Not the craziest thing to happen in a football game, however annoying. That particular award goes to Premier Manager(showing my age here😂) in either the 1st or 2nd game with randomised world events. Playing with a mate on the old Amiga 1200, one season our main striker retired at 26 to run a country pub. In another, our star player was killed in a car crash! No exaggeration, some developer at Gremlin Games actually put that in there!
