautifully and his writing partner Jim Steinman created some terrific songs for him. "Meat" was also an actor. If you've ever seen the movie, "Rocky Horror Picture Show", which is a cult classic, he is one of the stars along with Tim Curry who went on to many other roles. His performance in the live version of "Paradise by the Dashboard light" is a must see! Yes, he can sing head bangers too.

If you haven't experienced a live version of Rocky Horror you haven't lived. I saw it at a small playhouse decades ago. I've talking with toast, and squirt guns, etc.

It’s honestly heartwarming and a bit heartbreaking at the same time that just NOW in the last year or so Meatloaf is getting the recognition he deserved his whole life.
His genre of rock was quite niche, and his appearance was not really working in his favor, but no one can deny the man’s vocals. What a voice ❤
And the lyrics? Can we give him some extra applause for the lyrics 👏🙏

Goes to shows you SHOULDNT judge anyone by their looks this man was the BEST !! But because he was bigger he didn’t fit North America’s idea of a rock star so sad !!

Any song from the Bat Out of Hell album is a classic hit! Not a bad song on the entire album!. He has tremendous range. If you ever heard of the play/movie Rocky Horror Picture Show - Meat Loaf was the character "Eddie". Meat Loaf also sand lead for Ted Nugent (hard rock).
Even the Bat out of Hell Album, the songs: "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" ; "Heaven Can Wait"; and "For Crying Out Loud" are ballads. ""You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)", "Bat Out of Hell"; and ""All Revved Up with No Place to Go" are rock and can get heavy; while "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is straight up theatre! EVERY SONG is a masterpiece!!!!
Other Meat Loaf songs to check out: "Dead Ringer for Love" (a duet with Cher); "I'm Gonna Love Her for Both of Us"; "Rock & Roll Mercenaries" (John Parr guest singer); "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)"; "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through"; "Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are"; "I'd Lie for You (And That's the Truth)"; "Runnin' for the Red Light (I Gotta Life)"; "Original Sin"; "It's All Coming Back to Me Now"; "Like A Rose"; "If I Can't Have You"; and "Going All The Way" (interesting thing about this song, towards the end of Meat Loaf's career - he's 65 years old, and Ellen Foley and Carla DeVito both join Meat Loaf in the vocals. Both Foley and DeVito sang on the Bat Out of Hell album, some 35 years earlier!)

Love me some Meatloaf. The catalog is awesome. Paradise By The Dashboard Lights; I'd Do Anything For Love; Bat Out Of Hell; Life's A Lemon & I Want My Money Back; You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth; Lawyers, Guns & Money are just a few.

Lovely reaction, thank you! If you want a head-banger from Meat Loaf that shows off his majestic voice, you have to do Bat Out of Hell. For Crying Out Loud is also achingly beautiful, and all songs written by the man seen at the piano in this video: Jim Steinman.

Everyone will say Paradise by the dashboard light... But that's because they never heard Read Em And Weep or I'll Kill You If You Don't Come Back, Dead Ringer For Love... The Dead Ringer album are good songs for his great voice. He put everything into what he sang and that album has meaty songs he could sink his teeth into and emote.

Been my favorite song since i heard it for the first time on 8-track, yeah im dating myself but dont care. Its worth being 67 and living through the music of the 70s and 80s. No auto tune no special effects just old fashion raw talent.

The song was written by Jim Steinman. In the video he was the man playing piano. If there is any confusion Meat Loaf was the singer. There is no band. The name is a nickname given to him by his high school football coach. From what I understand it was not meant as an insult.

  • @billsager5634
    @billsager5634 ปีที่แล้ว +10

If you listen carefully, the reason why Meat Loaf says "there's now way I'm ever gonna love you" is because the woman he's singing to is his ex-girlfriend. The ex, used those exact same words when she walked out on the singer. Now that the ex is back, and the singer (Meat Loaf) still loves her, he can't bring himself to trust her again. Deep song!!

In my opinion, there are only 2 musicians/groups worth sharing the top of Throne: Meat Loaf and Queen.
I fell in love with Meat when Bat out of the Hell came. Queen got my soul by making Bohemian Rhapsody.
I never looked back, and my love and admiration will go on forever...

Enjoyed your reaction. This song has been wrenching my heart since 1978. No one can write like Jim Steinman who is a legend in his own right. Crying out loud is a vocal tour de force. Also suggest official video of Bat Out of Hell…also a classic that yanks emotions all over the place…and the ending vocals….!!!!

In a way 2 out of 3 ain't bad, but in another way it shows just how many betrayed and sad people are out there. It's a lesson to be careful with hearts, or you may be one of them. See Dionne Warwick, you'll never get to heaven or heartbreaker. Mr meat's voice was veryspecial, he did theatrical performances. And all the time he was very good at diction, very understandable whatever he said.

    Hey Hon!
I LOVE Meatloaf… Not only is he out-of-this-world talented, but I got a “glimpse” of his real-world offstage personality in his later years, when he did a couple of guest appearances on - GET THIS - one of my ALL TIME FAV true life paranormal ghost hunting shows. (The show was called Ghost Hunters/the name of the paranormal group was actually TAPs.) What a FUN, ENTHUSIASTIC guy! That was actually when I kinda “fell for him”, I guess… You could just tell he was a really neat person to hang out with! (So then, it made me quite sad when he passed away.)🙏

Welcome to Meatloaf, the voice and performance of the lyrics of Jim Steinman. Rock Opera at its very finest. This has always been a favourite, but they are all wonderful - Paradise, Crying out Loud, I'do anything for love, Hot Summer night and Bat out of Hell to name a few. RIP Meatloaf - you made my teenage years so much better than they might have been.

You relate him to Freddy Mercury because both were entertainers who poured their hearts and souls into their performances every time. There are many of Meatloafs songs that I related to in my teenage life when I didn’t know the artists names just what songs I loved. I was in my late twenties when I finally related those songs to one singer…Meatloaf. Also like Freddy, Meatloaf was one of the few entertainers who sounded exactly the same live and he did in the studio.

Meatloaf was also friends with Freddie and the rest of Queen - Brian May (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums) remained close friends with Meatloaf until his death, and both were devastated at his loss.
